Not even the courtesy to send a letter home!
The new uniform is disgusting.
The current uniform is distinctive and looks smart.
It's been the same since I was a pupil there. Why fix what's not broken?

#27 Stand out from the crowd

I'm proud that my son's uniform stands out from the crowd, it's Roseacre's identity, heritage and history!

Is the new headteacher a relation to Vincent Tan?

Is this still a national standard? Or perhaps the 'Academy' are getting rid of that too!?!?

Areas for development from the recent parent survey, can't see any mention of completely changing the uniform and as such the schools identity on there!!!
Areas for development include:
 playground activities
 to ensure new technologies are utilized in school
 traffic safety around school
 litter around school

I have spoken to a lot of parents in my daughter's class and nobody knew about the new uniform and neither did my daughter. I think the current uniform is practical and recognisable and smart the new uniform is very tacky and scruffy looking and similar to other schools in this area. I think it is wrong to get rid of a shirt and tie they make the pupils look smart.

Ii don't think they should change the uniform as the colours they have chosen are more like nursery uniform and the colour roseacre have now is uniqe no other school in blackpool have that colour it's a nice smart uniform should be left how it is!

Rose acre his had this uniform since I went to this school over 30 years ago this is a practicle uniform and a great colour. There was nothing wrong with this uniform. Why change. Why was no one consulted !! We feel very dissapointed of the change.

Only just got a full school uniform 6 months ago. We paid a fortune for it and now we're being forced to pay out a fortune again when it's completely unnecessary. We can only buy it from first class kids, nothing can be bought cheap not even the shirts. With all the extra expenses already involved at this school I'm starting to think we chose the wrong school.

The current uniform is smart and unique.
So why change to something that is like other schools and bland.
Polo shirts really !!
The school should also consider the money invested in existing school uniforms. Are they going to refund parents for existing uniform items that they can re-use each new school year.
Why are they changing something that works and gives parents and children pride to wear.

A new uniform is a significant change, and DfE guidance (Sept 2013) states the following:
"We strongly recommend that in setting its uniform/appearance policy the governing body:
 consider the timeframe for introducing a new uniform policy or amending an existing one;
 take into account the views of parents and pupils on significant changes to school uniform policy;
 consider the cost, the available supply sources and year round availability of the proposed uniform to ensure it is providing best value for money for parents"
A full a& thorough consultation should therefore be undertaken before this change is implemented, not just a survey about preferred dates for introducing it. I believe this has caused serious damage to the relationship between management and parents, which could so easily have been avoided.

Over 600 parents at roseacre and less than 150 in on this maybe some parents actually like the change. Some times change is good!!

The note from the school states that children have been consulted. However, neither of my children have been consulted about the new uniform and one is on the School Council where one would expect matters such as these to be discussed. The current brown uniform makes our children unique in the South Shore area and the shirt and tie also makes them stand out as being smart. The proposed uniform fails to retain little of the current Roseacre identity, whilst looking tacky and garish. I am certainly not happy about spending our hard earned money on this cheap looking outfit.

#41 Too similar to other schools

2014-03-23 20:01

Looks remarkably like the headteacher's previous school uniform. (Worsley Mesnes School, Wigan) She should realise that Roseacre is a different school and help preserve their different identity. The only difference will be yellow polo shirts instead of red. Also similar to other local school's colours.
Also, fastening shirt buttons, doing ties is good for fine motor control. the proposed uniform will not help our children develop this skill, which many children struggle with. Please leave current uniform alone as smart, traditional and no reason to change. The school has had many headteacher's and none have needed to change uniform in such a dramatic way.
Frustrated parent

Perhaps they do - but without a proper consultation we'll never actually know, and neither will the Academy! Such a big change merits proper dialogue with all interested parties, and that includes parents. We can't assume that people are happy with it just because they don't feel able to oppose it for whatever reason.

Re: #39 yes some parents and students might like it. And yes only a small number have signed it, but this only went live over the weekend and has only been shared through facebook....So not all parents maybe aware of this petition yet.

If youve read the blurb then surely you understand the whole point of this is about democracy and the right to be consulted!? If a petition of this nature gets 140 signatures in less than 48 hours which potentially represents over 25% of pupils affected (yr 6 excluded in line with the online 'consultation' aka lip service) then I'd say there's a good chance some parents do and some parents don't like the changes. Change is good, respect is even better!

Keep the brown heritage that easily distinguishes Roseacre. I can see the practicality of polo shirts, particularly for ks1, but why not make them optional as the shirt and tie looks so smart and many of the children actually like to wear it. Regarding the consultation with students, that appears to have been minimal whilst consultation with parents non existant.
