I am signing to advocate and support just cause for incrimination, when dealing with seafarers. There is blatant disregard for basic human rights, when it comes to seafarers on high seas.

Sytuacja jest skandaliczne. Mój mąż też jest oficerem marynarki handlowej, a ja dziennikarzem śledczym, znamy realia takich przemytów.

I too am a Master Mariner and know the impossibility for the crew of ships travelling the world to monitor all illegal activities that might be carried out by outside agencies such as this case clearly indicates. There is no reason for the crew and master to be kept in prison, they could have been returned under bail conditions whilst the authorioties carried out their protracted investigations.

I feel it is scandalous for a martime professional to be treated this way

(Oban, 2019-12-09)

#8522

This is an absolute injustice taking place. This captain should be released immediately and efforts should be focused on finding the real criminals. Most likely both Colombian and Mexican cartel members with government officials in their pockets.

Because this is unfair, and always happening is south america a person who reported a crime is the one who is being is jail.

Cases like this happen far too often. The international community needs to step up for their sailors and officers.

I think the criminalisation of seafarers should stop and if seafarers are found in the middle of dificult situations, they should not be treated like criminas, until probed guilty.....

We need to support our fellow seafarer whatever rank it is and whatever country they belong. Only seafarers truly understand the feeling of how hard life is when on board the ship. We travel all over the world to work and not to do any other illegal work. We work hard for our family to provide what we can give.

(CALOOCAN CITY, 2019-12-10)

#8583

I am signing because it is a tragedy to hold the Captain for any amount of time when he shou;d not be charged as negligent for cargo loaded with prohibited substance. The logistics and shipper from Columbia should be held accountable as the Captain is not able to scan and have xray or drug dogs search the cargo before he receives it on board.
Tragic. He should be immediately released.

This is unacceptable that our Country for such a long time is not able to help to release Master, being Polish Citizen, whom in the end did everything according to the regulations, but still kept in the jail in Mexico.
