Darrien Lauriault (Windsor, 2020-05-15)

#427

The kids have worked so hard and deserve it he recognition for a job and well done. They lost out on so much and it is causing mental stress. The least we can do is let them walk the stage. If masks are worn all should be fine. If families don't feel comfortable they can watch a live feed. But let the kids walk the stage with honor and pride.

Nancy Goodchild (Clinton Twp, 2020-05-15)

#429

I'm signing because my niece deserves a real graduation ceremony like other years graduating classes. The year I graduated my highschool decided to forgo graduation gowns. We all crossed the stage and receive our diplomas in whatever we were wearing that evening. The years before and after us had graduation gowns. That occurred 33 years ago and the first time I still regret that. Please don't take this special memory from these young adults who have worked very hard to attain this goal.

Jacqueline Detailleur (Sarnia, 2020-05-15)

#434

THEIR PARENTS DESERVE TO SEE THEM WALK ACROSS THE STAGE ❤

Important event in kids lives. Social distancing is possible while still letting them have their special moment and memories.

Rick Woodall (Windaor, 2020-05-22)

#451

I feel a SD graduation could take place. Lots of parameters could be put in place to keep the graduates safe. Limit participants, have two or three ceremonies, by splitting the graduates up into sections & I would even volunteer to wipe down surfaces in between programs

Tracy Lampron (Tecumseh, 2020-05-22)

The students deserve a real graduation ceremony for the four years they've spent working hard (when it is safe to do so, of course). Everyone deserves the chance to walk across the stage and celebrate with their peers and teachers. It will be a memory they hold for the rest of their lives.

Emily Pinkowski (Toronto, 2020-05-22)

#468

The class of 2020 deserves a proper graduation and ceremony. It can even be when the COVID-19 finally blows over. We worked hard to get to where we are today and celebrate all of our accomplishments.

I'm signing this as a parent who has watched my child and many other children strive to achieve a education and watched how these last few months have taken an emotional toll on them. They deserve better to end this milestone. They deserve to stand proud in any way whether they are masked and spread 6 feet apart. Put them on a field with limited guests. Let them say I did it, I graduated. For those who are not comfortable doing this, that is ok. With many Universities now going virtual, many grade 12 students will not be going away, so will still be here in fall or end of summer. Please allow this to happen at some point. They had the last few months of high school taken away, prom taken away and deserve a happy ending to this unimaginable end of high school.

Renee Mcleod (Lasalle, 2020-05-22)

#479

Ian Clifford (Lasalle, 2020-05-23)

The students need to feel some form of ‘community’. Even if they are driving by their teachers along a sidewalk or watching from their cars ‘together’ on a large screen. Some sense of community needs to be felt.

I support this 100%. I'm motivated when working with administrators and staff to help create a positive school climate for the students. Students who experience a positive school climate feel supported and accepted by staff and peers and tend to develop a strong sense of belonging to their school community. Those feelings of belonging help to enhance the students' self-esteem and can contribute to improvements in their academics and overall mental health. I love the opportunity to connect students to services that allow them to access the supports they need to address the areas that are negatively impacting their lives. These could include mental health services, counselling, crisis support, etc... When students receive the supports they need and begin to make changes in their lives, it positively impacts on the entire school community.

Steven Bellaire (Windsor, 2020-06-07)

#576
