I don't want to see another family friendly pub turned into flats or a part of rotherhithes history demolished let alone save my job along with so many others

(London, 2016-12-30)

#3

This family run pub is the centre of a community. Jobs will be lost as well as a home. It's disgraceful that an establishment like this should be closed and replaced by overpriced housing that will not be of any use to the community but financially benifical to the developers. Shame on them for destroying this community.

(Orpington, 2016-12-31)

#5

I come from the area and when I go back to visit it's the only decent pub to have a drink

(Kent , 2016-12-31)

#6

I think they should keep this pub open its always been a good pub staff are lovely

(London, 2016-12-31)

#7

I'm signing this because the China is a great pub and would hate to see knocked down

(South east london, 2016-12-31)

#9

It's my local pub, great community

(London , 2016-12-31)

#11

Because this pub has been in my life for 20+ years many memories their and a lovely place and great people

(London , 2016-12-31)

#12

I'm signing because the China Hall has been a big part of my life for 16 years and I've been goi there for so long. I'd hate to see it knocked down and it would squander whatever history is left. Me and my family have become so involved with the pub for a long time and I think it's downright wrong, disrespectful and ridiculous to turn such an incredible family place into more flats. Please don't knock it down. It would mean so much to everyone.

(Kent, 2016-12-31)

#14

This is my family the best pub in Rotherhithe

(Newmarket, 2016-12-31)

#16

#17

Hub of the community plus my local for 28+ years

(Dartford, 2017-01-01)

#19

I'm signing because I've been in there a few times on match days and it's pubs like this that need to be kept open for both football fans and the local community

(DONCASTER, 2017-01-01)

#21

I've been drinking there since I was old enough to drink, fantastic community pub, brings so many people together, we shouldn't lose it.

(London, 2017-01-01)

#25

We have lost too many community assets to short-term greed.

(London, 2017-01-01)

#28

The China Hall is a family run, welcoming public house. It's a place where young and old meet and share their lives together. It would be a terrible shame if this was taken away. It's part of the history of Bermonsey.

(London, 2017-01-02)

#29

The china hall has been part of my life for 20 years u could not find a more warm friendly pub Linda and mick and there kids are like a second family to me it would be a crying shame and loss of the pub closed

(London , 2017-01-02)

#30

The China Hall has become "our local " over the years and have spent many happy hours in there. We have had parties in there including christenings, untold birthdays and wakes after funerals. We have become to love MICK and Linda and their children and feel very much at home in there! If this long standing pub were to shut we would feel at a total loss and would not want or have anywhere else to go! I cannot believe that the breweries are selling off all of the pubs for a money making scheme. We need somewhere to go and celebrate even if it is just a drink or two after work.

(London, 2017-01-02)

#31

Because it's part of history and is good to have things like this is the area so our children can learn about where they grow up

(Greenwich , 2017-01-02)

#34

I love this pub
All the memories people and homely feel ❤

(Bolton, 2017-01-02)

#37

It's a lovely family run pub never any trouble lovely locals. Great location for a nice drink with friends and family. Would be a lose to loose the pub

(London , 2017-01-02)

#39

It's a great piece of history! There's no other pub like it in south London! Very welcoming and will be a massive shame if it's gone!!

(London, 2017-01-02)

#44

My husband is a regular at this pub and plays for the darts team. I am from Bermondsey/Rotherhite area and I am shocked at this decision. Too many pubs have been lost already and I hope we can save the China Hall.

(London, 2017-01-03)

#45

The best and last remaining family run pub in the area...fantastic landlords and needs to be kept alive.

(London, 2017-01-03)

#46

We need to keep our heritage.

(London, 2017-01-03)

#49

Got loads of great memories from this great pub #LongLiveTheChina

(London, 2017-01-03)

#51

tO KEEP A PIECE OF HISTORY IN THE COMMUNITY AS TOO MANY PUBLIC HOUSES ARE BEING DEMOLISHED FOR PROPERTY - TOO MANY PROPERTIES NOT ENOUGH PUBS

(Bermondsey , 2017-01-03)

#52

Too many pubs are being forced to shut by developers

(Canterbury , 2017-01-03)

#53

This is a great pub and has many OAP's who live alone and go this pub to socialise and enjoy theirselves. If this pub goes these old people will have no where to go and will most probably get very depressed and die early. Also why turn this pub into flats? The boatman has just been knocked down to be turned into flats why do you need more flats??

(London, 2017-01-03)

#55

My husband ask ne out in there

(chathan, 2017-01-03)

#56

There will be no local pubs left in the area, Mick & Lyn have always been great hosts.

(Rye, 2017-01-03)

#57

Why turn yet another local friendly pub in to more overpriced flats.

(Rotherhithe , 2017-01-03)

#60

This is a fantastic friendly tradition pub. I've got some good memories of days/ nights in there with friends :-)

(Kettering , 2017-01-03)

#61

I'm appalled at all this selling off for more money in "their" pockets, when a family & a bloody hardworking one are virtually just told thanks, see you later after 30+ years... disgusted don't even start me off... sickening!

(London, 2017-01-03)

#62

This is part of Bermondsey heritage! You cannot keep doing this

(London, 2017-01-03)

#66

Losing to many good pubs

(London, 2017-01-03)

#69

Such good memories of this pub and they are our friends

(Kent, 2017-01-03)

#70

The area has lost a lot over the years and been replaced by unaffordable flats. Local pubs are great for the community even more so when they have history!!!

(London, 2017-01-03)

#71

I am signing because it would be such a shame to lose such a great pub

(London, 2017-01-03)

#75

I'm signing because I'm now 23 and have spent alot of occasions in here it's a lovely little pub especially on the weekends where it is thriving also my career has just started as i love to sing and these wonderful people Mick and Linda have gave me that amazing opportunity to start my singing career to have occasional gigs in there it's a big shame that all of these historical buildings are being taken away from us! SAVE THE CHINA HALL!!!

(London, 2017-01-04)

#84

Not nice to see our pubs close for flats,

(Rotherhithe , 2017-01-04)

#87

This public house has been used by my family since it first opened over the centuries, I believe in change and progress but not at the expense of something historical and iconic.

(Southend, 2017-01-04)

#88

We're losing too many pubs to developers building unaffordable flats in this area.

(London, 2017-01-04)

#89

Long term customer and friend

(London, 2017-01-04)

#91

Too many of our public houses are being turned into flats not everyone likes to drink at home we do like to go out and socialise .

(Blackheath , 2017-01-04)

#92

I've been drinking here for 12 years

(London, 2017-01-04)

#97

Its essential that the bedrocks of local communities are protected against the vile surge of sociopathic, profiteering, private development companies. Public houses must be protected.

(London, 2017-01-04)

#98

Its a great pub and I use it regularly

(London , 2017-01-04)

#99

it's great family run pub

#105

It should stay everyone in bermondsey have shared at least 1 excellent experience in this pub x

(Bexley , 2017-01-04)

#109

This is one of the few local community pubs left in the area and still does a good trade. I have been to lots of Birthday, Christmas and New years celebrations here, over the years. Why should the local community miss out, Just for another private developer to make money?

(London, 2017-01-04)

#113

It's disgusting what property developers will do to a community for a profit building houses local people can't afford

(London, 2017-01-05)

#115

#savethechina #communitypub #se16

(Darlington , 2017-01-05)

#119

The China Hall is part of the history of Surrey Docks and local area

(London, 2017-01-05)

#122

...

(Essex, 2017-01-05)

#123

This should be listed and kept as a pub in this community, we don't need more flats we need somewhere to come together.

(London , 2017-01-05)

#126

It would be really upsetting to see such a wonderful place getting pulled down and upsetting the community that are local to this pub.

(Livingston , 2017-01-05)

#133

Should be protected

(Darlington , 2017-01-05)

#134

I'm a geordie we are none to party and hands down this is the place to be it will be a real sham if I see this go come on guys save this pub coz you will miss it and once it's gone it's gone so don't let it come to that please !!!!!!

(Newcastle , 2017-01-05)

#136

Same happened to our local pub and it's sadly missed so know how it feels and wouldn't want it to happen to anybody else . All the best

(Livingston , 2017-01-05)

#141

I've been using this pub for years and it has been an institution for the community and needs to stay. One of the last family run pubs in Bermondsey.

(London, 2017-01-05)

#142

We are losing too many of our local pubs to property owners!

(London, 2017-01-05)

#143

The pub should remain open - it's a lovely family run pub that gives back to the community and so many public houses are being taken away from our community to accommodate developers plans to build flats after flats

(London, 2017-01-05)

#145

I'm signing as I think we have lost enough local pubs where you can go and enjoy yourself and meet new people

(London, 2017-01-05)

#146

this is a pub that shouldnt be shut down the family have run this place for years

(london, 2017-01-05)

#149

It's a family run pub that caters for all, bring old and young together.

(London , 2017-01-05)

#151

Too much history has already been taken away from us, if the China hall goes another established local community will be torn apart, there is nowhere else for friends to meet.

(LONDON, 2017-01-05)

#152

Great pub. Great management. Great all round.

(Deptford , 2017-01-05)

(London , 2017-01-05)

(London, 2017-01-05)

#159

A fantastic pub would be a big loss to lose such a great place

(Kent, 2017-01-05)

#160

Pubs are being closed for flats all the time and it's not right. It's our heritage. The China hall is run by a lovely family and they deserve better.

(London, 2017-01-05)

It's a lovely friendly pub with great people in it

(London, 2017-01-06)

#175

This is a community institution and we don't need any more private flats

(London, 2017-01-06)

#177

This is my local and without a doubt the most friendly pub you could ever wish for. The customers are like friends as are Mick, Linda and all the family. Why should developers who know nothing of the area just come in and destroy the community. I wonder how they would feel if one day a developer came along and decided to demolish there home.?

(Rotherhithe. London, 2017-01-06)

#179

I love the pub always made welcome

(London, 2017-01-06)

#191

Its a local pub full of history in the local area.

(London, 2017-01-08)

#193

I'm signing this petition because I have great memories in this pub over the years, sadly I don't get to visit as much as I would like. Please keep this public house open for the locals it's a great place for them to meet for whatever reason.

(Corfu, 2017-01-08)

#195

(kent, 2017-01-08)

#199

Pubs,landladies/landlords don't come around like this often. The China Hall is a one off and a very special part of Bemondsey's heritage/History and it would be a damn right shame should this be taken away from the community! Do people not realise this is people's jobs and livelihoods & all they've ever known for years and they think it's okay to just take it away from people? So not right & so not fair! Save the China! It will be the best and decent thing that you ever do! Such a wonderful traditional Wnglish pub, these are a rare breed nowdays so why do we want to take yet another away? Absolutel travesty!

(London, 2017-01-09)
