This attack on our children NEEDS to stop! There is so much beauty in the world, let's fill their developing hearts and minds with that. It's pure evil that wants this exploitation in their lives.

Natalie Marose (Bloomington MN, 2023-07-24)

#4

I’m signing because this kind of material is not beneficial to our students. This is straight up pornography and by allowing it the school board is openly supporting our children learning pornography

Amanda and Jeff Salovich (Bloomington, 2023-07-24)

#6

I care about our children and about education.

Sharon Dee (Bloomington, 2023-07-24)

#10

This is unacceptable to be teaching my children or giving my children access to this material.

Steven Anderson (Bloomington, 2023-07-25)

#13

I’m signing because these books are not appropriate for children. These books glorify illegal sexual activity, who ever allowed these books in the library should be fired immediately.

Earl Surman (Bloomington, 2023-07-25)

#17

We are reclaiming OUR children from those that would corrupt them. Children should not have access to explicit and pornographic material especially in any schools.

Lizzy Longo (Bloomington, 2023-07-25)

#21

This is not the kind of explicit content that I wanted my daughter or now my grandkids to have access to when they are at school. I am actually shocked to see this is happening. Teach morals not trash.

Theresa Carter (Bloomington, 2023-07-25)

#23

I'm signing this petition because the schools have over stepped boundaries in sexualizing children by making these books available in school libraries. These books should have no place in schools. It creates an environment unsafe for children, and undermines parents who are trying to raise their children with moral values. The schools are overstepping boundaries.

Christine Ahlsten (Bloomington, 2023-07-25)

#24

I'm tired of the toxic liberal agenda infecting our schools.

Jamie Banicki (Bloomington , 2023-07-25)

#25

Not appropriate for young children.

Ernie Parker (Bloomington, 2023-07-25)

#26

It is imperative to protect the innocence and emotional health of our children from those who seek to harm them. This damage cannot be undone.

Lindsay Desrosier (Bloomington, 2023-07-25)

#28

This is disgusting! These books need to be in an adult bookstore. Not a high school or elementary school

Vickie Peterson (Bloomington , 2023-07-25)

#34

I agree with this

Jeff Anderson (Bloomington , 2023-07-25)

#36

This is demonic.

Charity Pattison (Bloomington, 2023-07-25)

#37

I don’t agree with sexually explicit materials in our public schools.

Rene Myers (Bloomington , 2023-07-25)

#40

These book are DISGUSTING and Anyone that feels it's ok to have these books available to our children should be ASHAMED of themselves.

Amy Ellingson (Bloomington, 2023-07-25)

#43

Books for our kids need to be age appropriate. Books containing sex (esp explicit sex) in text or illustrations, profanity, or gratuitous violence have no place in our school libraries.

Colleen Bloom (Bloomington , 2023-07-25)

#48

Children should not be exposed to pornographic material in the schools. This is not a partisan issue and books are not being banned.

Andy Hayden (Bloomington , 2023-07-25)

#52

I am signing because content including sexual relationships, pedophilia, incest, sexual sadism and gender confusion should not be taught or talked about by any teacher in the classroom. These topics need to be removed from the classroom and returned to the family dinner table/living room sofa. Furthermore, these topics are inappropriate to be the subject of curriculum - I refuse to believe there isn't better content available to teach our children concepts and skills without sexualizing every aspect of education.

Allison Perske (Bloomington, 2023-07-25)

#53

This is appalling and disgusting that our children are subject to reading these non educational books in our schools. This kind of thing isn't suppose to be in our schools. Our educators are suppose to be there for teaching academics and not all this social and emotional and sexual behavior. No wonder our kids are confused and falling behind in there academics.

Christine Sueverkruepp (Bloomington, 2023-07-25)

#54

I want the Bloomington public schools to remove inappropriate reading materials from their curriculum and libraries.

Catherine Baier (Bloomington, 2023-07-25)

#56

This is an important issue that needs immediate attention! This content does not enhance learning or support a safe learning environment. It is unacceptable and will not be tolerated! We ask that your attention to this matter is acted upon swiftly and fastidiously!

Amy OConnor (Bloomington, 2023-07-26)

#58

This material does not belong in schools for minors. Protect our kids. Let parents decide what is appropriate for their kids

Janean Kelly (Bloomington , 2023-07-26)

#60

I want these books removed.

Heather Gingerich (Bloomington, 2023-07-26)

#64

Disturbing is an understatement. There is absolutely no place for this crap in children’s schools. This is not educational material, and serves no purpose to any child.

Stephanie Prout (Bloomington, 2023-07-27)

#66

Kids don’t need to have access to such material. Nor should tax payer dollars go toward pornography.

Ryan Seitz (Bloomington, 2023-07-27)

#68

When it comes to sex education, parents must have the ultimate choice as to what is being taught and at what age it is appropriate.

William Prout (Bloomington , 2023-07-27)

#71

Our society needs to start protecting children rather than exploiting them.

Craig Black (Bloomington, 2023-07-27)

#72

I am opposed to these policies.

Cindy Deal (Bloomington , 2023-07-27)

#73

Materials of this type have no place in our schools. They are extremely inappropriate and potentially very harmful to the development of mentally, emotionally, and socially healthy children. The data clearly shows that Minnesota's public schools are failing to educate their students in the subject areas necessary to prepare them for the outside world, which was their intended purpose. They should focus on doing a better job of that, and let parents exercise their right to do the rest.

Michael Barg (Bloomington, 2023-07-28)

#74

Towne Terrace

Kathy Burna (Bloomington, 2023-07-28)

Luda Lange (Bloomington, 2023-07-29)

#88

These books are inappropriate to be in a school library

Jonathan Stacy (Bloomington, 2023-07-29)

#89

I don’t want developmentally inappropriate and explicit books available to my children at school.

Eric Johnson (Bloomington, 2023-07-29)

#91

I want the schools to educate and not groom children. Our schools should return to the business of educating and not indoctrinating children.

Susan Baker (Bloomington, 2023-07-29)

#92

Read the material-the images and descriptions don’t leave your head and are inappropriate for young children to be reading. [Parents ought to be the ones to talk to their children about life issues including sexuality and gender issues without repercussions for their viewpoints].

Joel Baker (Bloomington , 2023-07-30)

#93

there are so many excellent books available and I do not believe books that are in appropriate should be in our public school libraries. taxes should not be used this way.

Carin Ruter (Bloomington , 2023-07-30)

#94

I want to protect the innocence of children and prevent them from reading sexually explicit materials at a young age.

Ellen Johnson (Bloomington, 2023-07-30)

#96

Todd Johnson (BLOOMINGTON, 2023-07-30)

#98

I want sexually explicit books removed from school libraries in order to protect the proper development of our children.

Philip Gerlach (Bloomington , 2023-07-31)

#99

Aside from being pornographic, this material is simply not age appropriate. It also goes against the wishes of most parents who do not want their children sexually indoctrinated by the government school system.

Bill Hoppe (Bloomington, 2023-07-31)

#101

These types of books have no place in libraries where children can access them.

Andrew Larson (Bloomington, 2023-07-31)

#103

The public schools should be places for learning not places where children can be exposed to sexual perversion and propaganda

Elizabeth Mathew (Bloomington , 2023-07-31)

#104

These books are immoral.

Alan Crow (BLOOMINGTON, 2023-07-31)

#108

Materials such as these are developmentally inappropriate for students under age 21. Further, students should have opportunities to know the vulgar and graphic content before opening one page of a book. My sons were unknowingly exposed to a required book for a literature class that graphically detailed gang rape. Had I have known that was the trashy content for 'required' reading, I would have spoken to the teacher and school administrators. Bloomington Schools must get back to the basics of teaching academics and not sex or social based, biased materials. These books have no place in our schools to better protect young minds. These topics are best addressed in the home with parents not teachers.

Lisa Redding (Bloomington, 2023-07-31)

#109

I'm signing because words carry power. Words have an enormous ability to shape our thoughts, actions, and mental development. The words found in the sexually explicit books of our schools have power to distort and pervert the thoughts of our youth. I care about the thoughts and visual images our children and youth have running through their developing minds. Why is it such a hot debate as to whether or not sexual material ought to be so easily accessed by young minds? These books are NOT necessary for schools to fulfill their responsibilities.

Marie Friedt (Bloomington, 2023-07-31)

#112

Pornography should not be in school libraries.

Paul Hickey (Bloomington , 2023-07-31)

#115

Sexually explicit material goes against our family values and faith, and parents have equal say in what values are presented and taught in public schools.

Alan Redding (Bloomington, 2023-08-01)

#116

Books that are not age appropriate should not be available in the public school libraries. This is nothing new.

Jay West (Bloomington, 2023-08-01)

#121

This material is inappropriate for children in public schools.

Bryn Wuebben (Bloomington , 2023-08-02)

#122

No child under the age of 18 should be exposed to such filth.

Robert Chamberlain (Bloomington, 2023-08-02)

#123

There is no reason that our children need sexually explicit content available to them at school.

Clair Bernard (Bloomington, 2023-08-02)

#126

This reading material does not belong in our public schools.

Walter Krawza (Bloomington, 2023-08-05)

#129

These materials have no place in schools, as they are pornographic and sexually explicit in nature. In no way are they useful in the healthy development of young minds. Keep our schools safe for children to learn about appropriate and age-relevant topics in the classroom and library. There are plenty of wonderful books that do not include sexually explicit and pornographic descriptions. Please remove any and all books with sexually graphic material (word or picture) from our school libraries immediately.

Christina Stockton (Bloomington, 2023-08-09)

#130

District test scores are falling steadily. More time is needed teaching math, reading, history, science and less time talking about sexual matters that are for families to teach at home, and/or for students to pursue outside of school.

Stephanie King (Bloomington, 2023-08-09)

#134

I have 4 children who attend Bloomington Public Schools. I value their education. I strongly feel that sexually explicit content should not be available to minors without parental consent, especially in a school setting.

Jennifer Folkert (Bloomington , 2023-08-09)

#135

I’m signing because minors/children should not be exposed to sexually explicit content.

Analicia Guerrero (Bloomington, 2023-08-09)

#136

This is harmful to our children. There is no place for this in schools

Chris Beran (Bloomington, 2023-08-09)

#138

We need to be protective of and building up our children’s minds, not allowing them to be degraded by explicit material. If you are concerned about the way people treat each other and the increasing amount of violent crimes, you need to be looking at what our youth are putting into their minds and hearts. “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” -Proverbs 4:23

Laura Kluver (Bloomington, 2023-08-09)

#139

Sexually explicit materials do not belong in our schools.

John Peters (Bloomington , 2023-08-10)

#141

This content in a school library is ridiculous. Why is it in schools? I have no interest in banning the books but they simply do not belong in schools. I

Scott Jacobson (Bloomington, MN, 2023-08-10)

#142

I don’t think it’s helpful to have these themes in books at our schools

Carolyn Jacobson (Bloomington, 2023-08-10)

#161

Don’t agree with this

Aaron Locke (Bloomington , 2023-08-11)

#163

I’m a concerned citizen, parent and nanny in Bloomington who feels that these books and materials should not be made available in school libraries.
These are highly sensitive issues that require great guidance and support from individual families, and mental health professionals and should never be considered casual reading materials appropriate for school libraries.

Shani Parotti (Bloomington, 2023-08-11)

#165

These books are promoting all the wrong things

Kaye Standke (Bloomimgton , 2023-08-12)

#166

I want to verify that children’s literature is appropriate for children.

Thomas Flanery (Bloomington, 2023-08-12)

#167

To protect our children, being taught sexually explicit things at two young age

Greg Pietig (Bloomington, 2023-08-12)

#168

It's honestly unbelievable to me that we are exposing anyone, let alone kids, to this kind of material. Adults are the ones who should be protecting kids. They're kids!!!&

Neal Rich (Minneapolis, 2023-08-12)

#170

This filth will ruin the futures of our kids. I'm particularly worried about the girls, who are being hyper-sexualized at a very early age. Girls and women DO NOT exist to bring pleasure to men, and that's the message being given to girls: that their only worth is in how they look and perform sexually.

Sheila Cooke (Bloomington, 2023-08-13)

#171

Having these sexually explicit books available in the classrooms and libraries of our Bloomington Schools does not fit with the 2023 Core Value of “Safety and Well-being” for our students. I would like these materials to be removed. Thank you to the Bloomington residents that took time to review the reading materials!

Kimberly Phillips (Bloomington, 2023-08-14)

#172

Don't want pornography in our schools.

Win Winter (Bloomington, 2023-08-14)

#173

I believe in protecting the moral innocence of children.
The school’s role is not to encourage sexual promiscuity of any kind in minors.
Minors are impressionable and should be focusing on the cores of the curriculum.

Wendy Aronsen (Bloomington, 2023-08-14)

#175

This reading material is so sick. How dare the people in our schools give this to children. It is also against the law.

Maggie Todd (Bloomington, 2023-08-14)

#179

I agree with the petition’s purpose. Immediate removal of ALL sexually explicit material is essential to the safety and protection of our children both physically & mentally!

Pam Leafblad (Bloomington, 2023-08-14)

#180

I would Like our school library, not to be having material that is sexually explicit or LGBTQ related

Sonja Mayhew (Bloomington, 2023-08-14)

#182

I want to protect children

Kirsten Zimbelman (Bloomington, 2023-08-14)

#189

It’s the right thing to do.

Anthony Amiot (Bloomington , 2023-08-14)

#191

I'm signing because our schools should be discerning environments where our children are protected from material that is inappropriate emotionally, physiologically and psychologically for their developing minds.

Michele Benyo (Bloomington, 2023-08-14)

#192

I don’t want my kids to have these books in their school. These books are unacceptable reading material for kids.

Kathy Irvin (Bloomington, 2023-08-14)

#194

No need for this in our schools.

Brad Bostrom (Bloomington, 2023-08-14)

#195

I do want my son exposed to pornography and LGBTQ information.

Karin Eliason (Bloomington, 2023-08-14)

#197

I’m signing because I believe parents should be the final arbiter of what their children are exposed to in schools. The presence of sexually explicit material in our schools is wrong and reprehensible.

Mark Boldischar (Bloomington, 2023-08-14)

#198

I want to see children staying up to par or better with what they are being taught. They need to be focused on reading, writing, arithmetic, science, etc. not on being "woke" and learning about sexual orientation and skin color! We need a generation of educated adults ready to lead our country with high moral values and tools to compete with the world standard!

Sheryl Turner (Bloomington, 2023-08-14)

#199

I want the public schools to focus instruction on basic academic subjects. Sexuality issues are for parents to address with their children at home .

Barbara Terry (Bloomington , 2023-08-14)
