I dont find this right at all to put an Aldi in Kings Coughton there little village should not need a big 24 hours supermarket. My friends neighbours house is going to be the start of the wall of the car park and they have said that they will not go outside to there garden because the only thing that will be there is the smell of car pollution, crying children, the sound of the supermarket doors everything day, the car engines etc . This is not fair at all they should not need a big shop they already have alcester for that.Josephine Hart (Teguise, 2020-05-23)

I feel the development would be detrimental to the immediate locality causing traffic issues and unwanted noise and air pollution. There seem to be other more favourable locations to site the scheme that are less invasive to local residents.

I don’t feel it’s needed with one in Studley and one in Stratford there also hasn’t been appropriate consultations about it it would be far better positioned on industrial estate or where the old greig centre isRebecca gilbert (Alcester, 2020-05-23)

I’m signing this because it is simply NOT required. There is an Aldi store not 3 miles away.
This store would remove the footfall from Alcester High Street, would bring huge congestion to what is ordinarily an exceptionally busy road through a residential area - it is also a direct route to the local A&E department and in constant use.

I may not live in Alcester anymore, but should this Aldi be built you will be crippling the local economy and destroying a village lifestyle. A big point to make is that the surrounding roads and paths are in no shape ready for increased traffic for cars and pedestrians. This is a must fix, but by no means does it mean put an unneccessary building when the locals have no complaints making the journey out of town when the already large enough Tesco covers what locals need. It is not a case of modernisation but a case of profit in a town that has survived without an Aldi up till this point.Sam Adams (Banff, 2020-05-23)

I’m signing this because I am worried about the following:1) increase in traffic including more artic lorries delivering to Aldies.
2) The extra traffic means we will not be able to cross the road.
3) Extra traffic means air And noise pollution
4) we are a small Hamlet which is not suited for a big store
5) the roofing company opposite already have artic lorries blocking the flow of traffic in the mornings waiting for the company to open its gate.

A435 is already a very busy road and the noise from traffic is quite disturbing. Crossing the road is extremely difficult especially during school hours.A supermarket in the proposed location will be very bad for Kings Coughton residents as it would create congestion, noise pollution and tranquility.
There are suitable areas elsewhere for a supermarket in Alcester.

Kings Coughton is a small Hamlet, we have tried for years to have some form of traffic control. How much more traffic can this stretch of road take with lorries taking a short cut between motorways. Eastern Gateway is also routing traffic through our villages! Aldi already has stores in Studley and Stratford. Construction will bring chaos on the road, what affect will it have on our local high street? We are a small community with adequate facilities. The pictures of the proposed store are a complete misrepresentation of the area, it shows a row of houses that are not there and also a right hand turn into the store, the road is not wide enough to take the turning. the planned expansion of the Studley store was turned down due to traffic restrictions. There are no alternative routes for Kings Coughton residents to walk into Alcester with only one footpath on the same side as the proposed store.Catherine Field (Kings Coughton, 2020-05-24)

• This is designated GREEN BELT - this is done to safeguard the country side.• Green belt land is designed to keep areas permanently open and free from development. The proposed would be building in the green belt. This is overdevelopment of a rural site and also reducing the openness of the countryside.
This application also does not accord with the development plan and local plan in force in the area for the land it relates to. Would be significantly detrimental to the immediate setting and the environment which may include the habitat of three species of bats.
Already a very busy road A435 for this Aldi shopping will not only increase the volume of traffic but may create further dangerous situations by trying to allow traffic to enter the A435 from two sides of the road.
Finally, the planning reforms in March 2018 specifically protected the green belt land around towns.

This road is extremely busy and the main link between a number of villages, by adding an Aldi will just add to the problem and will directly affect the local residents quality of life and those who use this road to commute between the villages…..Furthermore, there is an Aldi a few miles away in Studley - Birmingham Rd, Studley B80 7BG (why is there a need for another in such proximity?) not to add that the town of Alcester has a Waitrose a Tesco Express and a thriving high street which has a number of independent retailers that focus on the food sector. These independent retailers could also see a decline in business, and this could lead to another high street being left derelict.
I would suggest the money planned to open a new store should be used to improve the current store in Studley.

Our son and his family live in the house immediately adjoining the proposed development. Over the past six years we have shared their home, and especially the garden which is central to their daily life. We feel strongly that the noise, air and light pollution, which is a concomitant of this development, will have a severely detrimental effect on the health and wellbeing of our grandchildren and the wildlife that has enjoyed this sanctuary. We also believe that our grandchildren's safety, when walking to and from school and the homes of friends and relatives, will be compromised as pedestrians tend unconsciously to take the most obvious and direct route.Viv Noon (Alcester, 2020-05-25)

I have many concerns regarding this, already mentioned . There’s no need for a supermarket here and it would not serve our village and Alcester either in any wayGabor Simon (Kings Coughton, 2020-05-26)

My parents live in kings Coughton this road is already an accident waiting to happen. The congestion of a morning is horrendous as it is. We live in Bidford and would welcome an Aldi or other supermarket as there are no thriving village shops unlike the Alcester High street. Through this difficult time Alcester high street shops have surpassed themselves with kindness and generosity for their community. What a way to repay that kindness by doing them out of much needed business. The council is quick to accept their offers of help in this COVID crisis now please give something back to the proprietors of Alcester and vote against these planning proposals. Don’t ruin a quaint town with further commercial supermarkets when there is one within adequate reach of Alcester and it’s surrounding villagesAmy Butler (Bidford on Avon, 2020-05-26)

It will cause several problems including but not limited to: more traffic congestion, additional traffic pollution and noise, noise from Aldi customers (trolleys, car engine idling, etc) and increased light pollution especially in winter.C Hudson (Kings Coughton, 2020-05-26)
#111
The traffic pressure on the A435 through Kings Coughton is already acute due to commuter traffic and the road would need to be reconstructed to make any entry/exit system safe for drivers and pedestrians, which will spoil the the ambiance and character of Kings Coughton village. Alcester is already well served by supermarket/food stores for the size of the town and there are already several Aldi stores within easy driving distance. The site in Kings Coughton is not easily accessed from the town by pedestrians and the roundabout and crossing facilities are not safe.
Karon Swinburn (Alcester, 2020-05-26)

The proposal will only further damage retailers in Alcester town centre: at best it will transfer jobs, not create new ones. The store would leave further holes in Alcester high street. Over the past few years we have seen some new artisan bakeries (Butter Street) and Delicatessens (Pantry Ann’s) - they have a distinctive offer, and they have had a tough enough time with Covid-19. Moreover, there is enough current choice for groceries with Simply Fresh, Tesco Express and Waitrose - bigger shops can be found in Evesham/ Stratford. If local residents want an Aldi they can find one less than 4 miles up the road in Studley. Also, Arden Road, already a half-mile dangerous race track for cars and lorries, will see a further increase in traffic totally ignoring the 30 mph speed limit. As for the A435 this is supposed to be a main arterial road, the store will cause hold ups backing up to the Arden roundabout.Roy McMaster (Alcester, 2020-05-27)
#119
There is no need for this supermarket. It will affect local shops and trade in Alcester. There is already an Aldi up the road at Studley, 7minutes away. Traffic on Arden road will increase which is already set to do so with the extension of the industrial estate, and is used as a cut through to the A435 causing more air pollution.Susan McMaster (Alcester, 2020-05-27)

My family live in Kings Coughton and I grew up there. The road is far too busy for a residential area already, the addition of Aldi would only increase traffic, noise and pollution. Both Alcester and Studley have supermarkets and another supermarket on this road is unnecessary.Nileena Premchand (London, 2020-05-27)
#122
I object to an Aldi being built in King's Coughton. This is out of character, brings added danger to traffic and pedestrians along the A435 along with more noise / light pollution. We already have an Aldi not 5 mins drive away and have four similar outlets 1 mile away in Alcester. This is not required and does not compliment the area. We are already being swamped by the trading estate expanding & and having had extensions carried at out SIG. Not necessary, brings nothing we haven't already got to King's CoughtonBrian Lees (ALCESTER, 2020-05-27)

This is the wrong location for the store. During peak hours the traffic is stationary along the road and backs up right into the town. A store here will cause chaos.Lisa Doherty (Alcester, 2020-05-28)
#129
There is already too much traffic in the area. It would just increase traffic, noise. Pollution . Kings Coughton is a very small village. There is an Aldi just 3.4 miles away in the town of Studley. Alcester has a good selection of shopping. With small independent shops as well as a Waitrose.Sue Johnson (Kings coughton, 2020-05-28)
#130
I am signing because I believe this to be a totally unsuitable site for this development. The narrow A road is already busy for most of the day and there is concern that this traffic (maily HGVs) will increase with the proposed major industrial/commercial development off the A435 at Reddirch. Further proposed housing off the Birmingham Road in Alcester will cause additional pressures as well as parents picking up children from the Grammar School.David Hall (Alcester, 2020-05-28)
#131
This development is not needed.Kings Coughton and Alcester are already very well served with food stores. In addition there is already an Aldi a short distance away.
The proximity of the large roundabout and Sig Roofspace (with its very large delivery vehicles arriving and departing) would mean that the additional high volume of traffic accessing Aldi would certainly overwhelm this already congested and often bottlenecked area.
As pedestrians between Kings Coughton and Alcester will have no choice but to cross a most likely busy, two way traffic stream created by the site proposals, their safety will be compromised.
Virginia Gunton (Kings Coughton, 2020-05-28)
#136
I agee with the objections. In addition, access and egress to kings coughton lane will be adversely affected. As will those who live along the 435 together with the moat house and other businesses.
Pedestrian crossing of the road will be even more difficult than it is now.
The hold up on the a435 will impact the entire area. Whether to the 435, the industrial estates in alcester and to the west Midlands generally via the current route.
Andrew Harris (Kings coughton., 2020-05-29)

I’ve lived in kings coughton for 25 years and the road has become unbearable with constant noise and pollution. From 7 am to 7 pm the road is consumed with traffic and most of the time it is bumper to bumper. Aldi will add to this problem massively. The road is impassable already and with the amount of footfall That Aldi will bring will increase the issues within King’s Coughton. People in higher authority really need to start thinking about the welfare of the residents from such things as mental health to potential breathing difficulties that will come with an Aldi. When we first moved into the area a bypass was talked about but got shelved because of cost. Also this will impact with the town shops in the high street and we need to encourage people coming into the town and with an Aldi it will become a one stop shop. We are surrounded by supermarkets and there is an Aldi 3 miles away in studley plus all the other supermarkets in close proximity from Redditch to Stratford. This is a disaster waiting to happen !Stephen Polhill (Alcester, 2020-05-30)

The main road is busy enough at the moment, it can not handle the increased traffic of a new store.Ben Jackson (Alcester, 2020-05-31)
#140
the A435 is already far too congested especially when you consider that King's Coughton is meant to be a residential area. This store will make the situation much worse to the detriment of the residents of King's Coughton and Alcester who will experience problems using surrounding roads which will also become blocked.Stephanie Jackson (King's Coughton, 2020-05-31)
#142
This is a close knit local community, which already has to deal with increased traffic on the Birmingham road since the development of the moat house pub. There should be no reason to have a supermarket located so closely to houses.Lauren Polhill (Alcester, 2020-06-02)

I'm signing this petition because it will have a massive detrimental affect of the local business', in particular the local high street, which is already seeing shops close. The additional traffic that this store will attract will impact dramatically on the already busy and dangerous A435. Not to mention that the Kings Coughton area is one of the few remaining country English villages that should remain unspolit by multi national commercial business'.Emma Nolan (Redditch, 2020-06-05)

I do not support the sitting of a supermarket in this residential location.Vanessa Evans (Stratford-upon-Avon, 2020-06-08)

I am concerned about Kings Coughton Lane being used as a rat run for traffic avoiding the increased levels of congestion along Birmingham Road from the roundabout and through the village. The speed limit is 40 which in my opinion is to high now let alone when there will be increased traffic, supplies lorry traffic and pedestrian activity. I am moving into a property in Kings Coughton in the next few weeks and my children will have to confront an even busier road with no pedestrian crossing or safe way of crossing unsupervised. I am concerned that noise levels will increase in the village. The character of the village will be spoilt. The land falls within a rural area. I do not believe there is the market need for the Aldi in Alcester. I happily travel to Stratford to the large Aldi there. I genuinely think it a bad idea and the benefits do not oust the disadvantages.Eleanor Bevan-Davies (Alcester, 2020-06-10)

There is already an Aldi on the same road in Studley 3.5 miles away. Alcester has a thriving independent shop culture that has already been ravaged by COVID-19 - it is unacceptable to allow this unnecessary development which benefits no-one except Aldi.Antony Lowe (Alcester, 2020-06-17)
#155
There is no need for Aldi in Alcester. Everybody would have to drive there and it would negatively impact business in town. If you want to shop in Aldi, which is a great value supermarket, then travel to Studley, Stratford or Evesham.Nigel Bethell (Alcester, 2020-07-03)
#156
I travelled out of Alcester towards Reddich on A435 on weekdays. School and work trafic is already bad enough when litter collections on Tuesday mornings. A little roundabout by Aldi Studley could be congested by cars turning into Aldi car park at 8:30am.I could imagine 10times worse with a big Aldi built by Alcester roundabout. SDC should study trafic volume in the peak time on that strech, they would reject an application for the safety of everyone itravelling in the area It's just a wrong location, not against Aldi.
Yasuko Lewitt (Alcester, 2020-07-11)

The proposed Aldi store is much to near a major road Island and would be a major danger to both road uses and pedestrians. If will create pollution and noise.
The proposed store would be a major cause of having a very negative impact on the character of Alcester.
Aldi has 4 stores within a 10 mile distance of Alcester - the nearest being 5 miles away.
