STOP WEELEY FIREWORKS! SAVE THE LIVESTOCK AND ANIMALS

Comments

#4406

I strongly belive that all fireworks should be through licensed event organisers and limited in noise/ explosive content to avoid distressing all animals.

Wilfred Hawkes (Bordon, 2020-10-22)

#4408

I agree it should not happen

Sam Britton (Colchester, 2020-10-22)

#4410

Fireworks should be banned cause to much misery to animals

Lesley Ashcroft (Liverpool, 2020-10-22)

#4411

I would like to support this petition as I have Julie Doorne's petition against huge firework displays. This display is too close to farms and stables and should be prevented.

Caroline Langdon (Reading, 2020-10-22)

#4413

I have animals and they are petrified of fireworks. They should all be banned in my opinion, hate the things

Katie Allaway (Workington, 2020-10-22)

#4417

i am totally against fireworks being used any where near poor animals that are petrified and dont have a voice. to me this is barbaric behaviour.

carole NORRIS (WALTHAM CROSS, 2020-10-22)

#4424

Fireworks frighten all animals. My dog sits and shakes when she hears them - and they have good hearing.
Fireworks are a waste of money!!

Natalie Newman (Winchester, 2020-10-22)

#4427

Fireworks are harmful to farm animals, pets, wildlife and people who value peace and quiet; and they are a waste of money.

Elaine Stewart (London, 2020-10-22)

#4429

Fireworks should be held on bonfire night only. and at organised parties. It would be nice for noisy fireworks to be banned.

Helen Beresford (Rotherham, 2020-10-22)

#4431

I care about the well being of all humans and animals who will be adversely affected by this if it is allowed to go ahead. We have enough to worry about without adding stress to anyone. Make them noiseless ones if you must so people can still see pretty lights but no loud bangs!

Sharon Gay (Rochester, 2020-10-22)

#4436

Living creatures should not be terrorised for selfish people. Make fireworks quiet if you must have them.

Janet Ackerley (HUNTINGDON, 2020-10-22)

#4437

Fireworks are very scary for all animals

Louise Ward (Holland on Sea, 2020-10-22)

#4438

i am signing as a concerned dog owner who supports any action to silence fireworks for the benefit of animals. there is no reason why silent displays should not be available instead of the steadily increasing volume that displays inflict upon us year after year

dave irving (leicester, 2020-10-22)

#4439

We have had dogs who are absolutely terrified of fireworks. If this display is going to use the really noisy fireworks it should be stopped.

Rosemary Smith (Buckhurst Hill, 2020-10-22)

#4441

Firework displays should be permitted in urban environments only well away from livestock who can abort if pregnant.

Jannina Henderson (Bath, 2020-10-22)

#4444

I feel firework displays should be in appropriate areas only and this is clearly not.

Maureen Setter (Frimley, 2020-10-22)

#4445

I care for animals and fireworks are extremely distressing for them.

Nan Stephenson (Chester le Street, 2020-10-22)

#4450

Fireworks are cruel to animals.

John Charles Barrett (Port Talbot, 2020-10-22)

#4451

Fireworks aren't fun for animals.

Lynda Jennings (Scarborough, 2020-10-22)

#4458

I believe this is completely the wrong location for such an event, and will cause not only distress but actual harm.

Melanie Smallman (Stoke-on-Trent, 2020-10-22)

#4459

I'm signing because I feel very strongly that fireworks should be limited to public displays run in safe sites, for charity. I totally agree with the reasons cited for not having this event. My friend was once trapped in a stable with a mare and foal when the idiot next door started setting off enormous fireworks right next to her boundary fence, without any notice or warning. She was lucky to get out without injury, as the mare totally freaked.

Lyn Hannant (Bury St. Edmunds, 2020-10-22)

#4464

I love all animals they are innocents people who engage in fireworks are selfish and ignorant

Chris Bourne (Neath, 2020-10-22)

#4466

I don't believe any fire works should be sold to any member of the public only organised events under strict safety controls, there must be a law to stop all shops, supermarkets etc., selling them, in this time we live in now, it looks like a licence to sell gunpowder to anyone.

Andrew Flaxman (Freshwater, 2020-10-22)

#4468

Because I want to protect the animals

Kim Fehmi (Hornchurch, 2020-10-22)

#4471

i care about animal welfare as we are responsible for there care and well being as they cannot speak out for themselves. i do like to see fireworks but they are very noisy now so could it be moved to another site.

Susan Campbell (birmingham, 2020-10-22)

#4474

Unnecessary praxis that makes more damage to wildlife and pets

sanja valecic (zagreb, 2020-10-22)

#4476

I know the misery that can be caused to animals and people by inconsiderate discharge of fireworks. Large events should be properly licensed, insured and regulated.

David Smith (Aldridge, 2020-10-22)

#4477

The fireworks will cause a huge amount of distress to the animals in the farms in the surrounding area. I have a dog who suffers from extreme distress every year at firework season, fireworks are extremely distressing for all animals.

debra seaward (london, 2020-10-22)

#4478

The long term wellbeing of animals far outweighs the short term 'fireworks' euphoria for humans.

Stuart Davies (Llandyfrydog,, 2020-10-22)

#4480

This event should be stopped as no consideration has been given to horses close by.

Helen Badham (Essex, 2020-10-22)

#4481

Its disgusting that this should be able to go ahead so close to so many small and large animals! It needs to be stopped otherwise there is going to be needless injuries and/or even death for those poor animals who will be absolutely petrified!

Zoe Joyce (Walton on the naze, 2020-10-22)

#4483

These poor animals are terrified. It’s time for silent fireworks

Janet Fox (Kilbirnie, 2020-10-22)

#4484

I have experience of sheltering Foxes during fireworks. They know to come to us when it gets too frightening.

David Hodgson (Huddersfield, 2020-10-22)

#4486

Having a firework display so near to farm animals is simply stupid.

Alec Dawe (Attleborough, 2020-10-22)

#4489

Fireworks are an unnecessary and very damaging nuisance. They can kill, injure or terrify animals and even some human beings. Why not just get rid of them altogether?

Claire Oswald (North Berwick, 2020-10-22)

#4494

I'm signing because I have dogs, and have always had dogs. These particular two are simply terrified of fireworks, high wind or thunder, so why does the government ban fireworks completely? Who needs them - no-one.

Beth Allsopp (WIMBORNE, 2020-10-22)

#4495

I think that fireworks should only be allowed at authorised public displays and that licensing should take into account proximity of animals both farm and domestic.

julian Sanger (Beccles, 2020-10-22)

#4496

Fireworks cause total misery for animals and should be banned.

Terry Callow (KINGS LANGLEY, 2020-10-22)

#4498

animals are terrified of fireworks

Peregrine Morley (Bury St. Edmunds, 2020-10-22)

#4502

I own a horse.

Audrey Maskill (Yarm, 2020-10-22)

#4505

I'm signing this petition because I believe November 5th has had its day. Fireworks terrorise pets and wildlife, they put harmful smoke and particles into, the atmosphere and cause mounds of litter. It they must be offered. Fireworks displays should be public events only.. fireworks terrorise pets and wildlife so the fewer and more controlled the better.

Christine Wardlow-Kaye (York, 2020-10-22)

#4506

LIVESTOCK thats all the reason needed to get this banned

francine braund (bideford, 2020-10-22)

#4509

I really worry about the effect of the fireworks on animals both domestic and farm. We used to have a miserable month or two when our dog was alive: once they started it was difficult to get her out of the house at any time as she feared the noise so much. Animals do not understand that what sounds like an attack is supposed to be for fun!

Jennefer Lee (Colchester, 2020-10-22)

#4511

I'm already sick and tired of hearing fireworks going off and its only 22nd October, they been going off nightly here for the past month, my animals are frightened to death with the bangs

Alison Philpott (Bristol, 2020-10-22)

#4512

My husband was burnt with a firework thrown at him when a child and also the distress caused to animals and some people is totally unnecessary. They seem to be louder every year and can be heard at anytime, not just the 5 November. Time to control them.

Margaret Davies (BEDFORD, 2020-10-22)

#4513

I think its cruel, selfish and just wrong to be letting fireworks off near animals full stop.

stuart polden (lancs, 2020-10-22)

#4515

1 night is sufficient for firework. Nov 5th is one night and all displays should be on that night and no other.
Large displays should be sited away from livestock & other animals.
Large gatherings are incredibly stupid in the current circumstances.

Debra Billington (Northwich, 2020-10-22)

#4516

Animals should not be made to suffer because of fireworks. I have 2 dogs who are absolutely terrified of fireworks and I think people who expose frightened animals to them are evil.

Debbie WINTER (Wakefield, 2020-10-22)

#4517

The only fireworks that should now be allowed should be silent . Protect the pets livestock and wildlife .

Jane Nettleton (Clacton, 2020-10-22)

#4518

I have relatives who live in this area. This event should not go ahead anyway if it's uninsured or unlicensed. It should NOT be held anywhere near livestock.

Lynn Smart (Boston, 2020-10-22)

#4519

Purely for the sake of the animals don’t let go go on

KErrie SOle (Clacton-On-Sea, 2020-10-22)

#4523

I'm am signing because I have seen first hand how animals were abused by yobs throwing fireworks at tethered horses, I saw a mare tethered with a very young foal that was loose. These yobs were riding motor bikes between mother and foal, and the started throwing fireworks at them, there were several other horses tethered there as well. They were all terrified, especially the mare and foal that could get back to its mother. I have also got 3 rescue cat's that hate them, and get realy stressed. Why in this day and age do we still celebrate a proposed bombing, should we have a day of fireworks to celebrate the Brighton bombing of 1984, that was against a government. A ban is long overdue.

Margaret Bardsley (Preston, 2020-10-22)

#4524

Firework displays shouldn't be situated in places where it is known they will disturb a great many animals. It causes unnecessary and avoidable suffering.

Helen Bryan (Aberystwyth, 2020-10-22)

#4525

Why are people so unimaginative that they can't enjoy any sort of celebration without resorting to fireworks?

Paul Campbell (BEXHILL-ON-SEA, 2020-10-22)

#4529

Seriously, there is no way this should be happening. Have a heart and leave these people and animals alone, no-one needs a firework display but if it has to happen make it somewhere more appropriate or, save the money and don't have fireworks!

Kate Hedley-Boxall (Godalming, 2020-10-22)

#4530

Fireworks cause so much distress to animals, old people and people with mental health issues. Many animals do themselves physical harm whilst they are in a terrified state

Paul Manby (Harrogate, 2020-10-22)

#4534

I care about the suffering of animals

Lily Mattes (London, 2020-10-22)

#4539

it is time to control the use of fireworks ... Only allow licensed displays with proper control and fire officers present

Carol Elliott (Towcester Northamptonshire, 2020-10-22)

#4540

Inappropriate location - also two days is totally unnecessary.

Anna McNeil (Thorpe le Soken, 2020-10-22)

#4542

I care about the safety and welfare of animals and have seen the devastating effects of fireworks first hand.

Dee Reid (Aviemore, 2020-10-22)

#4543

I’m signing in support of a local community threatened by an inappropriately located firework display. Fireworks seem to have become ever louder and the fear and panic engendered in animals can have more lasting effects than the half hour or so of a display, with miscarriage in pregnant livestock and the triggering of life threatening epileptic seizures in susceptible pets for example as well as profound disturbance to vulnerable people. I would also be concerned about the organisers ability to enforce social distancing of spectators in the dark at such an event.

Rosalind Caldecott (Winchelsea, 2020-10-22)

#4544

Yet again humans are putting themselves and their fun and their profit before the basic welfare of animals, and animals that can't escape from the cause of their trauma.

Sue Roebuck (London, 2020-10-22)

#4545

I have pets of my own that are terrified by fireworks and a few years ago my greenhouse was burned down by a stray firework and my property was only saved damage by the prompt actions of the local fire brigade

Robert Barlex (Benfleet, 2020-10-22)

#4548

I am signing because really worries about animal welfare. There is livestock living in fields surrounding the field the fireworks are being displayed and I am concerned for their safety as well as hay barns etc

Tracey Masters (Frinton-On-Sea, 2020-10-22)

#4551

Fireworks can be very dangerous to farm/ domestic and wild animals.

michael stubbings (Loughton, 2020-10-22)

#4564

It is wrong to hold this event so close to where there are animals that will be scared out of their wits. Wrong, wrong, wrong!!!

Elaine Jeffrey (Aberdeen, 2020-10-22)

#4565

Irresponsible around animals

Sue Harris (Halstead, 2020-10-22)

#4567

Although I do not live in the area, I totally sympathise with the sentiments in this petition. I too love fireworks and one can see that in these depressing times, people need something to attend and enjoy. But, are the organisers really so unthinking, indifferent to the well being of animals and vulnerable folk and lacking in imagination, that they cannot find a site away from farms, stables, livestock sites and built up areas residential areas? We all know that all animals can get extremely fearful and anxious at the ear splitting noise created by some fireworks. So why ignore this fact when choosing a site for fireworks displays? Then there's the debris from displays that end up all over the place. Horses and other farm animals have choked on brightly coloured plastic/paper fallout they've mistaken for food. Pets in homes may be calmed but cattle, horses etc subjected to continuous explosive noises have no protection. Plus elderly folk with their often elderly pets can be very disturbed by loud, continuous noise. So, organisers, please spare a thought for all the distress you may cause, think less of lining your pockets and re site these firework displays where no animals and vulnerable folk live. I'm sure in Essex you can find somewhere. And if people really want to attend these displays and have a fun time, I'm sure they will not mind driving to an out of town venue.

Susan Watson (Surrey, 2020-10-22)

#4568

During a Pandemic they shouldn’t be holding a Fireworks display anyway! But that said, it’s irresponsible to be holding one close by to any animals, they get very stressed & we should be protecting livestock!

Mandy Singh (Driffield, 2020-10-22)

#4570

I like fireworks, but it is too close to animals. A relocation of the fireworks to an appropriate site would be better.

Onno van Horn (Oostzaan, 2020-10-22)

#4571

I am fed up with fireworks going off st all times over the year.

Sue Villar (London, 2020-10-22)

#4572

I disagree about fireworks being let off, so need to where animals are,and dog kennel right close by.

kathleen smith (essex, 2020-10-22)

#4573

A firework display is madness in the midst of a pandemic.

Anne Collier (East Boldon, 2020-10-22)

#4575

Fireworks have no place in areas where there are animals and people who can be terrified. If you want them, have silent ones. Also, how will people socially distance in the dark!?

Jessamy Korotoga (Rochester, 2020-10-22)

#4576

This is a totally inappropriate site for a large fireworks display, close to livestock and pets.

Sarah Turner (Brandon, 2020-10-22)

#4579

I'm sick to death of people setting off fireworks for weeks before, during, and after bonfire night. They are unnecessary and frighten animals dreadfully.

Becky Marsden (Sheffield, 2020-10-22)

#4583

This must be stopped ! !

Derek Mason (Blandford Forum, 2020-10-22)

#4585

I have a dog who has been abused by fireworks in the past prior to us adopting her.

Paula Mcguinness (Newhaven, 2020-10-22)

#4587

I have a dog that is terrified abs don’t understand why they can’t be made quiet then that way everyone can enjoy them. There are also many people afraid of loud bangs and I don’t feel that they should be made to feel scared just because of peoples selfishness.

Donna Wallace (Harlow, 2020-10-22)

#4590

It's about time people stopped being selfish and thought about pets and wildlife instead of themselves and the unnecessary stress they are causing by having such events

Debbie Patterson (COLCHESTER, 2020-10-22)

#4591

I have 5 dogs one is very frightened of loud noises and the constant sound of fireworks has him shaking uncontrollably and he won’t go into the garden to toilet

Ken Shadbolt (Chelmsford, 2020-10-22)

#4595

My 2 dogs shake really bad they hid behind the toilet door or behind the sofa even in my cupboard. The sale of fireworks are now on sale and people are buying them and letting the fireworks off its only October 22th 2020. Why is it aloud for shops super markets to sale fireworks so early. Teens are getting hold of the fireworks throwing in to people front gardens or thrown at animals and wildlife. It's got totally out of hand with the saling of fireworks and how early the fireworks are out for sale.

Jules Turner (Walton on Thames, 2020-10-22)

#4596

All but silent fireworks should be banned. They cause untold misery for animals (my main concern) and people and often for numerous nights before and after 5th November.

sandra cox (wilmslow, 2020-10-22)

#4600

I have a dog who is not bothered by fireworks, but many animals, domestic and wild are. Such displays show callous indifference to there welfare. By, the way, I love fireworks, but animal welfare is far more important.
