On human grounds in the name of justice.Despite all the precautions by the ships staff,no master can ever guarantee that his ship is not carrying any contra band.

#8028

I'm the seaman myself. I know that Captain Lasota fulfill all his duties required in such situation, following maritime low and procedure.

I am appealing to you, Mr. President, in terms of your humanness, capacity as President of the Republic of Poland and history with the “Law and Justice Party”, for your urgent intercession in the case of Polish Master Mariner, Captain Andrzej Lasota, Master of Cyprus registered Multi-Purpose Dry Cargo vessel, UBC Savannah (IMO 9220976), who has been held in custody, by the Mexican authorities, since the 5th August 2019, already almost 4 months, without either due cause or trial.

(Słupsk, 2019-12-04)

#8035

The Captain did nothing wrong to deserve this. It is not humanly possible to know if there is something hidden on a ship by someone. The possibilities are countless.

I'm signing because Captain Andrzej Lasota deserves due process and I believe that at his age and years of experience as Master Mariner, he would not intentionally do anything that will harm the ship and his subordinates.

He is a good sailor and not a criminal.

(Pampanga, 2019-12-05)

#8131

I know the crew are innocent.

(Davao, 2019-12-05)

#8136

by all accounts Captain Andrvej Lasota diligently performed his duties as MAster of Cyprus-registered UBC Savannah in reporting the discovery by his crew of packages of Cocaine (240kg) deep in the cargo of coal the vessel was carrying. Mexico's 'shoot-the-messenger' approach in jailing seafarers without trial or due process and with insufficient medical care is contrary to international Conventions on the treatment of seafarers.

(Surry Hills, 2019-12-05)

#8144

Jako marynarz nie chciałbym być kiedykolwiek w podobnej sytuacji. Życzę Kapitanowi z całego serca, aby ten koszmar najszybciej się skończył.

(Międzyzdroje, 2019-12-05)

#8146

The man is innocent and the case has no merit to criminalise the Master of ship...

(Bergen, 2019-12-05)

#8147

I am signing a petition to release our ships captain of UBC Savannah. Because he is a good captain. And i believed that seafarer is very much aware of prohibited drugs..I am please to the Mexican authirity to release our Captain Andrzej Lasota (Andy). As a christmas gift to the seafarer and to hid family. I am also a seafarer 3E with the same company.

(Zamboanga City, 2019-12-05)

#8151

Yes im signing this petition

(Quezon city, 2019-12-06)

#8155

it is unfair, unjust, inhumane to criminalise seafarer who's only involvement is to report the illegal drugs, in which the 'subject' cleary shows a new drug cartel scheme.

I hope that with this petition capt. andrej will be freed as soon as possible.

(Dedham, MA, 2019-12-06)

#8176

He was my Previous captain a year ago on that vessel Savannah and he is one of a Very good Captain i work with, a responsible one and im pretty sure he is not involve in that scenario.

(Manila, 2019-12-06)

#8186

I'm signing because I'm also a seafarer and we need fair judicial support on this matter.

(Balanga, 2019-12-06)

#8187

He's Innocent including all crew.

(Las pinas, 2019-12-06)

#8192

I am signing because it can't be that a captain is arrest for such a long period of time without evidence that he has been involved in the criminal act of drug smuggling. As a Captain he is master over all but if he and his crew performed and documented a proper drug and stowaway search before leaving the last port of call before Mexico. He performed his duties with the required care and a prison arrest for four months is excessive hardness. Best regards Ingmar Müller

(Duisburg, 2019-12-06)

#8194

Hes a good man

(Bacolod, 2019-12-06)

#8197

As a long time bull ship officer I can positively state that there is no way of knowing exactly what comes aboard the ship via the loading belt, as it is quickly covered by tons of cargo. Captain Andy did exactly as I would have done after finding a suspicious package in cargo. He is being punished for doing his job properly .

(Galveston, TX. USA, 2019-12-06)

#8199

Seafarers should be protected from powerful drug cartels. Save seafarers, jail the actual perpetrators who blatantly use inocent seafarers for profit.
