I’m signing because I have family members that travel 3 times per week to St Anthony from the straits area. On top of the long travel time, winter driving conditions in the area is extremely dangerous for patients and for the people who need to transport them there.Robby White (Sandy cove, 2022-01-18)

I’m signing this because I believe we need this equipment in our area and it is not fair for those in need of it to travel 1 to 2 hours just to receive the medical care they need when we have a medical facility 15 minutes away and should be providing this serviceHeidi Tucker (Forresters Point, 2022-01-18)

I’m signing because this community has been drastically underserved and now the end result is the abhorrent lack of care for the entire area and the health and general welfare which ALL people are entitled to in Canada.Michelle Rogers (Nepean, 2022-01-18)

The area needs a dialysis unit for the patients need who avail of this treatment. It’s unacceptable for patients to have to travel ( especially in the winter time ) to St.Anthony when they by pass a Health Care Centre in Flowers Cove , an ideal location for the unit!Janna Poole (Flowers Cove, 2022-01-19)

I’m signing this petition because it is vital for present and future demographics. St Anthony is too far away for any health services that CAN be provided closer to the Straits area.Stedman Hughes (Shoal Cove East, 2022-01-19)

People should not have to drive an hour and a half (and that’s on a sunny summer day) to get life saving treatment. In winter there are snow storms almost daily for months on end and also driving during dark hours especially in fall and winter when it gets dark really early at around four p.m. and on top of all that there are hundreds of animals such as caribou and moose on the roads and when it’s dark especially they cannot be seen until it’s too late. People should not have to risk their lives in these treacherous conditions while trying to get the life saving support they need in order to survive.
Government officials were elected to serve the people and that’s exactly what they need to do asap before someone loses a life on these roads while they’re trying to save their lives by getting to their treatments.

I believe it should be one in their area.Patients have to travel 1 1/2 hrs to get their treatment & with our winter conditions here it takes them much longer, I don’t feel like it’s safe & our people on the Northern Peninsula deserve betterLelvie Parrill (st Anthony, 2022-01-20)

As a current RN who has previously worked with Renal patients. I first handedly witnessed the exhaustion of patients that needed to travel 1-2 hours from a rural area to access a vital health care need. Having a Dialysis Unit in flowers would help provide more accessibility to this essential service.Hayley Macey (Stratford, 2022-01-27)

There definitely should be a dialysis unit in Flowers Cove so people wouldn’t have to put their lives on the line to drive to St. Anthony for this. This facility can accommodate it so there definitely should be one there.Darlene Genneaux (Hawkes Bay, 2022-02-19)
