Eskdale park is stunning and deserves protecting. I am a local and use this park daily. It is a beautiful place for families / friends to gather and enjoy our beautiful nature. Please retain it.

Kristina Beresford (Napier, 2020-08-15)

#402

I want the park left along!

Nadine Leckner (Napier, 2020-08-15)

#403

I'm signing because its the only natural outdoor area in Eskdale. We camp at the Eskdale holiday park and I feel this would ruin the ambience that we go out there for

Barbara Solomon (Napier, 2020-08-15)

#406

its un natural. Bikers have half of the mill block forest to ride around in. Familys like own and 100s of others enjoy eskdale Park as a recreational area for bbqs gatherings, fun in the sum and swimming in the river. Leave eskdale park alone!

Mike croton (Napier, 2020-08-15)

#408

I am totally against it , use some waste land that no one else uses .

Janice Thompson (Whirinaki Eskdale, 2020-08-15)

#410

Because this park is far too beautiful to be turned into anything else!

Rebecca Baillie (Auckland, 2020-08-16)

Becks Clegg (Napier, 2020-08-16)

#423

I have many childhood memories coming out here and I’d hate for something like a car park to ruin such a beautiful park!

Jontelle Herbert (Napier, 2020-08-16)

#425

This park is so much more picturesque and beautiful in its natural state.

Kelly Bell (Napier, 2020-08-16)

#426

We have mountain bike tracks, riding trails all over the HB.
Leave this natural grassed, tree lined picnic area and swimming river alone for families and pets to enjoy.

Karen Seatle (Puketapu, Hawke’s Bay, 2020-08-16)

#427

This park is beautiful and needs to be left as a nature reserve. Its awesome for recreational sports and for picnics. It is the only green park in the area. There are plenty of other places mountain bikers can go with Napier offering alot of tracks. There is a mountain bike track also at Whirinaki. It would be awful to see this park used in such a way and cut up.

Victoria Scott (Hawkes Bay, 2020-08-17)

#430

It's a lovely park as is! Dont destroy it 😡

Lynette Maclean (Matamata, 2020-08-17)

#431

I am signing because it would be just awful to see this park cut up and destroyed. It’s such a beautiful place to go as a family and get back in touch with nature. In summer there is the river for swimming too. I went there as a child myself and now take my kids whenever I can. It’s a beautiful peaceful spot full of natural beauty and there’s not many places like this left where families can go. Please leave it.

Karyn Scott (Taranaki, 2020-08-17)

#436

I want our park to remain the family park it has always been as our family have used it for over 70 years. we want it kept pristine.

Gene Andrew (Taradale, 2020-08-18)

Chris Blair (Whangarei, 2020-08-18)

#447

The Eskdale Park brings more families together than a bike park ever will. Its a place that brings all ages of your family together. I have been going there since I was a young girl. Took my children there and will be able to take our grand daughters there this year as well. Please leave it alone.

Jocelyn Sperling (Napier, 2020-08-18)

#451

Spent many hours at this park as a child and beleive it should be just left alone

Douglas Ramsay (Napier, 2020-08-18)

This is a natural inheritance to future generations residing in Hawke's Bay and all its visitors from other districts.
This area park has many fond memories for all Hawke's Bay and CHB people for many years. For family's to come together.
Schools church groups Boy Scouts , Girl Guides Brownies Life Brigade. Boys and Girls Brigade. Afcare Holiday programs And Many others it should not be up for redevelopment. For any one particular group ..
This belongs to all the community as a whole . The community needs it to nurture the community.

Heather Mitt (Hastings, 2020-08-18)

#460

There are other areas that can be developed for what the district council wants to do - please leave this park alone, it has been used and continues to be used by many HB generations for family occassions etc.

Megan Millar (napier, 2020-08-18)

#461

I’m signing because I had many wonderful childhood memories here, as did my children, and I want my grandchildren to have them as well

I grew up in Hawkesbay and spent so many weekends with my family at this park having picnics and playing cricket. It is a gorgeous place that other children will miss out on if it’s taken away.

Sarah Williams (Wellington, 2020-08-18)

#490

What a stupid idea to turn it into an area that a "VERY LIMITED" number of people can enjoy. We bring the kids here every year as an extended family and we are from out of town now. RIDICULOUS....Whoever thought this up....RIDICULOUS! Go Trina!

Dave Williams (Wellington, 2020-08-18)

#492

I have spent lots of time there

Debbie Williams (Wellington, 2020-08-18)

#494

I remember Eskdale Park as a wide open space for picnics, gatherings or whatever. Various company christmas parties were held there and even 'Cub Day' in the very early 80s. I feel it should stay that way.

Michael Kemp (Sydney, 2020-08-18)

#495

I believe eskdale park needs to be for the use and recreation of everyone not just those involved in a particular sport

Normanna Vevang-Langman (Napier, 2020-08-18)

#496

We have had and will continue to have family picnics in this park. It is a great park for families of all ages to gather and enjoy a day relaxing with trees for shelter from the sun, space to play in etc Please don’t ruin it

Linda Mortensen (Bay View, Napier, 2020-08-18)

#499

The park should be left alone. We spent many summers here an still do. As our worlds gets busy we are losing these quiet beautiful places. Leave it alone

Louise Longtime (Napier, 2020-08-18)

#500

I spent so many weekends of my childhood there, it holds many special memories. I want my children to be able to take their children there and enjoy it too...

Every new years day us group of friends have taken our kids there.since they were babies. They are now teenagers. We spend the whole day. Swim. Picnic. Games. Away from technology. Peaceful. We hope our kids can do the same when they have their own

I Lived in Eskdale for 8 years and had wonderful times at Eskdale Park. A travesty if anything is destroyed or altered.

Grant Adams (Dingley Village, 2020-08-19)

#525

I’m 69 years old and have lived at Westshore all my life. My family have as a tradition always got together on Boxing Day at Eskdale Park and have had picnics /swims there at least 5-6 times during the Summer Months. My family certainly appreciate having that wonderful facility at our disposal. Every time we have visited the park there has always been dozens of other people enjoying their time there as well. My earliest memories as a child were having to get to the park early otherwise you couldn’t get a park because it was packed full.

Warrick Smith (Napier, 2020-08-19)

#528

#529

Don't destroy the park, lots of family memories made and more memories yet to be made by future generations.

Elizabeth Gough (Pappinbarra, 2020-08-19)

#531

We would come here all the time when the children were young. A beautiful peaceful place to picnic and run around. It was a space where people could bring a large gathering for a picnic or BBQ and not be near others in a great setting. Beautiful in Autumn..

Cathy Dixon (Napier, 2020-08-19)

#534

It's our family's go to place to connect, meet & make new friends & savour the rich, natural beauty & enjoy awesome awa. To celebrate & appreciate one of the most cherished historical areas in HB without the concerns of the world!

Trisha SC (NAPIER, 2020-08-19)

#537

I go to this park with my children as well as family and friends during the warmer months. We go for swimming, cricket, picnics, volleyball, baseball, to run, or just lay out under the trees. It is beautiful as it is

Amanda Bolesworth (Napier, 2020-08-19)

#538

This is a beautiful park my family has used for as long as I can remember for Boxing Day picnics and other special occasions.

Neil Shadbolt (Napier, 2020-08-19)

#540

The Eskdale Park has been associated with our family for as long as I can remember. My Dad was a volunteer who every night closed the gates to keep the park safe from deliberate damage. Every weekend we watched my brother and then my son play cricket at the park. At Christmas we enjoy a quiet picnic under the trees. It is steeped in history and how sad it would be to lose such a spot. Remember those who have so much to keep this park for the good of the community. The land was donated and should be respected for the gift it is.

Glenis Bradshaw (Nelson, 2020-08-19)

#547

That was my most memorable place growing up.It needs to be there for kids of the future. Not limited to a few on bikes.

Roy Ramsay (Whanganui, 2020-08-19)

#548

I loved camping there..

Lyn Rangi (Napier, 2020-08-19)

#549

It's a tradition for our family to come to Eskdale Park on the first of January every year to celebrate the year that has been and the year to come. We have been doing it for years and would hate to lose this tradition.

Jane Kirby (Upper Hutt, 2020-08-19)

#552

This is one of the most serene parks with lovely trees, grass to picnic on and a river perfect for swimming. It would be a shame to have the tranquility of this park spoiled with mountain bikes and further development. There are plenty of other areas around Napier/Hastings that would be better suited for mountain biking.

Delia Clare (Auckland, 2020-08-19)

#553

This iconic park has been part of my family for over 60 years, we still bring generations of our family there in the summer to safely swim and picnic.

WARWICK HICKS (NAPIER, 2020-08-19)

#554

I'm signing this, because I remember as a 5yr+, me, my Sister and my Dad & Mum, spending a Sunday afternoon running up and down the Park, trying to fly a kite Dad had made us out of Willow Twigs, Brown Paper String, and screwed up news papers for the tail. I'm now 69yrs so this is how long my memory has lasted.

Jennifer McBride (Hastings, 2020-08-19)

#555

Being raised in Napier, our childhood was enriched with great family and school picnic outings in this park and swimming in the river. Beautiful , happy experiences that should continue for future generations. They've taken our beach, Westshore. Don't take this too.

Jeanette Hicks (Hunterville, 2020-08-19)

#556

I grew up having picnics in this park and want my future children to be able to enjoy it like I did

Emily Rutgers (Brooklyn, 2020-08-19)

#557

I’m not sure if my signature was saved ?

Arama Kihi (Sydney, 2020-08-19)

#558

I'm signing because, leave it alone ya pieces of stuff

Lyndon Gray (napier, 2020-08-19)

#559

Over 60 years ago my parents took me to the wharfies’ picnics. They were wonderful. We all sate under the shade of the trees and had our long lunches. Kids frolicked in the river. The only ones who got sick had eaten too much food as the water wasn’t polluted. I’m fortunate to be able to return to Eskdale Domain on my trips back home (Napier). The thought of this tranquil arbour being transformed into a cheap thrill for a portion of the community is sad, very sad. I liken it to urbanisation on land that is more appropriate to be agricultural. Or, a heritage that is desecrated. There are plenty of hills in HB, ensure the mountain bikers find somewhere more appropriate.

Priscilla Porter (Dunedin, 2020-08-19)

#561

I've regularly stayed at the motorcamp next door and have loved having the beautiful next door, the trees and burdlife are magnificent! The bike riders have the forest across the river for riding, this park in its present state serves everyone.

Sue Sparkes (Kapiti, 2020-08-19)

#566

I grew up in Napier and would often visit Eskdale Park - please preserve its natural beauty.

helen hansen (Tawonga South, 2020-08-19)

#567

When I grew up in the 1960s in Napier, this was a very special place for my family and their friends for picnics, camping holidays and visits. Now, we’re in Tauranga, we often call in there on our way back to Napier. Preserving public green spaces is an important part of coping with climate change too

Bruce Fraser (Tauranga, 2020-08-19)

#574

It should be left for everyone to enjoy , it has so many uses not just bike riding

Lyn West (Napier, 2020-08-20)

#575

I grew up in Napier and used the park every year and now when we come back to visit we bring our son and dog to enjoy the park also.

Andrew Graham (Tauranga, 2020-08-20)

#576

grew up in that park

jake kihi (perth, 2020-08-20)

#577

I call Napier home and i know as populations increase public reserves are disappearring....save Eskdale

Neil Roberts (Swan View, 2020-08-20)

#579

I lie out there and the park should be open to everyone.

Kathleen Graham (Napier, 2020-08-20)

#583

I have used this special park since 1954.
It is a very important picnic and meeting place for all my whanau for generations. Do not destroy our park!

Sandra Hagan (Napier, 2020-08-20)

#584

I wish the park to be preserved for the use and enjoyment off ALL who wish to use the park .. openly and without reserve

john joyce (napier, 2020-08-20)

#586

I loved our family picnics there, it is a beautiful spot and great with the river so close. Build a mountain bike track somewhere else

Vicki Bolderson (Napier, 2020-08-21)

#587

I’d like future generations of families to enjoy this area as much as myself and my family did growing up. We quickly forget what we have until it’s gone.

Kerry Fell (Auckland, 2020-08-21)

#588

I grew up coming to this place as a child and took my children here as children. Don’t takeaway these natural reserves, they are so enjoyable and when I move back home to Napier I have spoken of plans to come back there once again with my family.

Tina Wano (Brisbane, 2020-08-21)

#589

I love Eskdale Park and have many wonderful memories of my times spent there

Paula Katipa-Martinussen (Napier, 2020-08-21)

#590

i love this place

gail rawlings (Napier South, 2020-08-21)

#592

We need to keep these wonderful places as they are meant to be.

Ruth Dawson (Napier, 2020-08-21)

#593

This space has such wonderful, rich history & is a beautiful park & open space which we love visiting. I believe it should remain a natural, green country park for families to enjoy both now & in the future. I absolutely endorse the petion action.

Catherine Reeves (Hastings, 2020-08-21)

#595

My best memories of being with my sister and her four children were Sunday summer outings to Esk River to soak up hot sun and cold water and enjoy a picnic lunch. Free. Healthy. Kiwi-style summer

Dianne Patterson (Auckland, 2020-08-21)

#596

It’s a beautiful, natural park with wonderful picnic spots and fond memories of family days out and get togethers.

Lynn Thurgate (Ottery St Mary, 2020-08-21)

#599

I’m signing because this place is for families and family time as it’s peaceful quiet and has a history of this. The river is amazing for kids, is safe and ideal for summer fun.
I am a mountain biker and enjoy the out doors mountain biking experience but Eskdale Park is not the place to expand the Eskdale Mountain Bike Park to!
I’m all for better trails and park development, but don’t use this place as a trail head.
It will just end up as a busy car park for mountain bikers and loose the quite tranquility it has at the moment!
