There is no need to remove this information.I highly doubt that having a fastest 500 turns people off turning up to parkrun.

I’m signing because I think these stats are as important a way of welcoming the fast runners, as the parkrwalker and Tailwalker are of welcoming walkers.Wendy Glen (Box Hill South, 2024-02-10)

I think that decisions that impact the parkrunning community should be surveyed within that community to capture the communities voice. This has been done without consult and without considering the impact to the larger communityAmber Ericksen (Newborough, 2024-02-10)

It is outrageous that we can’t see records. As a older runner I am motivated to see how I compare in my age group. Not only does it motivate it make me determined to be better!Peter Ramsay (Melbourne, 2024-02-10)

We are not two year old kids. I am 69 and can handle being beaten. I enjoy seeing others achieve PBs even though they beat me. That is what makes Parkrun so great, People doing their best and coming together and talk about it. You have a great thing going PLEASE do not stuff it up!Hank Kuys (Upwey, 2024-02-10)

Using inclusiveness as an excuse for not standing up and answering the hard questions is what a child would do. How about you restore access to the statistics, and deal with the real issue you're avoiding.Clinton McDonald (Endeavour Hills, 2024-02-10)

I object to my records after 10 years with parkrun being deleted without any consent. It's as if all those years of turning up to run and volunteering have been negated.SHAME ON YOU PARKRUN!!!!Robin Rozenblatt (Brisbane, 2024-02-10)

parkrun once catered for all participants. Performance data was a key source of motivation for many parkrun participants. The removal of this function from the website adversely affects the participation of those parkrunners. This decision is therefore in direct competition with parkrun's stated aim of increasing participation. There is no evidence to suggest that making such data available undermines the efforts of parkrun to provide a welcoming environment for everyone. To the contrary, parkrun once offered a unique solution for supporting and celebrating walkers and runners of all ages and abilities, catering for the unique barriers and enablers to their participation.
Please reverse this decision and make performance data available once more.

I’m passionate about athletics and parkrun was putting our best athletes on the map. It was providing a platform for those achieving incredible things to showcase that to people getting into running - something for them to be inspired by.As a serious runner myself, parkrun are basically saying I should be embarrassed to take this sport seriously… I feel silly for running the event hard now when I’m so proud to be a runner.

The core philosophy of parkrun is supposedly inclusivity. Removing the course records and statistics discourages and excludes runners who come to parkrun to better themselves while connecting with the community. Parkrun used to offer a unique opportunity for elite and sub elite athletes to run with their local community, and thus inspire more runners to keep turning up.Kieren Tall (Sydney, 2024-02-10)

I'm signing this petition because these records/statistics should never have been removed from public access. Years of hard work by runners around the world has now been effectively erased, without Parkrun even bothering to ask its regular participants if this is what the majority of them wanted. This decision was obviously made by bureaucrats, not runners!Paul Tierney (Gold Coast, 2024-02-10)

I’m signing because these stats are so important to so many runners;- they provide motivation to runners of either gender and all ages
- they demonstrate what runners of all ages and genders can achieve
- they are something to celebrate for many runners when they finish first and run sub17/20
- they provide a sence of pride and achievement to many as to what they used to be to do before aged or fell ill
If we’re to remove these stats, why do we keep times at all? In fact why do we even list runners’ age groups and gender in results?
In fact, why do we do our very best to ensure our course is actually 5k?
I agree that these stats are not important or valued by many, however, the only people we go see these stats are those who go looking for them. In no way are they a reflection of anyone who doesn’t make the list. Yo t hey e contrary, they normal excellence and perseverance.

I thoroughly enjoy a bit of healthy competition - which is not so easy to find as an older runner. I use parkrun as a gauge to see how my training is going. Without the valuable data I will certainly seek an alternative. This would be a real shame, as the parkrun model has been an absolutely brilliant one for both recreational and serious runners.Jill Wilkie (Bendigo, 2024-02-10)

Bring back course records and age category records. This erases all the hard work these runners have put in to strive for these records and it's discouraging for people that have been working towards this for years as now it is suddenly unavailable. Parkrun was already inclusive for people of all abilities, never heard of someone have an issue. This is counter productive and actually non-inclusive ad now a whole demographic of runners will be discouraged and likely stop parkrun.Corey Simmons (Newborough, 2024-02-10)

I totally disagree with this decision as it will only have negative affects on parkrun and it's participants. This decision without any consultation will do nothing to motivate current and future park runners or walkers. Age group stats and records are a huge part of park run or athletics on a whole, without these there is no incentive for young athletes striving to improve and for other athletes as they graduate to older age groups. As an RD and experienced runner I find this decision very disappointing.Steve Evans (Toowoomba, 2024-02-10)
