NO TO EROTIC SONGS IN HINDU TEMPLES

Dear Mr K Shanmugam.

This petition is created with much awareness and concern over the songs and dances performed in our Hindu temples during religious and auspicious celebrations like vinayagar chathurthi and other temple celebrations. We just find it very inappropriate to have erotic songs and very arousing songs or dances within temple compound. Of course if this happens outside the temple we have no say. Last year many friends personally called me to say that they could only hear those songs when the priest was doing the pooja and archana. This was a distractingly absurd. We would like to appeal to you to send a memo that no such songs shall be performed as dances or songs. There are millions of devotional and other non-erotic songs. We need to keep our culture and tradition up with pride and dignity. Of course, cinema songs shall be allowed but limiting them with no obscenity. Do kindly investigate this. Next month we have many such days and temples which aren’t under the control of HEB are such out of switch. We would very much appreciate, you can get your heart into this and send them a memo of what is the best to be done. We are just asking them not to sing erotic and arousing songs and perform dances with such songs, If the event is taking place inside the temple compound. We would like to thank you for this effort on behalf of the Hindu community here in Singapore. This is not happening in all the temples but mainly two temples that was on limelight for such performances were SRI ARASA KESARI TEMPLE in sungai kadut and LOYANG TEMPLE in changi. Do kindly reverence this request and do the needful to keep our tradition and practises going on for next many years to come. Thanking you in advance for always representing the indian here in singapore. You made it for us on thaipusam. we will be grateful if this is also looked into.
