Schools should not reopen. Don't experiment with our children. Social distancing is not applicable in schools.

Priya kara valabh (Johannesburg, 2020-04-29)

#36

This is a crazy idea, very senseless. SA not even reached the top of the curve.. Not enough tests done.. A very selfish agenda.. First it was forceful CSE with the Minister of Education.. Now excited to see kids infected.. Is this a plan to push the Vaccine sooner using the innocent kids as trial?

1.makes children scapegoats and sheep led to the slaughter, probably to secure school teachers salaries..

2. This renders the Lockdown, and the rules attached to it Nul and Void, then we must all go back to work, let's just go see when death comes then..

I honestly think it is not safe for the kids to go back to school. It puts them at a higher risk. My child's safety and health comes first.

Valerie May (Johannesburg, 2020-04-29)

Infection rate increase daily in South Africa and children will always be children and want to play around each other.
And.what about children who are infected already how they will attend school.
We have rural areas where toilets and system is still old they don't have right hygiene it will be good if goverment will think about those setuation

Our childrens lives matter!

Chantell Pretoruis (Benoni Gauteng, 2020-04-29)

#96

There is no way that children can be protected at school adequately. It is also not healthy to wear fabric masks for long periods. Give the children that do not have access to electronic online schooling worksheet packs and radio and TV school.

Amanda Boniface (Johannesburg, 2020-04-29)

#101

#109

Its still too early for pupils to go back to school especially in eastern Cape... people will die

Siwongiwe Mbusi (Alice, 2020-04-29)

#111

I think this is a big mistake, you are basically sending the kids to the front line in a war. This will be the most dangerous decision the government can make. Have a look at European countries, they went through this before us and the kids are only going back to school later, especially the younger ones...

Russell Dippenaar (Cape Town, 2020-04-29)

#113

Children are social beings who will not understand why they cannot play with their friends. They will lose their masks and will not maintain social distancing.

Ina Gericke (Benoni, 2020-04-29)

#115

I'm signing this petition because my kids arent safe at school and there is 40 kids in a class, social distancing will be hard as classrooms are small. My kids mean more than a lost year at school I refuse to put my kids at risk.No school for my kids and dont care about education as I need my kids more than them needing school.

Caroline Khader (Johannesburg, 2020-04-29)

Thandeka Kubeka (Kempton Park, 2020-04-29)

#125

A lot of these children are HIV positive, diabetic, asthmatic and a range of other health concerns and their wellbeing is being overlooked

Michelle Gordon (Kzn, 2020-04-29)

#134

My child's life is far more important than opening schools at the moment. Govt needs to decontaminate school buildings, provide masks and sanitiser for each child plus sanitiser for general building and staff, provide thermal thermometers etc. It is also impossible to social distsnce at any school in SA, yet govt expect our children to place themselves in harms way when we adults have strict guidelines to follow in places of work. Education can wait a bit longer till these OHS procedures are in place. Lives, on the other hand, are not something to be tested and tried. Lives matter!

Tracy Sith (Port Elizabeth, 2020-04-29)

#135

Taslima Africawala (Johannesburg, 2020-04-29)

#143

I believe it is far too early to allow our children back into schools where there is overcrowding and understaffing. Not to mention the fact that most learners travel via public transport. It is far to risky to their health and the schools will not be prepared to deal with this pandemic.

Liezel Seele (Nigel, 2020-04-29)

#147

I'm a teacher and feel like this virus is going to effect all of us. Let the virus calm down first and then reopen schools. Or classrooms aren't big enough for learners to sit 1 meter apart. Or learners come with overloaded taxis to school. Why do you want to open now. Our lives are more important then education. No teachers no teaching the learners. If the learners get the virus at school then the department will have another esue of parents blaming them.

Anaricha Kuhn (Johannesburg, 2020-04-29)

My child is diabetic

Morongwa’s Dlamini (Mbombela, 2020-04-29)

Life of my son is of utmost importance than his education.

Lefa Molapo (Graskop, 2020-04-29)

#176

I have a T1 diabetic son in grade 7 and Iam not comfortable sending him back to school.

Mariza O'Reilly (King William's Town, 2020-04-29)

#177

It's risky to send children back to school to become carriers of the virus back to their parents or grandparents, I have a son who usually when he has normal flu it progress to bronchitis and pneumonia and he end up being admitted by failing to breath even though its normal flu, what more if he can get corona, will his lungs cope?

Lunghile Mabunda (Pretoria, 2020-04-29)

#178

Kids and educators won't be safe at school now.

Emmanuel Mpho Khorommbi (Makhado, 2020-04-29)

Because it's a huge risk to open schools while there is no cure for coronavirus. Learners will never adhere to social distance at school.

Nelisiwe Khumalo (Benoni, 2020-04-29)

Going to school will cause a drastic increase in COVID-19 cases , we need to be aware of the high risk and not open school until it's safe to do so

Fazil Pillay (Pietermaritzburg, 2020-04-29)

#192

There is no way as a nation we can say we in lockdown have only essential people going to work yet we are prepare to send our children in the masses back to school using public transport which is high contact, being in a classroom with 30 and more learners are they going to be 1.5m apart, have all schools been sanitized? Are they kitted with PPE? Does each child have their own textbook? Will each child sit at their own desk. Winter is coming and this is a disaster waiting to happen.

Yolanda Poyer (Cape Town, 2020-04-29)
