Petition Supporting Roberta Mitchell in Response to Eviction and Trespass Letter

We, the undersigned members of McLeod Lake Indian Band] and community residents, stand together to express our full support for Roberta Mitchell regarding the recent eviction and trespass notice issued against her.
We believe:
1. Housing and Community Belonging Are Fundamental Rights: As a member of this community, Roberta Mitchell has the right to live in dignity and peace, with access to housing and land traditionally belonging to our people.
2. Fair Process Must Be Upheld: Any decisions affecting members’ living situations should be transparent, equitable, and based on mutual respect and open communication.
3. Unity Is Our Strength: The actions taken against Roberta Mitchell undermine our community values of mutual care and support. We must strive for solutions that foster unity rather than division.
We request:
1. That Roberta Mitchells eviction and trespass notice be immediately reviewed and reconsidered, with an opportunity for them to present their perspective in a fair and unbiased forum.
2. That the leadership works collaboratively with all members to ensure clear policies and practices regarding housing, land use, and disputes, reflecting the best interests of our community as a whole.
3. That efforts are made to resolve this matter amicably, with reconciliation and healing as the ultimate goals.
