I have 8 cats and they are terrified of loud bangs and frightening noises. I have to try and calm them, I hate seeing them in this situation. It would be safer for everyone to visit an organized firework display than lighting fireworks in their gardens.

This is outrageous. Who is it that thinks it is acceptable? This area has many, many domesticated and wild animals in very close proximity. Suggest everyone contacts our District councillor, Peter Harris, to ask him to intervene. Details on TDC website. It can’t be allowed to go ahead.Susan Jiggens (Weeley, 2020-10-21)

This firework display will cause untold misery to animals and their owners as they see the stress that the animal suffers. In this day and age fireworks are outdated, dangerous and stressful to animals and people.
BAN THEM ALL AT ANYTIME

These events should not happen near livestock or other field animals. Enough stress is caused to household pets as it is and there is no thought for animals and the harm it can cause.Elaine Parkin (Rogate, 2020-10-21)

Animals are severely traumatised by fireworks. My Staffie is on the verge of a heart attack when fireworks are set off, they just don’t understand what’s happening, and she isn’t alone. They are outdated, dangerous and should be banned.Vanessa Taylor (Heacham, 2020-10-21)

Fireworks are not the same as in my youth, when they were more about colourful community bonfires than ludicrously loud multiple bangs - the traditions have gone out of the window. Given that fireworks can be let off at any time of year these days (weddings and birthdays, for example), they are now a serious and unpredictable nuisance. Manchester might be thought of as entirely urban, but there are still many surrounding rural areas and I completely sympathise with anyone tending to animals, whether they are pets or not. Let us have organised displays only, so everyone knows when and where to expect the noise and flashes, and we can take avoidng actions if necessary. One person's "fun" should never be at the cost of someone else's nightmare! Good luck with the campaign, Alan.Alan Hampson (Manchester, 2020-10-21)

I'm signing because I know how distressing fireworks are for both household pets and farm animals, etc. and how this can lead to animals aborting or running away in terror and injuring themselves. The sheer volume of noise is so upsetting for people as well, especially the elderly, those with babies or young children woken from sleep and anyone who finds loud noise unacceptable or frightening.Joan Harvey (Saltash, 2020-10-21)
#1302
I live with animals I my property and also feed strays outside. Fireworks are not only dangerous and pollutants, they terrify animals. In a time of reflection of who we are and how the environment is being destroyed by humans, firework displays are a total disregard for the hard work many others are doing to protect it.Elaine Fogarty (Middlesex, 2020-10-21)

There is no point in a firework display at this time anyway - people should not be gathering in groups and for this reason alone it should be cancelled. Donate the money that would have been spent to a worthy cause.Mrs S Robertson (Isle of Whithorn, 2020-10-21)
