Request for 24/7 Security Camera Surveillance in Barking Riverside

The rising crime rate in Barking Riverside is a growing concern. Theft, vehicle crimes, and antisocial behavior have become too common, leaving residents feeling unsafe in their own homes. Despite multiple incidents, including numerous car and bike thefts, break-ins, and ongoing antisocial activities, no substantial action has been taken to address the situation.

For example:

Overview of Theft and Other Criminal Incidents from Facebook Posts

  • A scooter stolen from outside a residence (May 15, 2017)
  • Bikes stolen from storage rooms (May 7, 2018, and August 18, 2018)
  • Car break-ins and attempted thefts, such as:
    • Brother's car broken into, steering wheel stolen (May 18, 2023)
    • Son's car stolen (October 19, 2022)
    • Car stolen from residence (May 9-10, 2022)
    • Car stolen and vandalized (September 20, 2022)
    • White Ford Fiesta stolen (September 25-28, 2022)
    • Van stolen (December 5, 2022)
    • Car repeatedly spat on when parked (September 25, 2022)
These are just a few examples from the many thefts and crimes that have occurred across our neighborhood.

Total Crime Incidents only in September 2024 by Approximate Location

For example, Bulrush Terrace alone had 14 incidents in September 2024, and other areas like Petrol Station (13 incidents) and Supermarket (19 incidents) were also hotspots for crime. Vehicle-related crimes are significant, with high numbers of thefts and break-ins reported across various locations.

Crime Breakdown by Type only in September 2024

  • Violence and Sexual Offences: 24 incidents
  • Vehicle Crime: 13 incidents, including stolen vehicles and vehicle break-ins.
  • Shoplifting: 16 incidents
  • Anti-social Behavior: 17 incidents
  • Bicycle Theft: 4 incidents
The data clearly shows that crime is not only on the rise but is happening in multiple forms, with vehicle-related crimes being a significant concern.

The lack of security camera surveillance is a major factor contributing to these ongoing crimes. We need 24/7 cameras installed throughout the neighborhood to deter criminal activity and ensure the safety of all residents.

The local police have shown no progress on their priorities since December 2023, and the lack of action from property management is unacceptable. It's time for Tandem Property Management to take responsibility and provide the necessary security measures.
