Im signing this petition to prevent criminals from re-offending as our justice system has proven time and time again that criminals released on parole almost always reverts back to crime.Anthony Bridgett (2025-04-03)

I feel jail is there for murderers to reflect on their actions and to be re-habilitated and taught to live life without crime or murder. I don't believe just a few years is enough punishment to realise their wrongs.Jessica de Lange (2025-04-04)

I agree in full this crime was in itself Haines and an example of no tolerance should be made.Roelien Cooney (2025-04-04)

The sentence given is relative to the crime. So how can it be reduced… then what is the point of the judiciary!Cindy Oberholzer (2025-04-04)

South Africa is becoming a more and more violent country. Our justice system should be there to protect the law abiding citizens of all races, cultures snd creeds. The families and friends of those who were harmed have lost so much due to the greedy, inhumane actions of a few heartless humans who know that their chances of getting caught and sentenced are very slim. Even once sentenced, the heartless criminals will only spend a short time behind bars.Peter Van Staden (2025-04-04)

This petition is fundamental for the protection of innocent people. If someone took or planned to take the life of an innocent person, he/she must pay for his/her actions in full.Llise Dodd (2025-04-04)

Why should criminals be given liberties like parole when they should be serving their sentences given to them by a judge for the deeds they have committed. Why are there prisons and why are life sentences given but then cut in half. This serves only the criminals and not the victims or their families. SAYING NO TO PAROLE ✅Colleen Buchner (2025-04-04)

I am signing because our country's Justice System needs to refrain from bowing to the power of money and extortion and not allowing innocent victims and their families to have closure by way of adequate sentencing of guilty perpetrators. A Life Sentence should mean just what it says and not be determined by a numerical period. Criminals have too many rights and the Courts seem to forget about the rights of the victims. You give up your human rights when you take the very same away from another human.I would personally have the Death Sentence re-instated in South Africa for murder, rape and other heinous crimes. Our prisons would empty out and the DS would and should serve as a deterrent for those who consider committing such crimes.

I knew Jayde personally. Her family and friends received some sort of closure when sentences were metered out. The mere thought of having these individuals walk freely in society removes the fact that justice was served, and adds a fear for the safety of the ones that live with the loss. These criminals know the faces of the families, and the close friends involved in the case. To have to live in constant state of looking over your shoulder is not justice- its making the whole world a prison for the ones left behind.Twane Henman (2025-04-07)

A strong likelihood that they will commit a violent again.Fear and trauma for the victims' families, friends as well as the community.
I, for one, don't feel safe with a violent
criminal being released.
This also causes mistrust in the legal system. Which most people already have.
How are we ment to feel safe in this country. When the system fails us by letting dangerous criminals before there sentence is up.

A precious life was taken too soon and in the most horrific way. A family will never be the same again and will always live with this. Time and time again we see parolees commit the same crimes they were initially jailed for because their sentenced was reduced. If they did the crime, they need to do the time. Where was the victims choice in all of this? We need to be their voices!!!Kelly Moore (2025-04-08)

Why take a life and they serve half their sentence and get early parole. The families affected by their crime never finds peace. Their world is shattered.
They get to live and be free while the victim has had their life ended.
