I'm signing because I strongly believe the club would not be what it is today without Mr. Murphy's efforts following the Munich disaster. He deserves recognition.

(Manchester, 2017-02-07)

Jimmy Murphy stood up and took the helm after the babes died and Sir Matt was seriously ill in a Munich hospital, without Jimmy this whole club could have perished along with the beautiful Busby babes.

Jimmy Murphy is as much a reason that there is still a Manchester United after Munich as Sir Matt is. He led United while Sir Matt recovered and lost so many that were dear to him. The Babes we're as much his boys as Sir Matts

During our darkest hour, Jimmy Murphy was our shining light. He guided the ship through the storm after Munich until Sir Matt returned. Most of the Busby Babes were players he found, nurtured and made into the stars that they became. He was an unsung hero for our club and had it not been for him, Manchester United would not have existed today. He refused to let the board shut down the club, when that was their best option instead from the ashes of Munich he ensured Manchester United would rise again. A statue in his honour would be the most fitting tribute to the man who hardly gets recognition for making the club who we are today. I feel the statue should be erected at Carrington training centre.

Murphy should be remembered for all he did for a long time. Future generations of fans will be more disconnected from the club's history even more so than some are today, given the emerging culture of instant gratification. Heritage is more important than recent results to many fans, and a statue of Murphy would be a permanent signpost, directing fans to a deeper understanding of what it means to be Manchester United.

(Manchester, 2017-03-28)

#367

I agree with you

(Manchester, 2017-04-24)
