Baska Cirali yok!

I discovered Çirali (Turkey) by coincidence while visiting the ancient city of Olimpos and the flaming rocks, Yanartas (Chimaera) for one day. It was love at first sight. It became my little paradise far from the many commercialised resorts everywhere in Turkey, the ‘fake’ mega all-inclusive hotels without Turkey’s authenticity. I was overwhelmed by nature’s beauty, the richness of its flowers and Mediterranean trees and orchards, the pureness of its beach, surrounded by majestic mountains. In Çirali small pensions, offering healthy food from local farmers and own fruit trees, are harmoniously integrated in this green oasis. There you will wake up by the sound of nature: birds, roosters, chicken instead of loud and disturbing music. But the most unique of this idyllic place is the fact that turtles come to lay their eggs on this large and quiet beach. This place gives a complete rest and a happy feeling to human beings and animals, which is very rare in the twenty first century.
I regret that this paradise of nature is in danger! Its a big shame that there are plans to build sports and entertainment facilities, hotels, golf courts and other tourism projects! This would destroy the habitat of the protected Caretta caretta turtles and the concept of sustainable tourism for which Çirali was meant to.
