Closing Oakfield Primary will seriously adversely affect children who are already impacted by what is a disadvantaged and deprived area on the Island.Laurie Woodford (Sandown, 2024-09-21)

I am writing as a concerned grandparent regarding recent discussions about closing Oakfield. My grandson, Ralphy, has recently started attending the school and is flourishing there. He has grown more confident and happy in a short period of time, and the supportive environment the school provides is playing a significant role in his development.
This school has quickly become a second home for him, where he feels safe and encouraged to explore his potential. The teachers and staff have made a positive and lasting impact, and the close-knit community atmosphere helps children like my grandson thrive. Given the critical role this school plays in the lives of its students and the broader community, I urge you to reconsider any decisions that could negatively affect its continuity.

Keep local village schools open for local children. Make education a pleasure for our kids.Elizabeth Wathen (Isle of wight, 2024-09-25)

I recognise how important this school is to the local community but most of all to the children it serves - there is no viable alternative and the school must be saved!Elizabeth Haynes (NORTH WALSHAM, 2024-09-25)

I want my child to be able to have a personable teaching experience, shutting our schools increases class sizes and is detrimental to our children’s education. The island has always been proud of our community and educational focus for our children, don’t ruin this.Desia Hammond (Ryde, 2024-10-04)

I’m signing because I’m absolutely horrified that the Island council has even thought this was a good idea.We should be able to rely on them to support our community, not thoughtlessly tear it apart and displace some of the youngest of our Island.
I do not have children, nor am I a parent of the school in anyway or associated, but as tax payer and a voter in this community I do think what is planned is shameful for our poor Island.

I think that the primary school is a vital part of the community and it is unfair that the children would have to be split upLorna White (Ryde, 2024-10-08)

This is a wonderful, supportive and caring school with dedicated staff and purpose built new buildings. My children attended several years ago. Closing it would be extremely short-sighted. Please consider alternative options for this school & the local community.Jo D (Ryde, 2024-12-13)
