Save Teversal Grange from Demolition!

These venues are few and far between we need to keep and promote what we have

The petition explanation gives the impression that the Trust funds the sport clubs on site. This is actually incorrect as all users are self funded by their members.

There is a working relationship with the Trustees (ADC), Visitors Centre and the clubs.

Be a disgrace been a family pub for many years it was only a couple of years back you would struggle to get a seat on a Saturday night.

Should never have been allowed to close and when it did,the council should have put their efforts into filling it again and not wait until a load of would-be councillors decide to get involved,to try to further their own ends!

The teversal grange was once called Teversal working mens club for local miners and there families to let there hair down and enjoy themselves,Why is it that all the buildings that we grew up with are being pulled down by local councils we should stand up for our heritage and sign against the council so come on people lets protect our heritage.

My parents would be so sad to see the Grange go they spent many many years there and so did we, the council have no feelings or respect for the opinions of the local people who can see ideas for the future of the building yet again another building to disappear

The cost to the council does not come into the equation this building was built for the community,the council, the councilors have to realise that the people of ashfield are the managment of the area not the council and councillors, they are our employees put there buy the public not our employers, its time the people of this country stood up and put these beuracrats in their place so rise up and fight for your community and its heritage people fought and died in wars, mines for this right

Help save the teversal grange love this place part of my childhood

I know for a fact teversal wanted to run the grange but the council overlooked them in favour of the previous tenants, for monetary reasons. It would be disgraceful to lose this building, it is steeped in history, the council should be ashamed.

The council clearly aren't doing enough to rent this property. I am currently looking to open a snooker club to help get more children into the sport. I have been on the phone to the council to be told "nothing is available". What a joke!

This is a good building with a lot of potential, so why demolish it, the council would not have the money to build anything like it again, it is an ideal setting for a wedding venue.

I am disgusted that the council have let the grange fall into the state it has, if they had handed it over to the football,bowls and cricket to run on there own from the start this would never have happened and would have benefited everyone involved.

No vision as always. This club has been there since i can remember. Yes it is run down because it has been left to! To be ball-dosed down makes no sense. No extra parking is needed there is ample all ready. I can not believe that the trust members and council do not see not only the potential but the cherished history and memories this place holds. The venue could get funding if people looked past there nose and it could be turned in to a more modern venue for both the public and the local clubs! It would make the best wedding venue in the area creating huge income and jobs! It would be idea to host local bingo and entertainment during the week days! It does not make any sense at all to have nothing there and nothing that relates to our community. Ether someone is making a quick hand or the the people in the front seats have gone mad. The Old Crown in Hesket Newmarket is owned, in total, by 125 people, who all saved it from closure in 2003. Back then it become Britain's first co-operatively owned pub could something similar be done ?
Take the village of Nenthead in the north Pennines. In 2006 the local shop and post office closed when the owners retired. Residents had to make a 10 mile round trip to buy groceries. When it became obvious that they would lose the old shop, villagers decided that the only thing to do was to run one themselves. Although it meant a lot of work for everyone involved, locals managed to set up a community business and they sold shares to raise capital.

Over 100 villagers bought a stake in Nenthead community shop and post office, raising £9,000. Potential funders saw there was a lot of local support for the project and pledged further cash. The shop and post office re-opened in 2007.

Or Penrith cinema the Alhambra, which, facing closure back in 2011, set up a co-operative and sold shares at £150 to buy its building? Following a swell of community support, the landlord granted the cinema another ten year lease so it could stay and supporters didn't have to raise further funds.

Figures show that around 25 local pubs close every week. If we want to safeguard much-needed community services then more local organizations must consider this type of finance mode. Community share schemes allow communities to take control and invest in themselves. In the current financial climate this is best way to deliver sustainable community businesses.

If locals do not want to see this go, it is no good waiting to here what is happening in the local paper and then moan how terrible it is after what ever has happened try standing together as in the term community!

The decision to demolish Teversal Grange is an insult to the people of Teversal, especially those miners who used this building as their Welfare Club for many years. You are ripping the heart out of the community if this demolition goes ahead. You have been greedy in the terms and cost of your Repair all Lease and Business Rates and the blame for the lack of success of these premises is entirely down to your greed and ineptitude. The building would make a wonderful museum/art gallery, wedding/party venue, first class restaurant and cafe for the people of Teversal, local dog walkers, cycling clubs, horse riders and visitors to the local Caravan Site. The decision is a total disgrace of which you should be ashamed!

The Grange is part of our community and something that should be kept. The whole process has been carried out in an underhand manner and the demolition should not go ahead! It has always been a major meeting place for the locals and visitors alike. Many business people have wanted to take The Grange on but the Business Rates and cost of the Lease are very expensive. The Council are just too greedy and incompetent and cannot be trusted.
