I am concerned about the animals

Margaret Birks (Harrogate, 2020-10-21)

#1406

I'm signing because the distress caused to so many vulnerable people, domestic and wild animals us completely unacceptable. At the end of the day, it's all about making money for the event organizers, who don't give a fig about the distress they cause. If, on the other hand, the event organizers would use silent fireworks, I would be behind them 100%

Toni Conlon (Tunbridge Wells, 2020-10-21)

#1408

Many animals suffer extreme stress which can lend in d.eath. I volunteer at Hopefield Animal Sanctuary and we lost 1 of our horses, Popkei, last year as a direct result of fireworks

Mary Losq (Hornchurch, 2020-10-21)

#1413

The proposal apparently intends to benefit financially due to the easy access from the "close proximity to residential housing" this would seem to show a reckless disregard for the welfare of the animals and for some of the people in the immediate neighbourhood.

Maurice Hogarth (Garswood, Wigan, 2020-10-21)

#1414

This has too stop

Jo Parkes (Birmingham, 2020-10-21)

#1419

Although I am not local to this display I understand how disruptive these displays can be as an owner of horses and dogs the distress my animals have to go through from October through to January 4 months of random fireworks!!

Jane Scarlett (Watford, 2020-10-21)

#1420

Fireworks are so terrifying for animals. Wherever these shows are held, animals shake in fear, but holding it here is crazy

Sarah Wickstead (Audlem, Crewe, 2020-10-21)

#1421

This is so wrong for wildlife and animals

Sally Reeve (Stratford upon avon, 2020-10-21)

#1422

This an ill thought out and Potentially cruel event. As civilised human beings we have a responsibility to take care of the creatures that can’t take care of themselves - unforgivable to inflict harm for such an inconsequential event

Victoria Jones (Diss, 2020-10-21)

#1424

I was a fireman and experienced the horrors of Fireworks and the distress they cause to animals, cows and horses losing babies, people mishandling them and getting burns, (Including a child who had a catherine wheel fly off the pin and embed in his chest, causing his death in the end, many days of horrific suffering and out of control bonfires with sparks setting light to thatched roofs and sheds in gardens and also houses. I also would like them to be banned because the controls on their sales are not monitored, we have a shed centre Nr here that sells fireworks 364 days a year, and supermarkets selling them like food.

Keith Verrall (Loughborough, 2020-10-21)

#1426

Although I prefer organised displays I am disgusted that an organiser would select a site surrounded by animals and why on 2 nights, I always thought bonfire night [singular] says it all - get real people!!!!!!!!!!

Ann Mair (Preston, 2020-10-21)

#1428

I care about animals and hate to see them terrified.

Barbara Wilson (Oldham, 2020-10-21)

#1429

I cannot believe this display is going ahead. Most places have cancelled theirs due to the Pandemic with such close contact at social gatherings. This one is especially bad as it is so close to areas where animals are kept. This one needs to be cancelled for several reasons and over 2 days is crazy.

Carol Coomber (Herne Bay, 2020-10-21)

#1430

This is clearly distressing and harmful for animals and people and should not go ahead.

Valerie Moody (Wellington, 2020-10-21)

#1436

To hold an event here is madness. Have they the relevant permissions and Covid compliant?

Martyn Reed (Little Clacton, 2020-10-21)

#1439

I'm signing because I fully concur with the sentiments of the author of this petition and the reasonings why this seems misplaced. It could very easily be relocated to a more suitable and thought through location.

Emma Keir (Edinburgh, 2020-10-21)

#1440

Fireworks are a modern day terror weapon!
They scare old folks and animals, pollute the planet and present a fire and safety hazard.

Barry Hodgson (Wolverhampton, 2020-10-21)

#1441

I have pets and so do a lot of my friends, and fireworks are extremely distressful to them, which makes me stressed as well whenever it's New Year's or the 4th of July. I object to any fireworks shows being held in close proximity to animals that may be terrified by them.

Lory Ono (Kaneohe, 2020-10-21)

#1442

I'm signing because the kennels and animals around. Unsuitable place for fireworks and just ridiculous.

Sophie Bishop (Frinton on sea, 2020-10-21)

#1443

My main concern is serious harm to animals, so this must not be allowed.

Martin Herbert (London, 2020-10-21)

#1444

FIREWORKS ARE A DANGEROUS WEAPON IN THE HANDS OF YOBS.

David Lavery (Whitehaven, 2020-10-21)

#1446

Fireworks need banning animals don't understand and are petrified people are so heartless

Julie Williams (Manchester, 2020-10-21)

#1451

The is a totally unnecessary event in the wrong location that will cause needless suffering to animals,it’s a great risk and local farmers and livestock owners Lidl losing barns , hay and straw. And winter field for their animals

Joanne Bonnar (Clacton-on-Sea, 2020-10-21)

#1455

Once is enough!

Lynn BRENNAN (Horsham, 2020-10-21)

#1459

This is unacceptable

Roderick Chunn (London, 2020-10-21)

#1462

I’m signing because I’m such an animal lover I have two dogs so I know first hand what it’s like I’ve seen cats running in the streets to hide they need to ban fireworks altogether

Elizabeth Lancaster (Newcastle, 2020-10-21)

#1466

Animals need to be protected.

Janet Peart Neé Swann (Clacton on sea, 2020-10-21)

#1467

Apart from the distress these displays cause what about covid security? How is that going to be done in the dark. Madness

Christine Cooper (Walberton, Arundel, 2020-10-21)

#1472

A lot of people and animals don't like fireworks.
Please move them to somewhere more suitable.

Martin Powell (Macclesfield, 2020-10-21)

#1473

Fireworks cause much distress to animals (wild and domestic) and to some elderly folk and those who are already suffering from mental health conditions. At this time is it appropriate to have a display as you will not be able to guarantee a covid secure gathering

Denise Parfitt (Blackwood, 2020-10-21)

#1476

Its disgraceful to have fireworks next to a kennels and cattery and on fields bordering horse paddocks.

Nicki Fenwick-Raven (Frinton on sea, 2020-10-21)

#1478

I am an animal lover

David Stacey (Hucknall, 2020-10-21)

#1480

The elderly living alone and animals always suffer. But nobody gives a dam

Jean Higgins (Aylesbury, 2020-10-21)

#1481

The distress to animals that these fireworks Will cause

Sue Skinner (Miltonkeynes, 2020-10-21)

#1483

Fireworks cause too much trauma to animals😢

Yvonne Jama (Liverpool, 2020-10-21)

#1493

Fireworks used in any way causes extreme distress and I truly believe they need to be banned. Every year the same firework dilemma is brought to our attention. For the welfare of all animals that suffer immense levels of distress it's important that once again we have to try to put a stop to these noisy, menacing and totally unnecessary products.

Dee Gill (Wigan, 2020-10-21)

#1495

I care more about animals than a lot of money going up in smoke.

Alison Sowerby (London, 2020-10-21)

#1503

A more appropriate site should be found

Paul Read (Wanstead, 2020-10-21)

#1508

Animals deserve not to be terrified and potentially hurt . Fireworks should be banned. Full stop.

susan stewart (Glasgow, 2020-10-21)

#1514

I don't agree with a huge fireworks display on land which is in the middle of fields containing livestock, horses, barns containing winter hay, straw and feed. Not to mention the fire risk and risk to animals injuring themselves. It seems that this idea which is fabulous is simply in the wrong location. It hasn't been planned or thought out very well, with zero consideration for residents in the area.

Lucy Hardwick (Great Bentley, 2020-10-21)

#1518

I have pets and it’s too distressing for them

Sally Redfearn (East Molesey, 2020-10-21)

#1519

Fireworks = Air pollution for no point.

Bjorn Madsen (Oxford, 2020-10-21)

#1521

Fireworks should be a thing of the past. They only serve to scare animals, some older folk and even some young folk. They are a danger to wildlife and leave a mess.

Mary Bell (Coatbridge, 2020-10-21)

#1522

Animals are frightened by fireworks

Emma Ogles (Carshalton, 2020-10-21)

#1525

Im’e signing this petition because we have dogs who are terrified by load bangs from fireworks. It takes hours to calm them down after such events.

Anthony Fillingham (Kidderminster, 2020-10-21)

#1529

i don't believe that distress caused to animals and wildlife - not mention pollution and litter is justified

lesley gilbert (london, 2020-10-21)

#1530

I have horses near by, this is unnecessary stress for them

Sarah Alix (Weeley, Clacton on sea, 2020-10-21)

#1531

I'm signing because fireworks cause enormous fear and distress to many animals. To hold a large firework display in a place where there are many animals nearby is insensitive at best and cruel and callous at worst. If this event has to go ahead it should be moved to a more suitable venue away from domestic pets and livestock.

Pam Flanagan (Wherwell, 2020-10-21)

#1532

I’m signing this petition because besides the undue stress on animals and the risk of injuries to the public that these events can hold, I cannot understand an event like this being organised with the present COVID 19 pandemic.

Brian Southern (Manchester, 2020-10-21)

#1534

This is not needed at a Car boot even and it needs to be stopped at all places except proper Events properly organized by license only.?

Audrey Blackwell (Walsall, 2020-10-21)

#1535

This problem is country wide. There is no law to regulate these displays and there should be!

Jenny Bigg (Wootton, Abingdon, 2020-10-21)

#1538

I don’t agree the firework shows should take place because of the trauma it can cause the local animals

Sophie Johnston (Brighton, 2020-10-21)

#1542

Try living with a nervous animal whilst fireworks are going off left right and centre. People think it's their right, no its not their right to frighten animals senseless.

Amanda Hawes (Brighton, 2020-10-21)

#1546

The sound, the flashing lights and debris that is left from the firework in fields with livestock. Also over the years the fireworks sound has changed from a loud bang to a totally excessive sound that is unnecessary.

T. Flitcroft (Matlock, 2020-10-21)

#1549

This type of display in not acceptable in the 21st century. It will cause acute distress in an agricultural area especially in the light of the current epidemic.

Hilary Gotham (Pinner, 2020-10-21)

#1551

I hate the distress caused to animals (and humans)

Anne Duncan (Formby, 2020-10-21)

#1552

I agree that it is inappropriate to have fireworks near animals who are become very distressed at the sights and sounds. Also some elderly people do not enjoy fireworks
A more appropriate site should be found so that all firework lovers can enjoy themselves whilst protecting those who do not

olga cairns (london, 2020-10-21)

#1553

because these firework displays are not needed and terrify animals

william neal (Eastbourne, 2020-10-21)

#1554

Our animals/pets do not deserve the torment and upset it causes them.

Lauren Duncan (Middlesex, 2020-10-21)

#1560

I own a dog who is terrified of fireworks and I live beside a park which usually hosts a display every year run by METRO RADIO, my dog is 12 now and I fear the stress will kill her even though she has medication. Why not have silent fireworks like ITALY nice display no noise everybody happy.

Gillian Harrison (Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, 2020-10-21)

#1561

We must control the use of fireworks

David Carter (Market Drayton, 2020-10-21)

#1565

I have pets and care about animal welfare, I hate this time of year for the stress and fear it brings for animals and people.

Janet Holroyd (Halifax, 2020-10-21)

#1567

Fireworks too close to animals are extremely stressful and unnecessary. People also suffer at this time of year from fireworks displays. I do not understand the pleasure taken from blowing things up at the expense of life and wellbeing of animals and people. It’s about time the human race started to look after each other instead of causing stress and distress. Silent fireworks are available!

Sarah Brandon (Gloucester, 2020-10-21)

#1568

This is ridiculous and thoughtless. There must be a safer site or don’t go ahead!

Helen Clark (Aylesbury, 2020-10-21)

#1570

I I hate fireworks they scare animals and are sold irresponsibly to idiots who let them off anywhere. The bang should be taken out of them too as there is no point to that either.

Mary Torrens-Burton (Hove, 2020-10-21)

#1572

The distress caused by fireworks to animals is heartbreaking to watch

Irena Fraser (Kendal, 2020-10-21)

#1575

Fireworks are dangerous and cruel to all pet animals, livestock and wildlife.

Jeremy Hatcher (Gloucester, 2020-10-21)

#1576

It damages nesting birds and animals

Cheryl Hawkes (Bideford, 2020-10-21)

#1577

It's animal cruelty

Colette Molloy (Preston, 2020-10-21)

#1583

The stress it causes to animals and as I am typing this a firework has just gone off sounding like a war has started they sound like bombs and my dog is hiding under my legs shaking now. These fireworks have been going off in my area for 2 months now soon it will be all year through something needs to be done.

Andrew Walton (Blackpool, 2020-10-21)

#1591

Pets, livestock and wildlife matter far more than people's gratification... or should do!

Michala Harding (Swansea, 2020-10-21)

#1594

I’m signing because the animals affected by this, can’t.

Julie Baldan (Hornchurch, 2020-10-21)

#1600

Fireworks cause considerable stress to animals and even heart attacks.
