The bonfire has always been a tradition in Aylesbury. It's a great safe way for the children to experience a bonfire.

Every year we visit this bonfire and have done so since our children were small. We have always felt safe and thought it was very well organised. I have boasted to others on Facebook about this great event and how lucky we are to be able to visit it. It is the only time my children get to see a real fire safely, I'm sure most people are the same with central heating in most houses. How can children realise the danger of fire without ever seeing one and they can do that at this event with people present who will ensure their safety. My children are also aware of the history of bonfires and how it is part of our Halloween tradition.

I am signing because I have grown up in Aylesbury and I have now bought a house in Aylesbury and this was always a great and only organised and supervised bonfire for kids in the community and I think it is really sad that our children now growing up in our community won't have the same joy we had when we were kids. This will not help stop bonfires it will do the opposite and drive the wrong type of bonfires to now go up in our community.

I am from the area and it cause no disruption to the area and is good to keep traditons going for the kids . I really dont want to be at a bonfire with 100 drink kids . My child does not need to see this

I don't see why it's been stopped. Great activity for families on Halloween

(Tallaght, 2017-10-25)

#17

Since I've been bringing my 2 kids they've both loved it, ive never seen any trouble, the people who organise it are a credit to the local area.. and as a family event for Halloween it'll be sorely missed

(Dublin, 2017-10-25)

This bonfire has been one of the few things to bring the local community together through the years and has always been carried out in a safe and respectful manner.
It would be a complete disservice to the area to discontinue it
Please reinstate

The church fire is a family event never ever has there been a problem it's a tradition in our home and all the neighbours to go there is a lovely thermosphere no problems ever.. Don't punish the good people in Aylesbury for what happens else where... So sick of people taking the fun away things have been hard for so long for people now you want to take the small bit of happiness away... Stop

I live in the area and believe this is great for local children and families

(Tallaght, 2017-10-25)

#22

Its for the kids what happened in the park happens elsewhere aswell why let a few kids wreck it for others

(Dublin, 2017-10-25)

#26

Its a great tradition i have shared with my mam and dad and now i would like to share with with my own family in the future. Always well organised and safe and a good evening for the local parish and community

(Dublin, 2017-10-25)

#36

My kids were looking forward to it :)

(Tallaght, 2017-10-25)

#39

It's better to have an organised safe bonfire rather than an unsafe one which will happen if this is taken away.

(Tallaght, dublin, 2017-10-25)

#40

Its been a tradition for years and all the kids love it

(Dublin, 2017-10-25)

#43

Think its disgraceful small kids missing out on a well supervised bonfire because teenagers have their own one and cause havoc and are going to do it anyway

(Dublin, 2017-10-25)

#47

What's the reason to not have it? It's either blaming the antisocial behaviour or lack of volunteers.

(Tallaght, 2017-10-25)

#48

This is a great way to pull the community together and to help keep young people away from trouble

(Dublin, 2017-10-25)

#51

I went last year it was a very enjoyable event

(Dublin, 2017-10-25)

#52

We should have an organized supervised bonfire in Aylesbury as we always have had in the past

(Dublin 24, 2017-10-25)

#53

I think the bonfire really brough a good community spirit to the area and have the kids somewhere to go - this should not be stopped because other older children can't behave - the police should be around to prevent any problems with them on the other field and leave the church bonfire to go ahead

(Dublin, 2017-10-25)

#54

My family love this bonfire, it has been a great family event over the years with no trouble at it.

(Tallaght, 2017-10-25)

#55

You cancelled a family event that's safely run because some people run unsafe ones else where???????? How stupid are you people....... it's not Halloween without a fire

(Aylesbury tallaght, 2017-10-25)

#57

My special needs son really enjoyed the bonfire and it's safe for him and the other kids from the estate

(Aylesbury, 2017-10-25)

#60

Think this is ridiculous that the bonfire has been cancelled. Myself and my family love going every year as I know it's going to be a safe event for the kids and It's always well run. I'm so disappointed I appreciate that an alternative event has been put on for the kids but it's on from 5-8pm. Now I can't speak for everyone but my kids go trick or treating at about 5.30/6 and usually don't stop til they are going around to the bonfire so how is this event going to work. It's ridiculous. If the SAFE bonfire isnt going to go ahead I'd say you'll find loads of little illegal ones happening which I very much hope doesn't happen.

(Dublin 24, 2017-10-25)

I have brought my 5 year old son every year as it was safe and secure... We would gather at it after trick or treating with our neighbours, it was very enjoyable and there was also great excitement, a great atmosphere, everyone having fun... I have seen any anti-social behaviour while been at it.... This is a massive loss to the community and you can be guaranteed there will be a huge amount of unsafe bonfires lit now on Halloween night...

(Aylesbury, 2017-10-25)

#71

Its always been there

(Tallaght, 2017-10-25)

#74

Our family always enjoyed the church bone fire.

(Dublin, 2017-10-26)

#76

Been bringing my kids to this bonfire for years. There is always a lovely sense of community at it. Terrible that the kids will no longer experience it

(Dublin, 2017-10-26)

#79

It’s something that kids have always looked forward to and it wouldn’t be the same without it and with the right supervision there should be no reason for it to be taken away

(Tallaght, 2017-10-26)

#82

It's an Aylesbury tradition

(Tallaght, 2017-10-26)

#83

It's been a part of my kids lives for years always a great advent shame to see it been done away with

(Tallaght, 2017-10-26)

#84

Because I think its a shame that the church bonfire was cancelled.

(Dublin, 2017-10-26)

#88

It's a tradition we all grew up with and want our kids to have the same

(Dublin, 2017-10-27)

#89

I have been going to this organised bonfire since I was a kid & have brought my own children for the last 8 years. The trouble last year was not related to the church bonfire but instead on the field beside the community centre. Stopping the organised bonfire is just going to make these other bonfires worse. The alternative is having a family evening between 5 & 8 at the community centre which is directly beside where the trouble was last year & it is right at the time when my kids go trick or treating. Thanks Laura

Not having a bonfire this year won't stop the behaviour of last year. Let's show our kids that the good don't get punished for the behaviour of a few bad.

(Aylesbury, 2017-10-27)

#93

The church bonfire has been part of the community since I was a child. It’s safe, we’ll run and important social event for our children on Halloween night.

(Aulesbury, 2017-10-27)

(Dublin, 2017-10-28)

#107

I don't know who decided to cancel it in the first place

(Dublin, 2017-10-29)

#108

Its shocking

(Dublin, 2017-10-29)

#110

This bonfire has been a part of the community for as long as I can remember. It brings the community together every year as a tradition. I don't think it's fair that a couple of drunk louts, that came from an illegal fire have been able to stop this tradition

(Dublin, 2017-10-29)
