Working for a roofing company I have seen some incredible historical restorations. It is always a shame to destroy something that was build incredibly strong and replace it with something inferior. Rustburg School has good bones and deserves to remain standing.

I went to Rustburg in grade school. My 6th grade class was in that building. My Dad, Jesse Cowart Sr and many relatives also attended.. i was sad when they demolished the building with the auditorium.

I am signing this because I love Rustburg and it's history. I graduated from Rustburg in 2010 and my father graduated in 1977 and I do not want no see the school he graduated from demolished. He is no longer alive and I would love to preserve the memories he made there, as well as the ones I made. We have several generations of Rustburg graduates in our family and we want to preserve the history of Rustburg Middle, formerly High school. Please remodel and do not demolish this historic building.

After spending my childhood traveling with my Marine Corps Dad and attending over ten schools already, coming home for good and attending Rustburg was a joy. My 9th grade year was spent there before we moved to Lynchburg. 50 years later and the best friends of my life are still from Rustburg. Because it is part of Rustburg's history. My grandmother, Mary Goff was in the first class that graduated in this building in 1919 along with Thomas Finch (he was a teacher and principle) and Martha Woodson (I believe was Judge Overbey's wife) along with others in her class. I remember my granny telling me she had wrote a paper on why they needed a new school. Her class was the first class to graduate in the new school. Her children, her grandchildren, two of her great-grandchildren and one of her great-great grandchildren...five generations have attended classes in this building.

The school building is a huge part of the history of Rustburg. My mother went there from 1-12th grades. I went in 1978-79, the last year it was Rustburg High School, I graduated from the current RHS.
My children both went there for middle school.
When you're in the building you can feel the history.
