You should be a private investigator. And go back to school to learn proper English. YOU HAVE A GRUDGE. IT IS VERY CLEAR. I read the article as well as no matter the issue of the breed, you have gone to extreme measures to hurt the dog owner. The dog should go to another home. And you should go back to school. Dogs bark and protect. That is their job. You must hate dogs or hate the dog owners. You should be ashamed of yourself. Get on some medication as you are a miserable individual. I believe these owners were duped into that article. Shameful journalism to not present both sides. The paper is a sham of pure integrity. It is owned by the Trib but they don't take phone calls, and when your paper is missing you call another country. My dog was bitten by a small dog weighing 5-10 lbs. I know my neighbors have been bit by this tiny dog. But I didn't call to have the dog killed. Again, please get a life or get some help for your anger issues.

 FYI person with a grudge, the LCZ is owned by the Trib. If you want a good source stick to a local newspaper where you don't have to call anothe country for billing or non delivery. The dog owners of this dog were slammed and tricked. I have been bitten by a dog and see dogs all the time due to the fact the electricity goes out all all the time. This means a dog fence will not work. No one would take a photo like that and have the story done at all. My belief is they were fooled by a scam newspaper just like the Sun Times. Stick with the Herald. At lease you call Lake County and get a person in this community on the phone. I am really ashamed to live here and glad our house is for sale, for the 53 issue, the power, the water and the taxes.

 it is hard to be a good dig owner when we cannot keep power on or have fences. this town is a disgrace. we hear gunshots all the time. as a former military person I can tell the difference. Sad we do not have better rules or pretend that this is such a great town. maybe you should look up and see how much crime really goes one here but is never reported. it is on line in case you want to know. they do not include dog issues.

Uhhhh..... because it continues to bite. So if this town sends it away and it continues to bite in other towns then you are ok with this? The newspaper article outlined how it bit not only in Hawthorn Woods, but also in Normal IL, and in Florida. The dog bites no matter where it goes......

BS Detector, you are the only person commenting who has a vendetta against poor Heidi. It's so obvious that you have no soul.

Heidi is a beautiful, living creature of God who has not caused any lasting harm to anyone.  A nip, or quick bite and retreat does not constitute a vicious animal.  Heidi has been evaluated (at our expense) by two professional dog behavorists who state she is not viscous. The Village Board has these written evaluations.  The Village, on the other hand, has never had Heidi evaluated by professional animal behavorists, Animal Control, or a veterinarian, which would be in compliance with the Illinois Animal Control Act.

no nips in three years.  The family owns gulf coast property in florida. normal was only nip not on property and occurred as soaking black youth running from nearby pool tackled dog from behind and continued running away:  angrier dog would have ripped his nuts off.  unlike you, i saw it, i was there.  your local newspaper is what more ordinary people call "fishwrap", and its reporters are paid accordingly - so they live in places like you do.  unlike you, he likely isn't sitting in Marvel comic underware downing coco puffs on line looking to harass.

Folks, please check the fact first before uploading comments. It it is true the dog is vicious and needs to be put down to avoid future catastrophe. Google it and you'll find some articles.

Yes, Google is always my source for validated facts and information! Ha. Why don't you look up the Nineteenth Circuit Court decsion of 3/25/14 and see that the village's finding of vicious was overturned? No authority has found Heidi vicious.

The couple of people writing the vicious comments- i.e., you and 'BS Detector', are obviously haters of us and of dogs. For some insidious reason you want to 'get back' at us through advocating death to our dog.  Who are you to determine that Heidi must die? How arrogant and evil you are. You must be a couple of sad souls.  Do you lurk around in other people's lives as well, advocating harm to them, or are we just the unfortunate recipients of your misplaced wrath?

I have posted this petition and background information on Beau's Heart Facebook page.  I encourage others to visit this page and get the message out to help save Heidi.  The Beau's Heart community will be more than happy to write letters and contact the powers that be to help an animal at risk.  I encourage others to Share this petition with other Facebook pages; especially their local veterinarians who have Facebook pages.  We have to unite fellow animal lovers to save Heidi.  Please don't delay. 

This is unreal, owners are totally irresponsible and incapable of pet ownership. The real victims are the people bit by this dog, lets not lose sight of that.  The dog needs to be stopped for good.

 PROPAGANDA is an insideous and dangerous mechanism. It costs lives.  The press was supposed to inform so as to protect the people from, especially, the government. Too often it is the mouthpiece of government, even little local government and the 'fourth column' becomes the fifth estate.  It does this knowing government is so involved in everything; that without mouthing for it there is not much else deemed 'news' and these outlets, small and large will perish. Among the tide of the outgoing was NEWSWEEK, in 2013.  It's more than lies, it's that so much of what it says is not so.  Such is the current malfeasance of the 'Faily Feral' (Daily Herald) articles of 10.28, 10.29, Lee Filas, and recent posts here stating Heidi's owners are incapable of pet ownership and were turned away by one of Heidi's evaluators.  

All this is nonsence. There are no 'victims' as no one has a mark nor real trauma. There are no 'damages'. The couple has always owned two to four dogs for the thirty years they've been together. Heidi is the only one of them with an issue of some nipping in her early life. Heidi then did have extra and specialized training, see below.

 As a pup and young dog, Heidi is of the skittish type and did nip, rarely, when she felt cornered. Then she would cower, retreating, frightened.  This was on her property only and important when reading the state and local codes, one of the many failures by the village executive and lawyer. No 'biting', Heidi does not attack. There are two (2) village people, not 'at least nine' nipped.  Not good but there is no 'damage'.  

The county behavior specialist, the one qualified to evaluate - to include 'dangerous' or even 'vicious' was never contacted by the village executive, board or lawyer. That label was slapped on by a village officer - who never saw the dog!  

The family had a behavior specialist evaluate Heidi.  She went further and had Heidi evaluated in situ for a month by a second specialist who also worked with Heidi extensively. 

Both their reports, labeled Heidi a loving, loyal dog, further confirming Heidi as skittish, sometimes frightened, but with their help, Heidi has nipped no one in 2.1/2 years.  No, the family was not turned away; both specialists reports are in the record.  

Another executive in the matter, the judge in Waukegan, stated at the end of 30 months, he "most reluctantly grant a stay while the appellate court dockets the case", i.e. reluctantly follow the law.  Activism? Comforting. 

Misinformation. Disinformation.  For what is left of brevity, following are corrections to a few of the thrown around fallacies.

Heidi was thought to have bitten a youth. Not reported was this 'nip incident' followed the sudden tackling from behind driving Heidi to ground by an unsupervised soaking black youth who spun off her snout and ran off laughing back toward the water from where he came. He was never again seen by the family. 

Heidi has not had the pleasure of being within 800 miles of West Palm Beach, nor has she ever bitten, nipped, whatever anyone anytime in Florida.  This errant mal-data is from the mistake-laden logue at animal control, a largely verbal sort of record that - surprise! - is not fact-checked. 

Police are not qualified to label dogs as this or that, mean, dangerous, vicious: a science accorded to the behavior specialist from Animal Control per the state and local codes referred above. 

The dog has been kenneled for 2.1/2 years out of the village - in seven kennels! Six were called by the village officer, claming some authority, non-existant by the court, resulting in Heidi's expulsion from each! The lawyer called the seventh; he was, in short, advised to 'take a hike.' Heidi is very fit and was run by one or more of the parents and three boys almost every day. The kennel fees are HUGE.  

This same judge stated belief that the family colludes with a Mr Bathrick of North Barrington to 'circumvent the court.'  This true dog-lover and dog-rescuer is trying with everything he has to save Heidi. He is easily reachable and anyone can ask him what he has to say about 'collusion.' On that question, your conversation will be brief.  He and his attorney, seeking humane enviroment for Heidi have also appealled to ask that Heidi be allowed to reside in a more humane and decent place than where present now, cooped-up in the un-friendly confines of Lake County Animal Control. Pray for their success.  

Heidi is most especially owned by the family's middle son who along with his family rescued Heidi and her puppy brother, Hero, from a shelter on his tenth birthday. Heidi is his Birthday dog.
