I don't think living in "harmony" is what you really meant to say. Suppressed anger from students, but harmony is just exaggeration.

One thing to remember about decolonizing an institution is the very language of English is a colonial language. Afrikaans is spoken only in South Africa, same as all the other languages we call our own.

History does not remember people who have taken things away or 'decolinised' institutions. History remember people who rose above and beyond to add to current affairs. Afrikaans only became a scientific language 48 years after developing the language at the University of Stellenbosch in 1925. Now you want to deny a person the right to study in their own mother tongue just because you deem it is unfair. An established language which is internationally renowned. Why not work to the point where you created the right for Africans to study in their preferred mother tongue? Wouldn't that make your name go down in history as a leader who stood up and revolutionized education, instead of being remembered as the person who didn't give a rat's ass about other people's feelings or emotions.

We as Afrikaners will always live under the blame of Apartheid, although we were not apart of it, nor had any say. History is important to us and the lessons we learn. We cherish history for wat it was and how we move PAST those difficult times. We don't destroy statues or burn things to secure our place in the present times and society. We achieve greatness and remember what the vision of our journey was and who initiated that dream. And only then do you honor that person for it.

So I call on you Lindo to be the leader the students voted you to be and set things right on campus. To respect other cultures and ethnic groups. To rather build than to destroy or tear down. To set an example for a South Africa where all the rich history can be shared and remembered for those trying times ahead of us. Where tales of greatness can be told without shame or blame. To earn respect rather to force it down through violence and aggression.

#122: HandsOffMyPresident -

 1. I'm not racist, I'm passionate about helping people, all people.

2. I think it's good to voice your frustrations and fears, how else are we going to deal with them?

3. Promoting violence and hate is not the way forward, it only drags us back into the past (which we are all trying to escape from, be it for the stigma or the opression).

4. I'm angry because he's actions are putting my life in danger.

5. You are saying ' racist white people'... you have no right to speak for me or stigmatise me, you don't know me.

He demands that Jansen must go but this Src is doing the same thing. Not doning what he promised. Double standards...And if you are done destroying the university where will all of us go? Where will we study? Look what happed at Mafikeng all is burned down so what now...no University, no degree, no job...NO FUTURE!!! Just sit and think for one second about what you are doing to all your fellow students, not all are so privalige as you to have money and everything.

Students, as future leaders should foster a culture of unity and optimism for the country's future , not the opposite.
