#552016-03-30 18:04No one wants a prison next to their house! It would make sense to have it at the old college next to court and police station it could be built in a way that suits the other buildings - problem solved! |

#562016-03-30 19:02There are many other sites available that will not be close to homes, children, schools and the public. Why should local people feel stressed and anxious in their own homes when a relocation can change all of this for everyone's benefit. The easy thing would be to do nothing , the correct thing would be to ask what your local people want, after all they do have the wright to voice their views. |

#58 Re:2016-03-30 20:08The current prison holds "low level" criminals. This new proposed prison is for high risk criminals. Regardless of me living in Milton of Leys I think it's a bad idea for the prison to be near any residential area. |

#592016-03-30 20:15Plenty places to build out of sight away from a new community with lots of young family's and a primary school. |
oh well |
#60 Arse from elbow training required2016-03-30 21:01The original prison is overcrowded being opened I902, to house 103 prisoners, now houses at least 117, with many on remand but some serving life. Each prisoner costs the average taxpayer £30,000 per annum and has rights so the present situation is unacceptable in accord with the SPS rules and regulations. The minimum visiting rights to each prisoner is two half hour per week visits with those on remand qualifying for more, but should each prisoner have the minimum that equates to 234 30 minute visits per week, between the hours of 15.00 hrs until 19.00 hrs weekdays and 14.00 hrs until 15.30 at the weekend. Unless transport links were significantly improved the demographic of the population visiting prisoners would have to claim for increased visiting expenses. The controversy over housing prices compared to the crown area cannot be ignored as invariably the house price in Milton of leys would decrease, the properties near porter field are unique, period and not mass produced as are those in Milton of leys, and serviced by many local amenities such as a doctors, vetinary, specialist local shops, a deli, hairdressers, restaraunts and public houses, which Milton of leys already sadly lacks most off. It would make common sense to house the new prison in the longman, historical and economic, with reasonable transport links and if the proposed new court building is housed there then less transport costs. alas this is Inverness, the court housed in the castle, the town planners on acid since the 60s, and park where you like on Sunday if you believe in God ......

#612016-03-31 07:03Why use a green site when there is plenty brown sites available? Old college and ground next to police station away from houses, schools etc as well as good transport links for prison visitors is a compelling argument. As an area that promotes tourism do we want a prison to be the first thing that they see as the approach the highlands? As people drive along the A9 the wow factor is the view from bogbain we should be inhancing not detracting from that, another brown site is the old macdermots yard |

#642016-03-31 10:07I live in Milton of Leys and am astounded that this is even a consideration. We were refused a bar diner as it was allegedly to close to the school, how can this possibly be explained!!!!! |

#662016-03-31 21:00It is the most ridiculous place to put a prison - next to a primary school and the first thing that tourists will see as they enter Inverness. Hide the prison away do no-one needs to see it! |

#682016-04-01 13:28I signed this petition as I used to live in this beautiful area and I do not believe it should be built on for any purpose |

#69 Re:2016-04-01 17:50why build in green open land when there is the old college on harbour road , which is right next to police station and you could put the court house there to saving money or what about Craig dunnain its been lying empty for years and is a massive building , I think pieces of land are already owned by the highland council and need re-developed. |

#742016-04-02 17:44I understand the land has already been purchased AHEAD of the consultation. We have the might of the Inverness Courier and Developer empire to fight on this. I'm also aghast at the lack of transparency via Highland Council particularly as it does not feature in the local plan which is a legal framework and is widely consulted. We need to separate the need argument from the location which is entirely unsuitable. The nonsense being talked about regarding property values in Crown not being impacted has been 100 years in the making. It is propoganda and being peddled in the press. The Scottish Government and the SNP have a duty to make sure this has followed due process. As an owner occupier no property searches at the time of purchase revealed any of this, somebody has deliberately misled us. HHA, Highland Council? |

#75 Re:2016-04-02 18:28What an arrogant reply, I see only a few have made comment regards visitors to a prison. Both the times and independent in recent years have reported house prices are effected by prisons in the immediate area,so this would be a real concern for those impacted. Making the argument into the need for a prison and about social class is emotive and childish on both sides. Its the process of agreeing the space and the impact on the immediate area that residents have invested in and continue to do so is the concern factual information is what's important Not sweeping statements as in the closing patagraph of the above. |
