Dodgy business practices need to be put to an end and venues that cater for live music help foster a sorely lacking sense of social cohesion.

Sowaar bar has been my favourite place to go to. To see my favourite bands perform their hearts out, to be surrounded by likeminded people, to spend some quality time with my friends that I love so dearly. I haven't been there since live shows stopped, because that was the main reason I went and got my friends to come along. This has ruined Sowaar not only as a place for entertainment but as a Business, and I just want them back.

Marnus Geldenhuys (Pretoria, 2023-09-03)

The music made me do it

This is the best bar in Pretoria. The home of amazing and affordable shows! It gives the alternative Afrikaans Music scene a platform that is invaluable to the growth of this cultural and artistic space. It is a place where people come together and experience community, good food and great music.

It would be a travesty to lose it!

Suelandre Keys (pretoria, 2023-09-03)

#816

This venue is critical to the betterment of arts and culture in our area. We sorely need more places to improve community. It’s also not right that the landlord was not upfront.

Because I'm a supporter of this bar and the live shows they host. Giving them a fine of over a million rand and not allowing them to rezone is absurd.
