I was a member of the Rugeley miniature railway when I lived in the Midlands it was a wonderful railway site and track untold hours of dedicated people built and maintain this track, it needs to be preserved for future steam locomotive enthusiasts

It is an important part of Rugeley history.

This railway needs to be keeper running, there are few and far between railways like this.
They give please to all adults and children who see them operating and have rides behind the locos.
Children and some adults are fascinated by steam locos, even of 5 inch gauge etc, they cannot belive how many people they pull and all through coal and water producing steam.

Russell Wilson (DERBY, 2023-03-01)

#234

I'm signing because there's not many joys left for the children not are there many older locomotives left either so we need to keep what we have got.

This Railway needs to be kept going. My Father was a Train Driver, and drove the first fast ( of its time ) train from Stoke to London. He was also Fireman for the then Princess, Elizabeth ( Future Queen ) and Princess Margaret Private Train. I love Steam Trains.

Brenda Ryan (Rugeley, 2023-03-01)

#258

I’m signing this petition as I feel strongly that this amenity should be maintained not only for the members and their interests in model railways, but also this must help & support many people’s mental health in getting outside, and the social aspect of meeting and interacting with people. I understand that this facility will also be in an area that will be open to the public within the new development. So these benefits will also impact a much wider audience within the local community and something that not only the club members can take pride in. Clubs & Facilities like these should be encouraged especially at a time when people are being encouraged to get up and out and about, and look after themselves and their mental health. The loss of this club would be a very, very sad day for the wider community of all ages.

Nancy Archer (Rugeley, 2023-03-01)

#286

Have been associated with Rugeley Miniature Railway since its inception

Bryan Wilson (Lichfield, 2023-03-01)

Changing the present track would completely destroy the character of the track and spoil the enjoyment I get from driving my loco on it.

Colin Mansell (Crewe, 2023-03-01)

#306

Miniature railways are good for the community, encourages social interaction, promotes skill cascading between peers and future generations, has positive dexterous hands-on skills for all age groups, reduces old age isolation, produces good calming influences, and has positive mental health benefits. When it comes to selling new houses it counts towards that well-being factor that new buyers are looking for when deciding to buy in a new neighbourhood.

Neil Ritchie (Sheffield, 2023-03-01)

#307

miniature railways always attract parties of all ages, and become a focal point for generations to enjoy.

Stuart Hamilton (Cleveleys, 2023-03-01)

It wants protecting from greedy developers who don't care what they leave behind.

John Billard (Twyford, 2023-03-01)

#311

I am signing because Rugeley is a long established society providing a valued service to it's members and the community at large.

Adrian Pegg (Willington, 2023-03-01)

#313

Such societies are beneficial to the physical and mental wellbeing of the individuals, this should be taken into account when attempting to deprive them of their amenity and labours of love.

Andy York (Rugeley, 2023-03-01)

#315

A hidden treasure that should be enjoyed by the wider community now that the power station has gone and Rugeley is already lacking in amenities

Samantha Johnson (Stafford, 2023-03-01)

#318

Heritage like this needs protecting and preserving, also clubs like these encourage youngsters to get into engineering.

Robert Measday (Neath, 2023-03-01)

#319

I’m a member of a similar society in South Wales and so I’m only too aware of the enjoyment miniature railways bring, together with developing engineering skills.

Mark James (Swansea, 2023-03-01)

#320

On a world scale, the railway is but a small thing: surely there is room for such a joyful item, giving pleasure to adults and children alike. Come on developers, you can't be THAT consumed by the desire for more money. Can you?

Susie Parks (Rugeley, 2023-03-01)

#321

Please keep the railway it is local heritage and for all the family.

Jo Smith (Rugeley, 2023-03-01)

#323

In July 2022 along with several members of the Coventry Model Engineering Society I visited the Rugeley Miniature Railway. We ran our 5" gauge locomotives and realised what a splendid track it is! It would be such a shame to lose such a wonderful facility which I know from our own track gives not only great pleasure to our members but

Having visited the Rugeley Miniature Railway in July 2022 together with fellow members of the Coventry Model Engineering Society I am so disappointed that the site is under threat. It is a lovely site, and a credit to the members and it would be a valuable asset to the community if the whole site was retained in it's current form as part of the proposed developement.

Tony Leech (Rugby, 2023-03-01)

#326

I believe the community of the future would benefit from having access to such a wonderful historic railway, fully in keeping with any leisure development of the future.

Mick Hegney (Rugeley, 2023-03-01)

#327

I used to use the railway as a child and wish to retain Rugeley's history and attractions

Bernadette Wason (Rugeley, 2023-03-01)

#329

I remember going on it as a child.... Rugeley history... Money carnt buy

Louise Matthews (Rugeley, 2023-03-01)

#332

I support pursuits that enable people and children, especially, to get out of their houses away from TVs Computers Phones Games to have physical experiences enjoy and learn from them. Miniature railways are socially interactive, teach health and safety, educate mechanical engineering, grow personalities of all ages and bring generations together in a safe, fun, interesting and maybe inspiring way. The loss of such a free asset in terms of infrastructure, staff who freely give their knowlege and time for the enjoyment of others in this world of greed and avarice would be acknowledgement of a society's ignorance and disinterest in its own people and purpose.

#334

I think this would be massively unfair to rugely model engineering society to lose so or all of there site. People need hobbies and interests for mental health reasons. If we’re not careful we’ll have a country full of empty houses and nowhere to go to do anything!!

Matthew Hyde (Rugby, 2023-03-01)

#335

This is an important feature of rugeley and should be saved.

Mandy Mahoney (Rugeley, 2023-03-01)

Carol Robertson (Rugeley, 2023-03-01)

#342

I didn’t even know about the railway! Now I do, it should definitely kept - what a treasure!

Lisa Canton (Rugeley, 2023-03-01)

#348

I think is important to save a valuable part of Rugeley’s heritage. Things like this bring joy and happiness to generations and are destroyed in the name of profit.

Peter Pratt (Rugeley, 2023-03-01)

#349

I’ve experienced the railway and know members, it’s a lovely resource that could be made more of. For different generations and families to enjoy together.

Laura Wilkes (Rugeley, 2023-03-01)

#350

I value the miniature railway and it’s contribution to the community. I have enjoyed several days out at the railway with my family and would like to see it protected and, if possible, opened up for wider use.

Craig Wilkes (Rugeley, 2023-03-01)

#356

I am a member of the Riverside Miniature Railway and it is important we keep these railways going.

Michael Pegg (Derby, 2023-03-01)

#357

I’ve been to this Railway, and really enjoyed the experience.
The irony,is in the 1970’s,I worked as a Long Distance Lorry Driver, and used to Deliver Electric Cable from Pirelli General when they were building the Power Station!

Alan Smith (Loughborough, 2023-03-01)

#359

It's important that leisure facilities are retained - and not replaced with yet more houses with nowhere for families to spend leisure time.

Cat Kerr (Rugeley, 2023-03-01)

#361

As a fellow model engineer, I am concerned that we are slowly losing our tracks. Our hobby, the engineering skills it promotes and the value to the whole community needs to be encouraged and developed, not compromised for the short term gains of a limited few.

Jamie Wilde (Swadlincote, 2023-03-01)

#363

I want to make my small, contribution to saving this railway.

David Dean (Leicester, 2023-03-01)

#364

The railway is such a great treasure. Being a former member of the power station, myself and lots of the football kids (& moms) have been on it many many times, and the steam enthusiasts who ran it were always a pleasure to chat to. It wouldn't be the same if it was shortened or altered in any way! I'm sure the new house development plans can be altered instead to accommodate the little track as it stands.

Lisa Jerome (Rugeley, 2023-03-01)

#365

The model engineers have been a huge part of my childhood, my dad was a member for many years, it would be so sad to lose it

Caroline Kelly (Llanelli, 2023-03-01)

#366

This has always been part of Rugeley as long as I could remember so it would be a shame to see it go as everyone puts so much hard work into it

Jayne Heath (Staffordshire, 2023-03-01)

#368

To ensure Rugeley retain their track and history.

Mike Robinson (Coventry, 2023-03-01)

#369

I'm signing this petition because model engineering skills in this country are solely maintained by societies such as the Rugely MES. The members are highly skilled engineers who need a Club to interact with fellow enthusiasts and a miniature railway to run the fruits of their labours on.
Destroying the railway with this development will kill the Club. Whilst there is a need for new housing, one or two less new houses by protecting the land the railway stands would be a small price to pay for the benefits the railway confers on the local Rugeley Community.

Douglas McLay (SWADLINCOTE, 2023-03-01)

#371

Want to support this great miniature railway group and track, be a shame to lose it

Clair Harris (Rugeley, 2023-03-01)

#372

I’d like to visit with family, this town needs some joy.

Rachael Baxter (Rugeley, 2023-03-01)

#373

I'd like to see such a valuable tourist attraction survive

John Liddle (Market Harborough, 2023-03-01)

#375

I believe this railway should be retained in its current for to be such a massive benefit to the development. As an engine owner this railway is one of the best in the North of England and needs to stay that way

Richard Doyle (Manchester, 2023-03-01)

#377

I know my little boy would have years of fun along with a whole host of other generations to come after him

#378

We don't want to loose everything in rugeley that's been going on for such a long time

Mary Whitehouse (Rugeley, 2023-03-01)

#379

I'm signing because model railways educate people to be practical and not snowflakes, woke or any other stupid American invention. I am an employer and I would take on any youngster who has been involved with such a practical past time over someone who has never ventured out of virtual reality. I'm signing up because the folk who are involved in the railway put their heart and sole into it and have actually physically and mentally paid for the railway..its not virtual its real!!!! Do not take that away from them or the hundreds of brain washed children that need to know there is a real world out there to enjoy, respect and hopefully gain inspiration, pride and satisfaction in it.

I’m signing because I’ve got fond memories of the rugeley miniature railway from when I visited as a child, a member of the group, my neighbour let us have the opportunity and after finding out it’s still open, one day I’d love to have that opportunity again and future generations should too.
