Barnsdale is such a beautiful place and needs to be preserved to maintain the legacy of its origin. It brings visitors to Rutland also.

Alison Moorhouse (Leicester, 2023-11-04)

This garden should be treated as any other national British treasure and preserved for all to see, learn from and admire

Barnsdale Gardens in part of the community. People also travel miles to visit. It is precious!

Deborah Basford (Nottingham, 2023-11-05)

the ugliness of the panels would spoil the beauty of the garden next door.

The peace and quiet of the countryside needs to be retained. Why not use a former factory site that is now derelict.

John Winter (Long Bennington, 2023-11-06)

It takes decades to establish a garden as a natural ecosystem for flora and fauna.
It is a shame to jeopardise that for the sake of commercial interests, especially when those interests should be aligned with conservation of the planet.

Matthew Pearce (Brentwood, 2023-11-06)

Barnstaple is a unique series of gardens designed by perhaps the greatest gardener and TV personality of the modern era. This must be preserved for future generations. The construction of a solar energy site right on its doorstep would destroy this unreplaceable garden treasure.

This shouldn't happen so close to Barnsdale Gardens it will spoil the whole concept of the gardens and the peacefulness that is such a part of Barnsdale

I'm signing because I believe we need places like Barnsdale

Terry Baxter (Derby, 2023-12-01)

It's so important to retain gardens as havens for nature, places to relax and educational spaces. And Barnsdale is a very special place that should be here for generations to come.

I´ve just bough the book Biozáhrada (The Organic Gardening, I believe) and searched to find more about the author. I didn´t know the Barnsdale Gardens before. It looks beautiful and inspiring, seeing it with my own eyes, listening to the birds and insects would be much more. I wish to be able to visit one day, I am appalled that it is threatened. Noise pollution is often dismissed, but it is very real and it would harm the gardens. Please find a more suitable place for a solar farm.

The gardens are a valuable resource for health & wellbeing

We need gardens like this, and it would be a crime to destroy it for something like you want to replace it with.

Susan Sharpe (Leicester, 2023-12-29)

I wish to preserve the uniqueness of Barnsdale Garden

Roger Beach (Sutton Coldfield, 2024-01-01)

I'm signing because I understand the proposed project threatens the existence of Barnsdale. Barnsdale is a national jewel- an instrinsic part of our cultural heritage- not only giving joy to millions of visitors each year but also acting as a huge and unique resource centre for education and inspiration in growing and planting.

I oppose the current solar farm proposal next to Barnsdale Gardens. This would ruin the the relaxing experience visitors enjoy when visiting the gardens. Preserving this valuable local amenity is of the greatest importance and so strongly oppose this proposed development.

Peter Tancred (Leicester, 2024-01-11)

Barnsdale is a magnificent area, to advise and help people, like us to have the confidence to change our gardens. Geoff Hamilton was an excellent gardener, who showed the public how to create a lot for a small amount of money. This should be kept open.

Pat Tarrant (Ashford, 2024-01-16)

I loved WATCHING GARDENERS WORLD
when Geoffery was building his garden so would love to see it.

I feel a solar farm could be built elsewhere, we need to preserve Barnsdale Gardens as an established valuable resource of nature and tranquility in the countryside

Barnsdale is a national treasure. As the base of former Gardeners World presenter Geoff Hamilton, it has provided inspiration to generations of gardeners.

Barsndale Gardens is an inspirational place for visitors that has been built on Geoff's legacy and a key attraction for visitors to this area. Locating (yet another) solar farm next door to these peaceful gardens should be blocked.

Kevin Richardson (Uppingham, 2024-02-08)

I am signing this petition to try to save Geoff Hamilton's legacy at Barnsdale gardens as the noise caused by the panels will potentially force the gardens to close

Sally Boyle (Tring, 2024-02-10)

Our family so loved Barnsdale Gardens our daughter got married there. Geoff Hamilton inspired the nation to garden and his family have continued his legacy. The gardens have history and should be protected. Rutland is a small unique county attracting many visitors. I don't think they want to come and see a solar farm!

Jennifer Vale (Worcester, 2024-02-11)

To lose Barnsdale gardens would mean losing a place which has taught people to garden and a place which contributes to the local economy drawing in tourism.

Diane Ray (Peterborough , 2024-02-11)

I used to watch dear Geoff Hamilton many years ago and have always loved Barnsdale..it would be a total disaster to loose such a beautiful special place and quite frankly this must be stopped.

Barnsdale Garden is important both as a collection of gardens full of ideas and inspiration for everyone, and for recognising and remembering its creator, Geoff Hamilton. Geoff presented the weekly BBC Gardeners World programme for many years and influenced a generation of gardeners in promoting a green and sustainable way of gardening - he was years before his time.
It is ironic that his legacy is threatened by a solar farm, but that can be located elsewhere, there is only one Barnsdale Garden and it should be retained for future generations.

Jennie Woods (Northampton, 2024-02-16)

Whilst supporting the move to sustainable electricity generation, I OPPOSE the application to build a solar farm adjacent to Barnsdale Gardens. There are acres of land in the Exton area just as suited to a solar farm as those proposed, and which would not impact on any local business, either visibly, or from noise pollution. Barnsdale Gardens are unique, and should be able to continue operating without the risk of the effect of this site 10 times bigger.

Marilyn Peck (Clacton on Sea, 2024-02-21)

The development of the solar farm could be detrimental to the Barnsdale business, wildlife & legacy of Geoff Hamilton & his family.
Local & national impact on the local economy & people's jobs & livlihood.Other potential sites need to be reviewed urgently.

Jackie Pickett (Kidderminster , 2024-03-06)

I think it is the wrong place to site this solar farm and it will be taking away a vital local resource for both visitors and wildlife

Jennifer Chandler (Billericay, 2024-03-09)

#2537

If there are alternative sites which would not disturb the nature and tranquility of Barnsdale, why not build there?

Carole Willis (Harwich, 2024-03-15)

I’m signing because this is an area that has been developed organically for over 30 years with a large assortment of native species.

Barnsdale Gardens is one of my favourite places to visit and a memorial to Geoff Hamilton, one of the best British gardeners.

Kay Bywater (London, 2024-03-22)

It's a fabulous place to visit and when I visited my Mum in Spalding we had an extremely special day there and I'd like to do that again the next time I go to Lincolnshire. Solar panels CANNOT be recycled so land for nature is FAR MORE IMPORTANT!

Hilary Cowles (CHELTENHAM, 2024-03-25)

In memory of one of the greatest gardeners of them all! Geoff is my go to for everything. His legendary gardens must be preserved!

Francesca Aylett (Bath, 2024-03-28)

I am deeply shocked to find that a proposal for an adjacent solar farm even exists. How can this be considered in the "public interest", when having such installation would mean the demise of a treasured and long established enterprise as this? We may need energy from natural resources, but we need accessible places such as Barnsdale Gardens for our health & wellbeing more. We say NO !

Trudy Shephard (Spalding, 2024-03-30)

It will ruin the beauty of the immediate area
