As the owner of a tkd school for over half of my life, I have seen the Olympics inspire greatness in my students (and myself) time after time. Not this year. Even my youngest students agree that these uniforms look ridiculous. They certainly don't motivate anyone to reach for the Olympic platform, since no one wants to wear those!

Am sick and tired of how taekwondo has changed went from a power fast flowing martial sport to flip flappy on one foot kicking. This is the final straw legging and a dress!!!

How about Muslim (and other) athletes who prefer the lose, traditional, Dobok that is not so figure hugging?? And loose, stretchy materials are so much more comfortable, and keep you cool! Hence why they're used across most Martial Arts. Why change what's been working perfectly well so far?!

I am a parent of a 7 year old Taekwondo Player and the the President of Parents Association in Masbate City Philippines. I'm signing because we have invested to the current Dobok which is also expensive in the Philippines. I bought 3 Doboks 2 for Training purposes And a separate competition Dobok. And in our Province we treat Dobok as a sacred Thing not just a uniform and fashion trend and it has been respected not just in the Gym but during Regional Competition.

Taekwondo is losing its tradition and strength as a sport. This is not the way to go if we are promoting a martial arts. Also tights is not as functional for kicking than loose pants. It draws unnecessary attention to the shape of a fighters bodily shape than the actual sport. I disagree with all of the recent changes to the sport. No more the sport is applicable to self defense.

The old uniform is like it is for a reason.
Before being a sport Taekwondo is a martial art and we should respect its origins, culture and traditions (which the old uniform is one). Also sparing is not just a simple combat, it's also a strategy game where you try (in a fraction of a second) guess your opponent's move and at the same time hide yours. That is impossible with the new uniform as you can see everything through.
If the effect wanted with the new uniform was to make it more appealing then it completely fail its objective as it just looks ridiculous!
