Updated: All here's some information I received from Commissioner Holtkamp related to the September 26th tabled vote, scheduled for October 17th.

 

Our case will be voted on during the 2:00 PM Meeting.


"Informal discussions as well as official meetings are always open to the public. During the 10:00am Work Session each item is read and moved to either the consent or discussion agenda for the 2:00pm Business Session meeting. Consent items are voted on as a group at the Business Session, and discussion items and old items of business are voted on individually. At the end of the Business Session meeting, time is allowed for comments from the audience.

 

Both the Work Session and Business Meetings are held in the auditorium of the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center located at 75 Langley Drive, Lawrenceville, GA 30046.

 

Board of Commissioners’ meetings also can be watched on TV Gwinnett (online or cable TV channel) or @GwinnettGov Facebook Live. More information, including notices, agendas and minutes can be found online at Public Meetings - Gwinnett | Gwinnett County.

Dear All,

 

I'd like to provide a brief summary of last night's Board of Commissioners meeting:

 

The vote regarding the application ended in a tie, with two votes in favor and two against. It's worth noting that only three out of the four commissioners were present, along with the Chairwoman. Consequently, the vote has been postponed until the October 17, 2023 meeting.

 

Before the vote, some noteworthy events occurred:



    1. The applicant delivered their presentation and rebuttal, which contained numerous lies.
    2. When Commissioner Holtkamp proposed a motion to reject the application, neither Commissioners Ku nor Carden seconded the motion. The Chairwoman was unable to second the motion.

 



Here are the next steps to address the situation:



    1. The recording of the applicant's presentation and rebuttal, will be reviewed to identify and document all instances of misinformation.
    2. Each of us should correspond with the commissioners, highlighting the inaccuracies in the presentation.
    3. We should attempt to arrange a meeting with the commissioners to discuss our concerns.
    4. Please mark your calendars for the October 17, 2023 Board of Commissioners meeting, as it will be crucial.

Amendment to 1998 Resolution

Everyone - We have received a copy of a 1999 resolution that amended the 1998 resolution, allowing for an entrance off of Cain Circle. Unlike the 1998 Public Hearing, which was advertised with signs, notice for the 1999 Public Hearing was published in the Gwinnett Daily Post. In light of this new information, we will be omitting the entrance relocation from our argument next week

Board of Commissioners Meeting Reminder

Good morning,

I'd like to gently remind you about the upcoming Board of Commissioners meeting, which is scheduled for September 26, 2023, at 7:00 pm. The meeting will take place at the Gwinnett Justice and Administrative Center, situated at 75 Langley Drive, Lawrenceville, GA 30046. During this gathering, the commissioners will convene to deliberate and cast their votes regarding the current application.

2. Revoke Building Permit

In a recent development, I had a meeting with the planning department last week to discuss the building permit. They provided their interpretation of a condition mentioned in the 1998 Resolution, specifically related to the entrance. According to their interpretation, it stipulates that "No more than one exit/entrance shall be allowed onto Georgia Highway 124." This condition is understood to mean that only one entrance off of Braselton Highway is permitted, while it does not prohibit any other entrances from adjacent streets. I am currently in the process of trying to locate a copy of the complete minutes from that meeting for a more thorough review. However, if anyone happens to possess a copy, please do not hesitate to forward it.

Lastly, I would like to take this opportunity to urge everyone to reach out to the county commissioners and express your personal opposition to the proposed rezoning.

The Planning Commission voted 8-1 to deny this request tonight. Next hurdle is the Board of Commissioners meeting. More information to follow.

September 5, 2023 Public Hearing Update!!!!

All - An update for this upcoming public hearing on September 5, 2023. I learned this week the agenda item for RZC2023-00016, rezoning, is only for the planning commission to vote for either an approval or disapproval. Why? The public hearing where the applicant and opposition spoke was held on July 10, 2023. The only item which was tabled was the vote. Although the chairman requested we all get together and appoint one or two people to speak after the application was initially discussed, this suggestion was made in error. So what are our next steps? First, please plan to to attend the meeting on September 5, 2023. Be there by 6:30 PM to fill the auditorium. Wear RED. Let them know we are still oppose the application. The amount of homeowners who attended the July 10, 2023 meeting in opposition was a surprise to them. Let’s continue to surprise them. Second, email the planning commission and express your opinion to them. As a reminder the applicant during a meeting held on July 27, 2023, was tasked with exploring the viability of relocating the entrance from Cain Circle to Braselton Highway. Requests for an update on this matter were sent out on August 14, 21, and 23 of the same year. Regrettably, up to this point, the applicant has not fulfilled their commitment to provide the requested information.

Upcoming Planning Board Meeting - Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at 7:00 PM

The upcoming planning board session is scheduled for Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at 7:00 PM. I strongly urge all attendees to be present by 6:30 PM, consider wearing red attire if available, and contribute to filling the auditorium.

 

Regarding an action point assigned to the applicant during the meeting held on July 27, 2023, they were tasked with exploring the viability of relocating the entrance from Cain Circle to Braselton Highway. Requests for an update on this matter were sent out on August 14, 21, and 23 of the same year. Regrettably, up to this point, the applicant has not fulfilled their commitment to provide the requested information.

The developers/owners have agreed to install a privacy fence instead of a chain link fence along the boundary of their property adjacent to the properties on Cain Circle. This should enhance privacy and aesthetics for the residents on Cain Circle. Additionally, the developers/owners are looking into the feasibility of relocating the entrance from Cain Circle to Braselton Highway. More information to follow after the developers/owners have provided their update.
