It’s an unfairly allocated cost

Vicki Marais-Seanepoel (Joburg, 2024-07-06)

#6610

I'm enough of these mismanagement of funds by City power and the high tariff hikes.

Nonhlanhla Tsholetsane (Roodepoort, 2024-07-06)

#6614

I’m signing because of the ridiculous increases after 6 months. I can’t afford such increases

Kelebogile Makumbi (Roodepoort, 2024-07-06)

#6615

It's ridiculous and a stupid half thought scheme to cover governments and energy ministry mismanagement of funds.

You cannot compare prepaid and post paid electricity.

This shows the incompetence and arrogance of our government and the anc.

I was not consulted about this idiocy imposed on my life. I barely afford electricity for the month how am I to pay an access 200 plus for incompetence.

Sibusiso Mazibuko (Johannesburg, 2024-07-06)

#6616

I'm unable to afford the electricity and with this 200 added its really stressing
with the recent situation which we are unable to live with.city power will lead people to have mental illness.

Kebapetse mokgosi (Johannesburg, 2024-07-06)

#6618

This is unfair to target people that are paying for electricity. Collect from illegal connections and government departments with outstanding services accounts.

Marna Heunis (Johannesburg, 2024-07-06)

#6620

I’m signing because I am against the increase in electricity tariffs. Consumers cannot be liable for mismanagement of funds in your municipalities.

Teboho Chabedi (Johannesburg, 2024-07-06)

#6627

The people shouldn't be taking the fall for mismanagement

Dionne MacDonald (Johannesburg, 2024-07-06)

#6631

I'm signing this because I hate being ripped off. The harder you work and the more honest you are in SA the more you get screwed over by the authorities ...to make up for the "non-paying" voters who get everything you pay for...for free. Cross subsidizing is not sustainable..

Johann Marx (Roodepoort, 2024-07-06)

#6632

Cause your charges are insane and u are taking from the poor, we can’t continue like this

Noluthando Dibakwane (Johannesburg, 2024-07-06)

#6633

The increase is unfair as the rates includes service fees

Niko Godfrey (Johannesburg, 2024-07-06)

#6635

The increase is way to high and affordable

Adielah Johnson (Johannesburg, 2024-07-06)

#6636

This makes no sense and the economy does not allow

Boitumelo Mogale (Johannesburg, 2024-07-06)

#6638

We as a household cannot afford this service fee of R 200 on prepaid even if our gross income is more than R6k. It is unfair and sudden, especially winter, we have to spend more on electricity no matter how power saving practising.

Thuli Fortune (Roodepoort, 2024-07-06)

#6642

I strongly agree with the reason for this petition.

Yuta Raubenheimer (Johannesburg, 2024-07-06)

Stasha Nulliah (Kzn, 2024-07-06)

#6665

It is just too much, we cannot afford these high tariffs. Salaries are already taxed. 9

Pesonia Williams (Johannesburg, 2024-07-06)

#6666

We have already spent a fortune in solar to provide constant and reliable electricity. And now we have to pay a "service fee" for a service which we barely use.

Antoinette Kriel (Randburg, 2024-07-06)

#6668

Its unfair, not nice. We already buy electricity, most of us don't work and we deserve to have electricity at affordable rates. Already people are paying for a lot of things.

Tidimalo Mogoshane (Johannesburg, 2024-07-06)

#6669

it matters 2 me

Olwam Nhose (Johannesburg, 2024-07-07)

#6670

I'm signing this because no one informed me, and as everyone can see even our government knows that we're struggling to get an end meet, our salaries, we can't even afford to buy bread or tomato, Nersa, city power Eskom. Government. I plead with you reverse this ,R200 every months it's a lot I can't even manage yo buy R100 electricity, so this hayiii man nooo, example where I stay its a flat and we've a prepaid meters not installed by city power. Its a private company of which we've been complaining about this my voltage prepaid since 2020 ,Nersa didn't border to assist, it means the R200 that they're charging us my voltage prepaid it goes straight to their pockets not to city power, cancel this private prepaid meters and instal your meters so that all the money goes straight to Eskom or city power

Tinyiko Baloyi (Johannesburg, 2024-07-07)

#6671

It's ridiculous. We are barely coping with our day to day needs. Start charging those places/individuals that has unlimited electricity and don't pay a cent. The taxpayers/working class must pay for everything. The system would not be so messed up if all responsible are kept accountable. You pay for electricity and most of the time you don't even have because of unnecessary outages. City power take days to repair cables but squattercamp and so called disadvantage areas have unlimited electricity. Enough is enough!!!!! No more abuse. An audit must be done on all municipalities. We are trying to convert to prepaid to save some money but it has become even more expensive. No this is absolute nonsense.

Juanita Orren (Johannesburg, 2024-07-07)

#6673

I am unhappy with the service fees as they are too much & making electricity near unaffordable.

Thuli Ndlovu (Johannesburg, 2024-07-07)

#6674

I’m signing because I cannot afford increased electricity tariffs. We are already struggling with balancing the bond, petrol and food hikes, school fees etc.

This is inconsiderate and unfair.

Nandipha Silika (South Hills, 2024-07-07)

#6676

I cannot afford the the imposed R200.

Sentebaleng Mofokeng (Roodepoort, 2024-07-07)

Nomsa Dladla (Johannesburg, 2024-07-07)

#6678

I'm signing because it's too much to us who are the only member working in the house. I don't get subsidy of anything. I can only say that NERSA and CITY POWER are SELFISH, they only think of themselves because they receive bonuses through us.

Hlekani Nkuna (Johannesburg South, 2024-07-07)

#6682

I am a property owner already distressed

Edward Samakomva (Johannesburg, 2024-07-07)

#6683

We must hold municipalities accountable for the monies paid in rates, electricity and water. They cannot be allowed to mismanage funds and the community remains silent.

Nozipho Matimbi (Johannesburg, 2024-07-07)

#6687

Enough is enough.

Gazelle George (Klerksdorp, 2024-07-07)

#6695

Proper consultation or information should be provided before implementing such decisions

Lungile Ngubane (Johannesburg, 2024-07-07)

#6696

#6702

The rate is to high and the community can't afford it

Raylene Sass (Midrand, 2024-07-07)

Zandile Kubheka (Jhb, 2024-07-07)

#6747

It’s ridiculous to pay more than we have to

Laeeqa Chiboo (Johannesburg, 2024-07-07)

#6749

In this current economic climate, there are more people that could use this “fee” for other necessities

Sarfaraaz Khan (Johannesburg, 2024-07-07)

#6750

Sacha Davids (Johannesburg, 2024-07-07)

#6760

It's ridiculous as we are paying our services honestly and we are not even bypassing electricity. We are paying for squatters and they are being protected at our expense

Mitta Mogale (Roodepoort, 2024-07-07)

#6761

Due to injustice

Riedwaan Dickson (Johannesburg, 2024-07-07)

#6762

The electricity service charge must be scrapped. The burden placed on consumers is too high in an already bad economy. The nersa has already increased the tarrif and charging 200 rands extra should be unlawful. Municipalities must be held accountable for the wasteful expenditures they incur and this money could have been used responsibly to cover their running costs

Rose Makungo (Johannesburg, 2024-07-07)

#6763

The service fee was not implemented fairly as this only feeds further corruption with no added service or value to the public.

Diolinda Pessegueiro (Roodepoort, 2024-07-07)

#6764

This is so hard for a low class ppl like me I can't even afford a TV licence 😭😭😭 😔😔 imagine I'll use fire outside but still pays

Gugu Popoyi (Johannesburg, 2024-07-07)

#6768

The fixed charge applied over and above the exorbitant increase in the kWh rates is excessive. Charges for electricity cannot continue to be increased at multiple times the rate of inflation to cover for corruption and incompetent management at City Power and Eskom.

Peter Maguire (Johannesburg, 2024-07-07)

#6771

I already find it difficult to manage with payments for electricity every month, now there is an added expense. Why target residents who are paying for electricity, target those who are not paying, disconnect them.

Theresa Ogle (Johannesburg, 2024-07-07)

#6772

I'm am fatup with this people really look in SOWETO they light's are never off because they are eating the damn money and now they want extra R200

Donavan Wee (Johannesburg, 2024-07-07)

#6779

I am tired of paying these high prices without discussing with the public

Gary Venter (Edenvale, 2024-07-07)

#6780

The service fee is just too high, considering we're the only ones carrying this cost, after there's been an increase in electricity costs as well... t seems completely unfair on prepaid customers.

Lufuno Sadiki (Johannesburg, 2024-07-07)

#6782

The units are 2 low n we are unemployed which makes it difficult for us 2 buy units

Kamogelo Mashego (Johannesburg, 2024-07-07)

#6783

Nozipho Dlamini (Johannesburg, 2024-07-07)

#6784

The fees are too much i dont want them

Lucky Mabe (Johannesburg, 2024-07-07)

#6785

We can't always be bailing incompetent and money eaters we voted for to run our communities. Electricity is expensive already, whare are we supposed to be getting this R200 to pay for their debt, they are not even going to pay off this debt. This money will be eaten as they always do. Eskom should also be paid first before they supplying municipality with electricity. Even better why are we do going straight to Eskom to buy electricity and remove the middle man called municipality.

Romeo Mohloane (JHB, 2024-07-07)

#6787

This is ridiculous and unaffordable in already struggling times!

Kelly Lee Armstrong (Johannesburg, 2024-07-07)

#6788

I am sick and tired of my hard earned cash being squandered.

Demetrius Baloyi (Johannesburg, 2024-07-07)

#6790

The charge is excessive and totally unacceptable. There is no reason for them to add this amount every month except for pure greed. We know they do not do any improvements or upkeep of the infrastructure. That money is for the mafias of Johannesburg to share out amongst themselves.

Bridget Price (Johannesburg, 2024-07-07)

#6794

I'm pensioner can not afford it, struggling as it is
