Preserve NYC Employees' (Active & Retired) Healthcare

We are in these benefits and are entitled to them. What is City can give money to people on the street they should take care of their former employees.

John Loeber (Denver, 2022-03-14)

#2603

The City is definitely trying to take away crucial benefits we were promised. Many of us stayed with the "City jobs" because of the benefits once we retired. Since this was started by DeBlasio, I think he should be sued. In addition, not every title of service was represented at these meetings to GUT our entitlements.

Joan Schuk (Brooklyn, 2022-03-14)

#2604

I’m a retired city employee nearing Medicare age and don’t want New York City forgetting about its promises or taking the choice of what Medicare Option I choose out of my hands.

Christine Pilgrim (Forest Hills, 2022-03-14)

#2606

This is one reason I stayed with the City for so long . Health Care Benefits.

Angela Diano (Glen Cove, 2022-03-14)

#2607

I am signing because I am very much against the new medical plan the city is trying to enforce

Lila Korngold (Delray Beach, 2022-03-14)

#2611

I am signing because I feel I am entitled to what I was promised many years ago when I retired. Also my oncologist does not take MAP as well as many hospitals and doctors here in Florida.

Carol Perrin (Lake Worth, 2022-03-14)

#2615

. Saddling retirees with the sole responsibility for balancing the books pertaining to Health Insurance is unfair, if not cruel. If it's true that the City cannot afford to subsidize the GHI Senior Care Plan, it must spread the pain among all present employees and retirees.

Jorge Garcia (New York, 2022-03-14)

#2616

I'm opting out of the MAPP health plan

carolann elias (Bronx, 2022-03-14)

I want to keep my insurance without having to pay the astronomical monetary increase!!!

Carrie Libasci (Bayside, New York, 2022-03-14)

#2622

I oppose privatization of Social Security and Medicare. Medicare Advantage will prevent me from seeing my doctors in a timely manner, including emergencies and catastrophic illnesses.

Stuart Eber (NYC, 2022-03-14)

#2624

I chose to keep my current plan and cannot afford to pay the astronomical increase the city is trying to
Pass on to retirees!

I have been battling stage 3 anal cancer and now to find out it went to my Lung. Just had part of my long removed and must continue with treatment. This has been overwhelming for me with the changing healthcare. I’m too sick to always be on the site. I can’t believe the city’s doing this to us and I’m sad disillusioned with my union. I can’t afford to start finding new doctors because a lot of them do not take the MAP.

Laura Shain (Fresh Meadows, 2022-03-14)

#2630

Because there shouldn't be any reason to appeal this decision. We all signed a contract with the city which included the benefits in question. Any appeal would be breach of contract.

James DeGaetano (New Smyrna Beach, 2022-03-14)

#2633

I want traditional Medicare which I paid into my whole life.

Thomas Clarke (New York, 2022-03-14)

#2635

I care for senior Benefits

Abismael Rivera (Bronx Ny, 2022-03-14)

#2636

I wish to remain in my current plan without paying a penalty and I believe the proposed MAP is an inferior plan.

Joseph Gioe (New York, 2022-03-14)

#2638

We have negotiated in good faith for many contracts, less salary and benefits for guaranteed current healthcare.
Live up to your bargaining.

Wendy Kanter (New York, 2022-03-14)

#2646

I want NYC Mayor Adam's to not appeal the judges decision on our Healthcare. It's totally wrong to change our original health are plan. We have a contract agreement for this issue.

Andrew Lucchini (Lady Lake, Florida, 2022-03-14)

#2649

I don't want NYC to put me into the MAPP PLAN

Tara FitzGerald (Parker, 2022-03-14)

#2653

I worked for 30 years for sub-Par wages for someone with a BS & MS.I have cancer 2 times
according to the MAP Plan i can only have a colonoscopy every 2 year which will put my life in danger!!! ETC ETC!!!

Kenneth Tyson (LAKE WORTH, 2022-03-14)

#2655

I took my job as a professor at CUNY partly based on having good post-retirement health insurance. Shame on NYC, trying to take back this benefit that we “paid for” by foregoing salary increases. Do the moral thing, NYC!

Mary Helen Huff (New York, NY, 2022-03-14)

#2656

You were right as candidate Adams --this is bait and switch

Bill Friedheim (The Bronx, 2022-03-14)

#2658

You have called the Medicare Advantage Plan a "bait and switch". Indeed it is/was. We were promised one thing, and now that we are retired, and in need of the best medical care, we are offered something lesser. Do not appeal the judge's decision. Help us come to a better outcome by working together.

wendy beck (NYC/SF, 2022-03-14)

#2659

I am not interested in any Medicare Advantage Plan and can’t afford to pay $191 x2. Please stop causing us older retirees unneeded stress.

Mark Faikes (Irmo, SC, 2022-03-14)

#2660

When hired in 1983, I assumed a much lower salary than those in the private sector knowing that health benefits would be there for me and my family. Please do not take that away as I am now in my Golden Years…when my wife and I need it the most. I did my part….please do yours.

Terence Cashin (Lynbrook, 2022-03-14)

#2661

I don’t want an Advantage program.

Angelina Acevedo (Pembroke Pines, 2022-03-14)

#2663

It is unfair that we are being coerced into forfeiting our Medicare coverage for a lesser medical plan trumped up by the City of New York. We have served the City tirelessly and unselflessy for many years and now are at the age where good medical coverage is essential. Most if us retirees are not in a position to pay for additional coverage.

Jackie Campbell (Tamarac (formerly In Queens), 2022-03-14)

#2665

As a retired attorney, the Supreme Court ruling is correct on the facts and the law. As a retiree, it is unfair to force givebacks on retirees to leverage advantage for current employees.

Lawrence Roth (Furlong, PA, 2022-03-14)

#2666

I was a teacher and I wish the city would not appeal Judge Frank's decision and force a Map+ plan on city workers at the most vulnerable times of the nit lives.

Raymond Cohen (Merrick NU, 2022-03-14)

#2668

Stop privatizing healthcare. Why should some company make money off of my healthcare?

Terry Weber (New York, 2022-03-14)

#2670

I want to keep my present health coverage that I earned and was promised free of charge for life.
I feel that the City proposal to move Retirees into the NYC Medicare Advantage Program Plus is a inferior Managed Care program. We all know what Managed Care is about.

This is the time in my life that I need dependable health care coverage.

Additionally most of my doctors never heard about it and the couple who did are very skeptical of it.

Arlene J Collins (Long Island City, NY 11104, 2022-03-14)

We Do Not like to be placed under NYC MAPP.
Dear Mayor Eric Adams STOP
the Appeal.

I object to the changes MYC is attempting to
Make to my Retirement Health Benefits which were guaranteed to
Me upon retirement for life without change. For the 47 years i worked at The PHL we were constantly being asked to take frozen promotions for year sfter year,
Lower pay raises and in many cases no
Pay taises in return for these guaranteed retirement benefits. In one case we had to take pay checks delayed by one day each pay day until the city was able to use the i interest saved by doing this to pay their bills! It is absolutely unacceptable to all current retirees that the city attempt to change these benefits now!

Anne Marie Incalicchio (Westfield, 2022-03-14)

marilyn beck (hastings on hudson, 2022-03-14)

I retired 17 years ago with certain financial expectations and move between locations quite a bit visiting family. Having to pay to continue the health care that allows me this flexibility will limit my ability to live the retirement lifestyle I expected to keep doing.

I'm signing because I think that there has been enough litigation to make clear that this should not be resolved without further appeals.

Lin Saberski (New York, 2022-03-14)

#2708

The proposed imposition of this MAPP is a significant reduction in EARNED benefits that were promised to every retiree after a career in public service

Jay Warshofsky (BROOKLYN, 2022-03-14)

#2712

My union negotiated in good faith on my behalf to obtain the highest quality retiree health care benefits. The City's plan to alter this negotiated agreement is a betrayal of me and all City retirees, and I want Mayor Adams to allow the current court judgement to stand without appealing it.

Michael Stimola (New York City, 2022-03-14)

#2714

I want choice in my medical health care.

STEPHEN SPATARO (STATEN ISLAND, 2022-03-14)

#2720

I feel very stronger that it is a travesty to put the retirees in a new health coverage ! It is unfair to treat senior citizens in this manner and to charge us extra money to stay in the health plan we retired with!

#2747

Leave Senior Care alone!

Robert Sapienza (Campbell Hall, 2022-03-14)

#2750

I worked for the city at lower wages than I could have made in the private sector for the promise of superior benefits on retirement. I already saved the city money, and now they are diminishing my benefits, ostensibly to save more on my back! Medicare Advsntage is inferior.. any health care professional knows it and doesn't want it, and certainly doesn't want to be charged premiums to keep what we have and have already paid for!

Gene Iannuzzi (Pelham, 2022-03-14)

#2757

I am a NYC retiree who does not want her medical insurance to be privatized.

Cecelia McCall (New York, 2022-03-14)

#2758

I’m signing this petition because it’s not right for the City Of New York to place its retirees, that are on Medicare, into an inferior MAP Plan to help subsidize future raises for Active Employees!!! When we were hired we were guaranteed certain Healthcare Considerations for when we retired. This Medicare Advantage plan does not meet this criteria!! If you read the Evidence of Contract for this plan it becomes quite apparent that if you become ill, and need to use this plan, decisions will be made about what level of care you receive by bean counters who are NOT Doctors!! This is a FOR PROFIT plan. How do you think they’re going to turn a profit???? I’m disappointed that, as the Mayor of NYC, that you actually support this plan!!! When you were campaigning as Mayor, you publicly stated you were AGAINST this plan!! Now that your Mayor, you IN FAVOR of it?????

Unfortunately, your change about this plan speaks volumes.

Michael Doyle (Brooklyn, 2022-03-14)

I want you to insure that my wife and I get the best health insurance possible.

Bruce Berman (Amityville, 2022-03-14)

I was promised when hired to have insurance for life

Theresa Amass (Southmpton, 2022-03-14)

#2766

I've seen what these plans do to chip away at coverage for retirees in my own family. It's heartbreaking, and I staunchly oppose seeing this done to anyone else currently or in the future retired from a public agency in NYC.

Pieranna Pieroni (Brooklyn, 2022-03-14)

#2770

The health insurance of retirees and their families was guaranteed as part of their original employment contract. NYC is changing the rules in the 4th quarter and that’s unacceptable!

Judith Israel (Point Lookout, 2022-03-14)

#2777

Please protect our health plan. NYC RETIREES
deserve to be treated fairly.

Marcy Miller (NEW YORK, 2022-03-14)

I’m signing because I want to keep the benefits I currently have & cannot afford to pay an additional $194 a month. My current benefits were part of the contract when I came on the job. Please Mayor Adams, stop the cities appeal. Thank you!

Fred Archery (Henryville pa, 2022-03-14)

I was promised and guaranteed Medicare when I become of age after retirement or prior if collecting Social Security disability. I was not asked to vote on any changes there in and nobody has the authority to speak or vote for me.
