Straight Talker: This petition is definitely NOT a waste of time. If it was why would the Director himself take it serious and respond? Intelligent people simply ignore things which are a waste of time. A petition is meant to galvanize people. More then One hundred and fifty Ulama and Huffaaz have in less then forty eight hours opposed ITV and shattered the myth that the Jamiat in Fordsburg speaks on behalf of the Ulama in the country. Clean air makes people see clearly. The De deur fresh farm air and the coastal air of P.E. must have something special in it. Perhaps Straight Talker could go and spent a few days there. The fresh air will make him see things more clearly. City air is polluted and this affects one's vision. Even our Holy Prophet peace be upon him went to spent time in solitude in the cave of Hira and escape the oppressive sinful life of the shirk which contaminated the holy city on Mecca. Dr Adam with all due respect, who gave you a Fatwa that the cartoons, music, intermingling between Molvies etc. is permissible in Islam? Again with all due respect: Just as a woman cannot be half pregnant, so can there be no half Islam. Islam is a complete religion.

I have not said that caroons, music and intermingling is acceptable. That is wrong. Anything against the Shariah is wrong. If ITV does any of these that ITV must rightly be criticised for that. What I am saying is lets debate the issues and lets give specific examples of wrong doing and allow ITV to correct the problems. ITV is not perfect. But ITV is not Shaytaan TV. I do not agree with music on some of the adverts. I will look into it. I would appreciate constructive criticism to help us continually improve the channel.

I personally do not watch much TV. I think people should think for themselves and rather read books especially the Quran and Hadith literature and also read about the Seerah of our Beloved Nabi ( SAW ). Did anyone ask why someone would make so much effort over a period of 10 years to create an "Islamic TV" station just to earn the displeasure of Allah (SWT) ? It does not make sense. My intention was to earn the pleasure of Allah (SWT). ITV has not made any profits over the past 10 years ( with the exeception of this Ramadaan where we may have a small surplus, InshaAllah ). ITV is a non-profit Foundation.

Doctor Adam, I admire your sincerity. I have pointed out the specifics which you seek. 1) The PHOTOGRAPHY, THE MUSIC, THE CARTOONS, THE INTERMINGLING. Please read the following e-mail: “Moulana, the other night on Islamic TV there was a program called MUSLIMS GOT TALENT. This show had men and ladies all seated mixed in the all. (Not half and half, but all were MIXED SEATED on fancy laid tables) Moulana this program was almost identical to the world wide craze of the IDOL SHOW. All do their bit, and the judges chose the finalist OF THE YEAR.
Moulana the judges were seated in the front row of the stage. They were mixed men and lady judges. The BEST PART, QARIE BASHEER PATEL was also one of the judges in the hall. SMILING away for the camera that was being broadcast 200 million viewers. the sad part was, when a pretty women in close proximity of qarie saab interview him. 2) The Jamiatul Ulama Gauteng has received the following information concerning ITV.
"We have also been informed that there is regular Girls qiraat, where the girls are filmed.
Most adverts have women, in fact in one of the adverts the lady is at a hair salon and her hair is exposed.
Cartoons for the children depict the stories of the Ambiya (AS) There is music as interludes."

3) They have a program which my brother objected to: mgt (muslims got talent).
My brother never watched
, But this girl is on facebook and she has many male contacts and she encourages all to watch her program in the afternoon.
My brother not being an aalim understands it to be haraam!and so-called Ulama can't understand.
This girl is a presenter and she hosts the program with her boyfriend/ future husband.
Your intention is clear but a clear intention does not necessarily mean that the action which follows it is correct. Let's take a person who commits Zina with the intention that a pious child could be born who would fight the Yahud and Nasara. Would it be right? Doctor Adam, I admire your efforts but I feel that you are being misinformed by the Ulama who are on ITV. Perhpas you should meet personally with the other Ulama. I have met them and believe me, they are very very reasonable people who have a deep understanding of Deen.

Just some advice from a sincere fellow muslim. Look after you own luggage before taking on responsibility for others. No matter how fabulously good our intentions maybe. If there is even a little haraam/sin/wrong that's taking place on our strength - we must LEAVE IT ALONE. We can't worry about looking after other peoples imaan and islaam and obliterate + compromise our own. On your strength, because of what YOU doing muslims will watch ITV, commit zina of their minds and hearts, listen to music, fanatise about apa's and moulana's all in the name of ISLAAM!

Just ask yourself a simple question... IF RASOOLULLAH SALALLAHU-ALAIHI-WASALLAM WAS ALIVE, WOULD HE APPROVE OF THIS?

Thank you for providing some specifics. Please answer the following questions:

a)    Do you have a TV?

b)    Which channels do you have?

c)    Did you see the program yourself or are you relying on heresay evidence?

d)   If your answer to the first question is Yes it also means that you Have DSTV as well to be able to see ITV.

e)   If you do not have a TV and DSTV then you cannot comment. Then your position is consistent with the principle you are taking that TV is Haraam.

f)  If you have seen ITV yourself then you will reaslise that the description which you have given is not accurate. Please do not attack people unless you have first seen the channel and not only one programme but a selection of programs.

g)  Besides the above points I wish to answer to your questions which you raise as follows:

1       You are correct that there should be no intermingling of male and female at an Islamic Function. I apologise for this.

2       There are cartoons on ITV. Have you seen the cartoons yourself. They do not depict Islam in a negative way. Remember I have told you that ITV is the lesser of two evils. If you do not like it please do not watch it. Some people take the view that all TV is haraam ( I cannot debate that. But if that is the case then simply stay away from it. But do not be hypocritical and have a TV in your home and watch all the other channels and then condemn ITV as being "Shaytaan TV"

3     There should be no music. I apologise for that. I do not manage the day to day running of ITV. I will discuss this with people who manage ITV and give you feedback when such is available.

4     In regard to the comments by the Jamiat. I would appreciate more details. The facts do not appear accurate. I know it is difficult for the Jamiat to provide details since they are relyin on heresay evidence not having seen ITV so being unable to make informed comment on the issue.

5     In regard to Muslims Got Talent I cannot comment about what happens on Facebook. Facebook is not part of ITV and I do not visit Facebook. ITV cannot be held reponsible for anything that happens on Facebook.

if no one is benefitting by even employment then can we say non-profit, Non-profit organisations in the kuffar terminology is some stupid Companies Act Creation where profits are not shared or disbursed but accumalated to go back in the system. However wages and salaries are 'DRAWN' . People definately benefit, the guys behind the system . Just like SANHA.

We do have a full time staff complement of who are underpaid compared to all other TV channels in the world. I pray that Allah (SWT) rewards them in this world and the next for their dedication to the Deen.

The elders are totally against itv..... Our seniors told us that we should never take to the media to spread islaam as this service - of spreading the deen - cannot be done by sitting in a studio... this work has to be done by going out in the path of Allaah from door to door and heart to heart! There won't be baraka in spreading islam through television and radio stations. Best way to spread islaam is by doing it in the footsteps of rasululah salallahu'alaiwasalam i.e Tabligh jamaat. Who's doing the most deen work in the world today? who's bringing the most ppl to islaam in today's time? It's the tabligh jamaat. Yes! inspite of the ulama on tv and radio stations, its the tablighi's who don't use any media who are spreading the deen of islaam in way that the radio and tv cannot. They are successful mashaAlallah because they don't mess around with the shariah and they stick to the original method. The method which was taught to us by none other then rasulallah salalahu alaihi wasallam and His noble companions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
