Save the bridge if you can, please!!

Much needed bridge!

Build the new bridge alongside and leave the old one. Enclose with Glass, fill with plants and turn it in to a Jewel Box restaurant. Call it BRIDGE VIEW. DMC

Bridges such as this are not just a means to get over a river. They are historic landmarks, and a reason to travel the old road, stop in small towns, and take pictures. Without the landmarks such as this bridge, the area will have fewer tourists, fewer people eating in cafes, and fewer staying in area hotels.

Please repair this bridge. It has been there since I was a kid.

Grew up near this bridge. Always look forward to seeing it when back in the area.

Don't replace the bridge because people are lazy and it's easier to replace than repair. We love the bridge, it's a part of our history. Too much history is being taken out of America simply because it's easier and supposedly looks better. Leave a little history for people to enjoy. Repair the bridge, don't replace it.

Dear Missouri DOT, PLEASE restore the Route 66 Gasconade Bridge. This bridge is part of our heritage here in the USA. We don't have thousands of years of history like Europe. We need to preserve every piece of history that we have, including this bridge. We crossed this bridge in April this year, on our trip from Chicago to LA. The Gasconade bridge is a beautiful reminder of the way the Mother Road brought the unique, enjoyable and memorable way to travel. I loved traveling on the bridge and looking through the trusses, or the way the sun would flicker through like a strobe light. please restore not remove, the bridge is one more connection from one section of Route 66 to the other.

Repair, Don't Replace - My business is focused on bringing Australians and New Zealanders to road trip the USA on Historic Route 66. The joy we get from seeing our clients re-live a piece of the past is worth more than any amount of income. It is truly a privilege to be able to introduce more and more people to this amazing time capsule. Every bit of it is important, every rotting motel, every rough bit of road and every classic old bridge or culvert. It all represents America from another time, and a piece of our collective childhood. If they are lost, then the experience will also be lost, and visitors from other countries will stop coming. They will stop, and the amazing amounts of money they bring with them will also stop. Let’s be very careful how we manage this amazing and somewhat confusing draw card to so many international visitors. Historic Route 66 has again become a “Avenue of Revenue”. The Gasconade River Route 66 Bridge is worth repairing. MO offers one of the very best Route 66 Experiences and this bridge is vital.

I grew up there and fished under that bridge. Would be a shame to see that beautiful bridge destroyed. Let's preserve history here. WE THE PEOPLE have spoken. Rather than focusing on the problems of the bridge, let's focus on finding a solution. FIX the bridge - it's a diamond in the rough.

We need as much support as we can get on this....

SO MANY OF THE LANDMARKS ALONG ROUTE 66 HAVE BEEN DESTROYED ALREADY! THIS BRIDGE CAN BE REPAIRED SAFELY, IT SHOULD NOT, HAVE TO BE REPLACED. SAVE THIS LANDMARKS, FOR OUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN TO ENJOY AND REMEMBER IN DAYS TO COME, LIKE WE REMEMBER TODAY.

Don't destroy it. Make it a park like the old Mississippi River bridge in Jackson, MS. Not every thing old needs to be destroyed or replaced.

When it comes to historic bridges, if it is the tiniest bit possible tone safe, always restore the old one before you build a new one. America can be seen through the engineering of those who came before us so well.

Maybe share this with Route 66 enthusiats from all over the world that come and travel it, covers more area that way and get more votes, we need to perserve as much history as we can!
