This is an important and historic local leisure amenity and as such should be preserved.

Teresa Hinks (Rugeley, 2023-03-02)

#414

I feel there is no need to develop the area of the railway given the size of the site, it seems the developers are being greedy

Gerald Cartwright (Burton on Trent, 2023-03-02)

#417

We should be trying to keep and preserve our history not close and destroy at every easy opportunity, disgraceful behaviour, I'm even in the process of building a steam engine boat from scratch and it's almost done but because its run on coal its frowned upon, This is our history people. Not to mention fantastic engineering from times gone by

Mark Davies (Rugeley, 2023-03-02)

Melinda Hagan (Rugeley, 2023-03-02)

#431

We are loosing vast amounts of land for housing estates let alone destroying a long standing miniature railway that would become a great attraction to those local in the area.

Neil Bottle (Swannington, 2023-03-02)

#432

I believe the facility is quite unique and adds value to our town.

Robert Stevenson (Rugeley, 2023-03-02)

As the previous member of a club that was forced to close down due to vandalism and theft, the loss of infrastructure will never be replaced. Moving the club to a new location results in loss of members to other clubs OR even permanent loss to the hobby.

The livesteam hobby is under threat from all sides and the only hope of it staying alive is the saving of clubs like these worldwide.

Keith Bradley (Guateng, 2023-03-02)

#436

This is a great attraction to the area.

David Williams (Burntwood, 2023-03-02)

#437

I'm signing this petition to save this wonderful railway as I were one of the founder members who built this beautiful railway and feel that it would remain a valuable asset and facility to the area where younger people can go with their families for enjoyment and to also help them learn and understand a little about the history of this countries past....

David Davies (Walsall, 2023-03-02)

#438

Rob Cleverdon (Lichfield, 2023-03-02)

#445

I have family in Rugeley and the model railway is a lovely asset to the town. Redevelopment should make use and expand current assets, not fill them with houses and then have to create more activities for residents.

#450

This is a wonderful asset to our local community that means so much past and present and hopefully future.

Chris Langston (Rugeley, 2023-03-02)

#451

It's not all about the modern, Sometimes it's about keeping the past and molding it to the new so new generations can enjoy it!
The power station was a huge prominent feature of Rugeley and so this should be kept and celebrated for younger generations.

Ian Morrish (Doncaster, 2023-03-02)

#452

It would be a crime to remove part of this railway for the sake of new houses or play areas. Children and their families would get far more enjoyment from seeing and riding on the trains than any modern play area would bring. We need to be encourage model engineering, not destroy it and the hard work and lifelong dedication given by the members of this club.

Alan James (Leicester, 2023-03-02)

#453

I am a member of this society. I joined just before the Covid lockdown and have my own steam locomotive which I intend to run on this magnificent track.
On Joining I was made very welcome by the existing members and I helped clear the site of accumulated vegetation when lockdown rules permitted. The group of engineers are a fantastic and inspirational bunch of people with many years of very valuable experience, and are always keen to help anyone who needs their technical advice. The Miniature Railway in its entirety is an important leisure opportunity for interested people to enjoy.

I was born in Rugeley in 1992. I have seen large areas of its public land sold to property developers, key sites not taken care of whilst funding is transfered to local runs. It would be great to preserve a small part of a rugeley before it started to become a residential and amazon hub
