Let Kazinczy Street be a pedestrian street!

The Kazinczy street in the VIIth district of Budapest should finally become a real pedestrian street: it should be completely pedestrianised, with lots of plants and comfortable meeting points in place of the parking lots.

Why it is important?

In the centre of Budapest, there should finally be a healthy balance between public transport and car use. Inner-VIIth district does not have a single pedestrian street, and it is really important to have more. On 22nd September 2024, we spent a whole day testing what it would be like if Kazinczy Street became a pedestrian street. During the day there was a huge demand for this: families, couples, walkers and city dwellers came to one of Budapest's best streets for recreation. And at night, with the ban on cars, the constant loud honking of the horns, which had been a very annoying part of the 'street atmosphere', was also eliminated. Kazinczy Street became a much more pleasant place to walk, day and night. Let Kazinczy Street be a really good place, let Kazinczy Street finally be a pedestrian street 365 days a year!
