The most recent crime statistics have revealed a shocking increase in crime including sexual offences, attempted murder, assault with intent, burglary at residential premises, carjacking, drug related crime and robbery with aggravated circumstances.

• Sexual offences have risen by 19.2%
• Murder up by 15.1%
• Attempted murder up by 3.1%
• Burglary at residential premises up by 6.3%
• Carjacking up by 58.7%
• Rape up by 35.8%
• Robbery with aggravated circumstances 36.8%
• Robbery at residential premisis up by 23.7%
• Robbery at non-residential premisis up by 27.3%
• Burglary at non-residential premisis up by 75%
• Theft of Motor vehicles and motorcycles up by 48.8% 

The DA calls on the Portfolio Committee on Police to urgently investigate the lack of sector police officers and vehicles, which is contributing to the raging crime rate.
