Mangere Bridge Carpark entrance closure.

Closing the main entrance to the car park in Mangere Bridge Village will be harmful to businesses, pedestrians and traffic flow. It’s a ridiculous idea .

Jody Hindt (Auckland, 2020-06-10)

#202

Its just stupid having that back entrance as a gateway to the shops when delivery trucks use it and the sports teams uses it and all the shoppers use it too. Its never been a problem, until the AT want to change something thats not broken. Love to know the reasoning behind this move.

Rangituia Peters (Auckland, 2020-06-10)

#203

I agree that more consultation is required as I don’t see how the entrance will work or even be wide enough

Carolyn Stein (Mangere, 2020-06-10)

#204

I believe this is a risk to community and am not happy community has not been considered.

Rachel Viliamu (Auckland, mangere bridge., 2020-06-10)

#206

Because auckland transport need to realise their plans for Mangere bridge is not right!!

Nakita Nuku (Auckland, 2020-06-10)

#207

I am signing this because I am a regular user of this shopping precinct and I can see that a lack of consultation and a lack of local knowledge has lead AT to very bad design. Stop it.

L C Rive (Auckland, 2020-06-10)

#209

Because the plan does not take into consideration the Library access and the fact it's a service lane not an Official road. 2 delivery trucks down there which is very often blocks the lane. This part of the plan is terrible

Vanessa Campbell (Auckland, 2020-06-10)

#210

This will reduce business in the village and make the traffic way way worse

Ellice Adler (Mangere Bridge, 2020-06-10)

#211

I’m signing because I believe it’s a danger to lives if we restrict the vehicle access around the supermarket and village.

Victoria Bryce (Auckland, 2020-06-10)

#212

If it isn't broken it doesn't need fixing.
It is such an unnecessary proposition.

Doug Whitcombe (Mangere Bridge, 2020-06-10)

#217

Don’t agree with the intended changes

Todd Williams (Auckland, 2020-06-10)

#218

I’m signing because this is a very impractical plan that has been decided without consideration of local knowledge.

Kerry Mills (Auckland, 2020-06-10)

#219

I believe that this is not only unnecessary but also dangerous. The car park functions perfect well as it is and it's a huge inconvenient let alone a waste of money. I believe this will also cause more accidents

Michelle Griffith (Auckland, 2020-06-10)

#222

I am signing this petition because as a local and frequent shopper at Mangere Bridge Township Village; I beleive that the new plans for closure of the main entrance to the Main Village Shops Carpark will cause more harm than good. This entrance is used in high frequency by our Mangere Bridge Community as well as our extended Auckland Community and visitors.

As a village we have limited parking and areas that allow for delivery of produce and stock items.

Not only is the MAIN ENTRANCE to the MAIN CARPARK both convinent and highly in use, 7 days a week.
It also allows for SAFE use for our Mangere Bridge Locals and also our GREATER COMMUNITY. Especially our Elderly and Community Whànau with Disabilities.

Please think carefully about our COMMUNITY and Visitors and STOP THE PLANNED CHANGES TO CLOSE our MAIN ENTRANCE to the MANGERE BRIDGE. It will have a huge impact on safety and backed up traffic coming into our main shopping centre.

Regards a Concerned Local

#223

I don’t agree that the closure of the main entrance to the Mangere bridge shops car park has been well considered.

Janita Fuller (Auckland, 2020-06-10)

#224

It’s hard enough to cross the footpath already at this entrance due to the large number of trucks and vehicles, it’s not even wide enough for two cars to drive next to each other. The chaos and traffic trying to use one tiny entrance way is just plain dangerous for pedestrians and drivers!

Allison Davies (Auckland, 2020-06-10)

#225

This is yet another example of Auckland Council and Auckland Transport running roughshod over what the residents of a small part of this bloated supposed ‘super city’ actually want. Not only is it an absolute waste of money, but it serves no conceivable purpose. Clearly the people of Mangere Bridge don’t want these modifications done to the parking along Coronation Road which is working perfectly fine as it is. They need to LISTEN!!!!

Vincent Mills (Auckland, 2020-06-10)

#226

The service road is very narrow and when trucks come out of it to the McIntyre St end/exit, it is too narrow for cars to enter the carpark. The traffic cannot flow past each other. This will just add to congestion, which makes it more dangerous for pedestrians as often cars get half way into that entrance then have to reverse out to let trucks out.

Rebekah corston (Auckland, 2020-06-10)

#228

I agree

Gigi Milea (Auckland, 2020-06-10)

#230

There has been no consideration for the people of Mangere Bridge who cannot walk and carry groceries, that have to use this carpark to the shops, to park safely because of your decision to close the carparks exit entrance. This carpark is very busy and having traffic trying to turn in all directions will only cause accidents and ensure people will get hit. This is the main carpark to get groceries, there are no other close alternatives. Poorly thought through decision. Please donot close the exit/entrance.

Carrie Ashworth (Mangere Bridge, 2020-06-10)

#231

I am signing because I live in Mangere Bridge and this is completely unnecessary as they have also built a new bump. Build a new bump kay to close of the carpark! Ridiculous , sort this crap up , stop wasting tax payers money and make it more useful idiots

Malia Refiti (Auckland, 2020-06-10)

#232

I’m signing because I do not agree with the proposed changes as this would be a huge mess, with traffic trying to get in and out of our shopping area.

Lisa Walker (Mangere Bridge, 2020-06-10)

#233

I absolutely disagree with the proposed closing of the entrance!! This will be the cause of accidents and there can’t just be one entrance. We have soccer training so many nights a week, the trucks can’t get around the corners! How does this make any sense? It worked before.. leave it alone!!!

Bronwen Strugnell (Auckland, 2020-06-10)

#235

I want to stop work on the carpark

Support to stop roadworks closing the car park entrance at Fresh Choice Mangere Bridge

Jeanette Price (Auckland, 2020-06-10)

#248

This proposal is dangerous and Auckland Transport has looked at this issue through blinkered vision. Mangere Bridge Village is Business Improvement District (BID) under Auckland Council's BID Policy. This change not only will put members of the public at risk but it will also be detrimental to the Economic Develoment of the Village

Carol-Anne Armitage (Auckland, 2020-06-10)

#249

I’m signing as a resident in Mangere Bridge who has lived here my whole life and strong believe that this car park should not be closed

Genesis Suaalii (Auckland, 2020-06-10)

I'm signing because..i work at Mangere bridge and the road worker are slowing things down in our town

Uhaone Lolo (Auckland, 2020-06-10)

#251

It makes absolutely no sense to close that entrance so that we only have a small entrance we’re sharing with delivery vehicles. What a waste of time and money!!!!

Kirsty Drummond (Auckland, 2020-06-10)

#252

Mangere Bridge shops carpark has not been well considered nor widely consulted on and will be detrimental to local small businesses and traffic movement including delivery vehicles in the area and place pedestrians in increased conflict with traffic from the new smaller proposed entrance.

Karen Maheno (auckland, 2020-06-10)

#253

The closure of this entrance to fresh choice in mangere bridge is absolutely ridiculous

Matt Kernick (Auckland, 2020-06-10)

#256

I am signing because blocking off the main one way entrance and using a two way side street next to a park just doesn’t make sense. The current entrance is straight and wide and safe, the proposed entrance using a two way street involves 2 tight 90 degree turns - how does that improve traffic flow and pedistrian safety next to a park!!!!! It doesn’t!!!!!!

Jo Simpson (Mangere Bridge, 2020-06-10)

#257

This will cause mayhem to the traffic flow and parking in OUR shopping area

Leslie Holmes (Auckland, 2020-06-10)

#259

I'm signing because I live in Mangere Bridge and use this supermarket, and believe closing the entrance will creating safety issues and risk with increased and two way traffic using the other entrance.

I believe AT proposal is not workable and community should have more input.

Kathleen Randle (Manukau, 2020-06-10)

#267

ATs plan for our local car park is a complete disaster and will be unsafe for our comminity

Jackie Knight (Auckland, 2020-06-10)

#268

I am signing this because I am a Mangere Bridge home owner & carparking is already scarce & closing this drive way would cause big problems

Lesley Maipi (Manukau, 2020-06-10)

#269

I am signing this as a home owner in MB and this whole plan seems ridiculous and not much community input or opinions have been heard. The car park space in our village is already running at a premium and if we want to support local as our PM mentions all the time we will need to navigate our way to the village without any issues.

Willie Maipi (Manukau, 2020-06-10)

#271

I think the existing main entrance we now use is wide and functions well. A closure will cause a great number of problems most importantly traffic congestion and furthermore pedestrians put at risk.

Jacinta Kerrigan (Mangere Bridge, 2020-06-10)

#272

I disagree with the closing of the main entrance into our township.
Whoever had this bright idea has no idea what so ever on the impact this us going to cause our little township. Auckland Transport you have stuffed up this time.

Audrey Tasi (Auckland, 2020-06-10)

The risk of the closure can cause an increase of near miss acidents and could actually be harmful to people of all ages.

#282

Lack of commonsense and consultation.

Jon Baulcomb (Auckland, 2020-06-10)

#283

This is dangerous, it is already congested and it does not make sense.
You have already taken away the right turn from the car park which is going to cause major congestion and this will top it off.
Clearly not a researched decision.

Monique Rowe (Auckland, 2020-06-10)

#284

I truly believe this will make the village more dangerous not safer

Shane Howarth (Auckland, 2020-06-10)

#286

The carpark should not be closed and the design of this is terrible. Do not waste money on this.

Hoki Edmonds (Auckland, 2020-06-10)

#290

The car park needs 2 driveways and the main one is essential for safety.

Kate Small (Mangere Bridge, 2020-06-11)

#291

Closing the main entrance to the car park will not be benficial to the traffic flow in Mangere Bridge. Making all traffic use the small entrance at the side will increase traffic jams in the area and will see an increase in accidents.

Ally Fearns (Auckland, 2020-06-11)

#292

Despite 18mths of trying to get Auckland Transport to see the chaos they are about to create they won't see it.

Pauline Anderson (Auckland, 2020-06-11)

#293

I'm signing because I strongly disagree on the decision with AT for their point or reasoning to close the main entrance to the main carpark. This will cause many difficulties for having just a single/small entrance (which connects to a two sided carpark) for many transports including cars, delivery trucks, emergency services and more. There is a massive safety issue for all locals and shoppers. My list could go on but with the support of many locals in our Mangere Bridge community, we unite together as a team to protest on what's right and what has worked for many years!

Laurelle Rogers (Auckland, 2020-06-11)

#294

I believe the closure of the entrants to the shops will cause chaos, danger, hazards, in avoidable time consuming vehicle congestion, and people will find it an inconvenience then may prefer to shop elsewhere the local business may suffer.

It’s so dangerous to expect that supermarket trucks, customer vehicles, cyclists can use one single drive-way, that drive-way next to the park in particular is so hard to access and turn into, out of, and around into the shopping area Carpark, I couldn’t imagine what it would be like if that was the only access into the carpark, horrible, just insane.

Katherine Williams (Auckland, 2020-06-11)

#297

I think the proposed changes are ridiculous and don’t see the point of them. What a waste of time and money. Why change something that works fine.

Kelli Matthews (Auckland, 2020-06-11)

#298

It's complete craziness to close off the Mayor entrance to Fresh Choice and the other businesses!

Lisa Atkinson (Auckland, 2020-06-11)

#299

My wife and I are daily shoppers and cafe users. It is now almost impossible to park closer to the shops than McIntyre ed. The cafe owners are trying to recover from lockdown but a sea of ridiculous orange cones are driving their customers away

Brian Pilkington (Auckland, 2020-06-11)

#300

It would mean I would not shop in the village any more as the big trucks block that lane and you can never get in. It would be too dangerous. I have lived in the area for over sixty years and I certainly hope you are not going to ruin the Bridge like you did for the other Mangere streets. Obviously the people looking at their computer screens have never gone out at the busy time and tried to use them. To top it off they even gave themselves an award. Actually speak to the people who use it every day and actually listen to them you may have a better understanding.

Pat Dobbie (Auckland, 2020-06-11)

#301

I don’t agree the AT decision to modify the carpark entrances and exits for our village carpark

philippe Guilleminot (Mangere Bridge, 2020-06-11)

#302

I do not think for 1 second that closing the main entrance to the busy car park will be in any way beneficial. It will lead to more congestion, accidents and frustration.

Karin Ward (Auckland, 2020-06-11)

#304

We need road access to shops for the whole community, especially our elderly and people with disabilities.

Jackie Kirk (Auckland, 2020-06-11)

#305

Closing the entrance will cause traffic nightmares.

Divarna Retemeyer (Auckland, 2020-06-11)

#306

What AT want to do is completely wrong for our community. What we have now for the carpark entrance should stay the same. If it a'nt broke dont try to fix it.

Diane Elliott-Forster (Mangere Bridge, 2020-06-11)

#307

I believe the changes will not make it any safer.

Cheryl Gabriel (Auckland, 2020-06-11)

#308

I live in Mangere Bridge and know closing the main entrance to the Mangere Bridge shops will have a detrimental effect on the community.

Arnna Messent (Auckland, 2020-06-11)

#309

I agree that is crazy, not to mention dangerous to shut the main car park entrance of the Mangere Bridge car park

Victoria White (Auckland, 2020-06-11)

#310

This is a poorly thought out plan that doesnt address any actual issue Mangere Bridge Village has in my opinion.
Trying to go to Fresh Choice over the last few days has been even more chaotic due to the works going on, and removing the carpark entrance will only bottleneck the area even further.
In all likelihood, restricted access will most probably mean that it is easier to drive to the Airport shops for most people, which isnt at all fair for the owners of Fresh Choice.

Iain Stanmore (Mangere Bridge, 2020-06-11)

#312

Absolute stupidity! Anyone with half a brain knows this is a ridiculous plan.
Maybe those that came up with this brainwave should leave their offices and try manoeuvring a car through the new proposed carpark.
Will the increase in insurance and access claims be passed onto these brilliant planners?

Tania White (Auckland, 2020-06-11)

#314

I think forcing all traffic to exit to Coronstion Road will mean all increase the number of cars moving through the main area of the car park thus increassing congestion as cars try to park and later reverse into traffic.

James Perkins (Auckland, 2020-06-11)

#315

Removing the main entrance into the MBS shopping car park will seriously impede our ability access the shopping centre and is neither more convenient or safer.

The proposed route into the car park has two 90 degree turns, requires drivers to pass a much larger number of parked cars and navigate a significantly more pedestrians than the current car park entry.

At busy times the entrance to the car park would be accepting 20 cars per minute or approximately 1200 cars an hour. There is no way the proposed route can handle that volume of traffic given it is a single file entrance way with significantly more obstacles and narrower driving channel.

The residents that live in Mangere Bridge are happy with the current layout and do not want it changed. It is efficient and given its wide berth allows for people to adapt to congestion in adhoc ways.

Shaun Forgie (Auckland, 2020-06-11)

#317

I use the area regularly, and I see no logical reason to close the main carpark entrance. It is liable to cause considerable congestion at what is presently the secondary entrance.

Jacqui Smith (Mangere Bridge, 2020-06-11)

#318

It will be detrimental to local small businesses and traffic movement including delivery vehicles in the area and place pedestrians in increased conflict with traffic from the new smaller proposed entrance

Ben Allen (Auckland, 2020-06-11)

#319

Dont agree with this.

Stephanie Kenney (Auckland, 2020-06-11)

#320

The entrance needs to stay where it is

#321

How can businesses recover when the carpark is blocked off?

Ben Rastrick (Auckland, 2020-06-11)

#322

I think the proposed changes to the mangere bridge carpark are badly conceived. I am a local resident and work in the design of the built environment. I was not consulted about this.

Brent Sykes (Auckland, 2020-06-11)

#324

I am signing this because we already have an issue with car parking spaces in our very busy local shops were not need to loose what little we have. Also very stupid idea to leave a road that really holds only one vehicle at a time for an entry and exit point. Come on Auckland council work for the people of the area and what they need in the area especially when our rates and money are paying for something so stupid and unworkable

Elaine Cordes-Paki (Auckland, 2020-06-11)

#325

because I agree its a bad idea, stupid council wouldnt have a clue.

Nigel Trounson (Auckland, 2020-06-11)

#326

I do not believe AT has assessed the wider safety implications of using the smaller service entrance as the main entrance.

Rhiannon Boulton (Auckland, 2020-06-11)

#327

Closure of the existing entry and forcing the use of Swanson Lane will be an absolute disaster! That lane is usually obstructed by delivery vehicles and having to drive past angle parked vehicles on both left and right to get to main carpark is an accident waiting to happen! Especially if you're the person waiting to reverse out while everyone is forced to drive in from Swanson! Pedestrian crossings on roundabouts are more dangerous than vehicles waiting to get into carpark. When driving around the roundabouts, you are busy looking for traffic, indicating, changing gear, and a pedestrian is the last thing that you'd notice!!!!

Christine Dunning (Mangere Bridge, 2020-06-11)

I'm one of the many angry Mangere Bridge residents who do not see the need to block of the entrance to the supermarket and other businesses. I have live just up the road from there for 45 years when Coronation Rd was the main road from the airport. High volume of traffic unlike today. Never had any great problems all these years. That entrance has always been there. Stop trying to fix something that isn't broken.

I don’t want the main entrance to be closed. As the truck lane entrance would be chaotic.

What they are planning on doing is absolutely ridiculous. It will be a great inconvieneance to everybody and also a safety issue. AT are well known for not thinking things through. Leave our carpark alone and spend the money on something that actually needs doing.

I do Not want the Mangere Bridge car park closed off.
I am a resident of 26 years and would not be able to carry bags of shopping now. This is such a thoughtless idea.

I am apart of mangere bridge community and there is mothing wrong with what has worked for sooooo long. Why break whats broken?
Let the powers that be bugger off and ruin someone elses community/home.
