We need to reinstate this for the community. There are a lack of resources in our community as it is without taking more away. One that was so frequently used.Louise Paterson (Inverness, 2020-08-20)

Not enough is being done in our local communities to encourage and help our younger generation. Budgets are more important than our children's well being. It is time that the Highland Council got their priorities right.David Paterson (Inverness, 2020-08-20)

As Chairman and coach within Highland Bears Basketball Club, I believe it is imperative that we maintain as many outdoor courts as we can in order to allow young people to have the opportunity to play an amazing team sport which has grown so much in the last few years in Culloden. At a time when fitness and wellbeing are an absolute necessity, (and the massively high costs of indoor halls pre-covid means that an outdoor court may be the only opportunity to play) I find it difficult to understand why there would be the opportunity to actually reduce outdoor facilities. As a community we require these open spaces, and for builders and planners to remove this from our children is massively disappointing. Hopefully all concerned shall consider the reinstating of the basketball court.Ryan Devlin (Inverness, 2020-08-20)

I have two daughters who play basketball and having a local court to practice on would be very beneficial to them and their fellow team matesJoanne Harper (Inverness, 2020-08-21)

My daughter & the rest of her teammates would really benefit from a local court for extra practice/exercise which can only be a good thing.Teri Riach (Inverness, 2020-08-21)

So many children in the local area play basketball and represent local basketball groups, some of whom have played in the regional development leagues across Scotland and the National challenge. A basketball court is such an important resource for children’s and adult’s physical and mental wellbeing and would be greatly welcomed in Culloden.Lisa Sturgess (Inverness, 2020-08-21)

My son regularly plays basketball for a Inverness club. Javing this facility on his own door step would give him more time to practice get more fresh air (in our current circumstances with covid this has to be a good thing) and most of all have fun. It's very much needed in the Culloden/smithton area.Sarah Thom (Inverness, 2020-08-21)

I am signing because my son used the basketball hoop at Culloden Pitches regularly as he attends a basketball club. Returning a hoop/s or even better, creating a court similar to the one at Castle Heather/ Rosemarkie would be a huge benefit to kids in the area, particularly, if like us, you have little garden space to practice.Kathleen Thomson (Inverness, 2020-08-21)

Recreation space for children, and adults, is vitally important for positive mental health and keeping active. The reinstatement of the basketball court at Culloden would give the community badly needed facilities, which are free to use, for physical activity. For too long, Smithton & Culloden have been ignored and let down when it comes to providing good, accessible sports facilities.Gary Brown (Inverness, 2020-08-22)

Far too many sports arenas are unavailable at the moment- having the basketball hoop may seem insignificant but the camaraderie and enjoyment derived from team sport and playing together is so important. In these times it is even more imperative that people reconnect. While football is reopening in Scotland it is very disappointing that the decision to get rid of this basketball facility is facile.Karyn Hood (Inverness, 2020-08-22)

Any opportunity to provide equipment, facilities and space for both the young and older (but enthusiastic) residents of the area to improve health and wellbeing should be encouraged, supported and sometimes demanded.
