I think it is unfair for people working that late!

This is unreasonable. Many of the people live in crime ridden areas. Furthermore, where public transport is available, people still have to walk a distance from where they are dropped off to their homes. Mostly, between walking out of the store to where they get off, it takes about an hour. So they get off at the stop about 21:00 then they have to walk home through gang infested, crime ridden areas. Note well, most of these employees are women. As per Section 17 (1) and (2)(b) of act 75/1997 the employee may only be required to perform nightshift if transport is available between employee's place of work and place of residence. Please note it says "place of residence " and not a busstop or drop-off point. See case "TFD Network Africa (Pty) Ltd v Singh NO and Others ( C 571/11) [2015] ZALCCT 40"

Extended hours of Tygervalley Mall is a huge inconvenience to retail staff members...the main concern is traveling...what about mother's who still needs to take care of their children at such extended hours... Tygervalley Mall management is heartless if they implement this extended hours.........

Not evry body making use of Golden Arrow...and have to travel to Bellville toe get home with taxi..and bellvile taxis does not know about the centre trading hours adjustment....Some stores only provide transport allowance but does not provide transport. And transporters want to deal with stores it self for the service and not only the staff. And most staff is staying in High risk areas..and Golden Arrow drop them at a bus stop and then they put thejr life online to walk home

I know for certain most workers would not have transportation to get home, their safety and mental health is as imperative as those who work in corporate.

Mojalefa Dumaze (Johannesburg, 2024-09-28)

#299

Traveling after 8 will be extremely dangerous and the trading hours will not work , once 6 once past 5 hits the stores because quite and after 6 there is no one in the mall because it is dark outside and unethical especially on weekends and through the course of the week

Jaden Nickall (Paarl / Bellville, 2024-09-29)

#301

Work life balance is of grave importance and extended hours cuts into that along with the extended hours could result in the endangerment of those using public transport.

Adiel Schritten (cape town, 2024-09-29)

#302

Extended hours will cut into an already short personal life without worthy compensation and possible issues with transport. Working mall hours are already to much to maintain a stable balance and causes extreme mental and physical fatigue.

Hendre Casrtens (Bellville, 2024-09-29)

#305

I walk home to Bellville at night and extending the mall hours will only make it more dangerous for me as Bellville is not the safest the area in the day, let alone at night. The mall does not have many attractions to make it a night mall as people don’t come to enjoy the night life, they come to do their shopping and go out to eat and that’s about it. The mall peaks around 15:00 and dies out around 17:00, extending the hours will be unnecessary and will just attract the wrong crowd as the mall will be quite and make it easy to target specific stores.

Jaden Blom (Cape Town, 2024-09-30)

#312

Malls should close by 5 people have families, as customers it is famy tone

Dawn Groenemeyer (Cape Town, 2024-10-10)

#335

Extended business hours are inhuman and is just another form of enslavement. Consider that employees have other responsibilities. Consider that employees may have to work longer hours but still receive the same wages or salaries. Stop being reptilian, greedy and cruel driven by fear and profit or go back to Orion.

Dirk Jordaan (Cape Town, 2024-10-13)

#336

I have siblings working at the mall. We have safety and transport concerns with the new operating hours.

Nurahn Samaai (Cape Town, 2024-10-13)

#337
