For whatever reason someone kills another person its a sin and therefore is a crime. And the Nazis killed people who were not "pure" in their mind. Delusion and schizophrenia did have big role in the events, but it was up to an individual to join in or refuse the hysteria. Stalin wasn't an angel by any means(he was sick also), but at least the world is not living under the control of one freak- we have several and tehy can't agree...yet. Thank God!

Это беспредел. Андриса Берзиньша повесить за чествование военных преступников. Будь эти легионеры обычными солдатами я бы не подписал эту петицию. Но они каратели! Убийство в бою и убийство военнопленного или гражданского - это разные вещи.

Even if those legioners were forced to the service and fight against Stalin regime they also were involved in military criminal activities fighting as well against and killing innocent people, soldiers and guerillas - those who were fighting against Nazis. Even regarding exception made by Nurenberg Tribunal those people of the legioners who are still alive has no reason to be proud of their deeds, they are to be ashamed of what they really did against international community which fight against Nazis. I believe they have certain feelings to their companions who has gone in war or as of age but they can express those feelings in their narrow community without marches ina calm and silent manner - majority of international community will never support and appreciate that. They are excused, but the evil things they did are remembered.

Unfrotunately, the attached citation from Wikipedia is just another example of double American standards. In 1950 American have already considered Baltic nationalists as a 5th column in USSR, moreover it was a zenith of movement of "forest brothers" in Latvias- bloody guerillas-partisans sponsored by American and British services.

The other question is: what happened to "1,000 former Latvian Legion soldiers served as guards at the Nuremberg Tribunal". Have  they returned home to Latvia? Have they settled in Germany? No!!!

Judas betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver (Matthew 26:14-16).

They have to guard Nuremberg Tribunal and  to be loyal to the new American master with only one final goal - to get  an assulum in USA.

It is just an illusion that being on military service you could pursuit you own ideals, you have to obey orders of German commanders. And please read more carefully about these innoccent warriors  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schutzstaffel
