It is my human right to be able to make my own choices and smoking is one of them!

Lizette Bakker (Pretoria, 2020-04-29)

#7

Why must we buy sigarette on the black market that is expencive rather buy from the shops and the goverment can have tax money out of it

Arno Van der merwe (Pretoria, 2020-04-29)

A breach of freedom and liberties

Coenie Kukkuk (Pretoria, 2020-04-29)

Absolute absurd, unban cigarettes.im already buying from black market. I feel like a criminal having to sneak out and put my life in danger. What is it with these rules!

Sharon Stothers (Capetown , 2020-04-29)

#11

Because it is unfair no human right where that is cocern. Every human has rights and it not fair to the smokers!

i am a smoker and have bipolar and other psychological and mental illnesses and smoking calms me down...

Ian Erasmus (Pretoria, 2020-04-29)

I have been smoking for over 20 years. ...my doctor said if I go cold turkey my body will react extremely negative and I have a 80% chance of having a fatal heart attack...I'm a good person with no criminal records,I don't drink or do drugs...I am now being forced, and i mean FORCED!.,;to put myself in extremely dangerous situations just to stop myself having a heart attack...I will make sure the government and this woman NOT empowering group is on my grave stone for the rest of the world to see...no other county band cigarettes, ONLY SOUTH AFRICA HAS BANNED CIGARETTES...this band is very clearly a personal vendetta of non smokers against smokers and nothing to do with health or caring for the nation...I have officially lost all faith in our government and all parties that support them...your hospitals are going to be flooded by smokers having serious lethal side affects in the next week...more than half the country is going to turn against you and I 100% support them...you gave us false hope then ripped it away without warning...
You went against your own words that you said in a public speech to your county....your word means nothing anymore...you don't care about your people...the only thing you have done right is make the devil proud

Sarah Kroon (Joburg , 2020-04-30)

I smoke Proper Cigarettes and now I must buy bad quality cigarettes that is more harmful!!!

Renske Goosen (Pretoria, 2020-04-30)

#28

I smoke normal sigarettes in the privacy of my own house I am aware of the health consequences, but it's my human right to put my OWN health at risk. I don't share with anybody anybody and can't spread Corona through smoking.

Marinda Cockcroft (Pretoria , 2020-04-30)

#31

I'm signing this petition because I want cigarette to be on sales

Sibongile Khumalo (Johannesburg, 2020-04-30)

#37

Everyone has rights!!!

Roshan Nunnen (Durban, 2020-04-30)

#39

Treasia Jansen Van Vuuren (Pretoria, 2020-04-30)

#40

It's my right to be able to purchase cigarettes and not be dictated to.

Noeline Kukard (East london , 2020-04-30)

#41

Since when is south Africa run like this? Dictating what we as human beings can and can't do in our own homes. This is ridiculous as we are adults and capable of making up our own minds regarding smoking

Melissa Steyn (Port elizabeth , 2020-04-30)

#43

My rights have been taken away from me

Sharon Lansdell (Jhb, 2020-04-30)

Hantie Botha (Pretoria, 2020-04-30)

#52

I had been smoking since I was 12 years old. My choice.
Now I am 65 and some person want to tell me, I have to stop smoking. The reason beeing she is a anti smoking activest, instead of caring and upholding her duty as setout in our constitusion.

Fritz Rossouw (Pretoria, 2020-04-30)

#53

I had so much respect for our president, and stood up for him against some others. Now he allows an old woman who, (according to the country's own lockdown rules) should be self isolating at home, to negate his whole trustworthy reputation. Is this because she is a Zuma? If so, it makes the situation even worse.

Diane Schulman (Cape Town, 2020-04-30)

#54

How doe NDZ overrule the President? And this based on 2000 that is against selling cigs? I am not a smoker, but THIS is not constitutional or democratic at all

Estelle Potgieter (Stellenbosch, 2020-04-30)

#55

I think its not politically correct to force people out of their human right! How can one goverment make two opposite decisions in a few days time? How does this decision making process work?

Santie Carelse (Randfontein, 2020-04-30)

#56

I wanted buy cigarettes

Tania Wit (Alberton, 2020-04-30)

#59

I believe the reduced availability of cigarettes is more likely to lead to people sharing a cigarette which is exactly what the Minister claims she wants to stop from happening

A Adrian Walters (Johannesburg, 2020-04-30)

#62

I don't want to support illegal Sigarette trade, have trucks hijacked, sigarettes stolen and go to places unsave to buy sigarettes. I don't like sharing every single sigarette i smoke with my sister and anybody that walks past. I had to smoke the neighbours left over stompies last week ☹️

Make smokes easy to find, more affordable and people won't share, they won't steel and trade illegally.

Jacqueline de la Porte (Western Cape, 2020-04-30)

#63

I'm signing this petition due to the fact that, smokers smoke privately, it is a joke that Nannies, domestics, buses, trains and taxi's are allowed during stage 4. Who knows who out of these will spread the virus. Let smokers have their rights. No one is getting the virus from smokes.

Delysia Doonan (Eastern Cape, 2020-04-30)

#66

The goverment can have tax money out of it now its banned. We buy sigarette on the black market that is expencive and no tax for the government in which they can use this tax money for food parcels. And if we do buy we smoke at home not in public due to corona virus. Well its the governments loss and the blackmarket having a fat smile "scoring" the exstra.

Erika McLachlan (Gauteng , 2020-04-30)

#68

I'm a smoker and no one can dictate if I smoke or not
U are stripping us

Bron Thring (Johannesburg , 2020-04-30)

#70

I am a law abiding citizen and now the government is forcing us into finding alternative ways to buy cigarettes. This is utterly ridiculous after the president said we would be able to buy at level 4. Totally been blind sided and making us all distrust him at the moment!

Uvalde Swanepoel (Potchefstroom , 2020-04-30)

#73

Die verbod is onrealisties. Koop nou sigarette op swartmark, en staat verloor al die pad geld

Hildie Potgieter (Pretoria, 2020-04-30)

#74

THAT ZUMA CAN OVERRIDE / OVERPOWER THE PRESIDENT ON THE RUMOUR THAT 2000 OPPOSE HIS RULING, IS APPALLING AND MAKES THE PRESIDENT A FOOLISH IDIOTIC

ROBERT RAMSAY (BENONI, 2020-04-30)

#75

I have a right to choose. Lift ban!!!!

Lynette Waldburger (Durban, 2020-04-30)

#76

This government has no right to take away my constitunual right to smoke. How can Mr. President open up his speech saying cigarettes will be on sale from 1st May then his puppets reminder it.

Denise Zaackd (Somerset West, 2020-04-30)

#78

I'm signing because the ban of tobacco sales must be lifted with level 4 on onwards.

Beverly Corbett (Cape Town, 2020-04-30)

#81

It is my right!!

Cheryl Hill (Cape town, 2020-04-30)

#83

It's a draconian nonsensical ban!!!

Janet Hyde (Durban, 2020-04-30)

#84

You are taking away our human rights and this is not allowed. There is something more sinister going on with this ban as other people in parliament is gaining from this. You are losing millions on tax.... You are a joke!

Lizette Venter (PRETORIA, 2020-04-30)

#85

A ban on cigarette sales is pointless. People who share cigarettes must bear the consequences

Tania Otto (Randburg, 2020-04-30)

#91

I’m signing because I use an electronic cigarette and I need to buy oil. I think it’s unfair that a minister is over ruling the President.

Santie Wharam (Alberton, 2020-04-30)

#98

I'm signing because it helps me not to crave for drugs as i am a recoverd addict please lift the ban on tabaco

Johan Van Der Riet (Heidelberg, 2020-04-30)

#101

Iam signing because iam financialy impacted badly.

Mzamo Sitoe (Tembisa, 2020-05-01)

#103

I want my right to smoke isolated in my own home to be reinstated. Mrs Zuma's pathetic reason for the ban is that cigarettes are sometimes shared. Then she must ban the sale of bottled water and cooldrinks, for they too are often shared. Consistency, Mrs Zuma!
She claims to have 2000 people who support the ban - miniscule compared to the 300, 000 signatures requesting the lifting of the ban. Where is your sense of democracy, Mrs Zuma?
R35 million A DAY in lost taxes from cigarette sales would go a long way to feed the hungry, or do you simply not care, Mrs Zuma?
Don't you realize, Mrs Zuma that banning the sale of cigarettes does not stop people smoking. Those in the black market are singing and dancing in the streets - blessing and thanking you - you are their hero, you are their goose that's laid a golden egg! How does that make you feel?

Joy Smith (Cape Town, 2020-05-01)

#105

I'm signing as it is my right to choose, freedom if choice, no politician has right to choose on my behalf!

Shawn Johns (Cape Town, 2020-05-02)

#108

Prohibiting tobacco can cause more harm than good, for the elderly to suddenly stop smoking an cause death sooner. Withdrawals can cause domestic abuse to spouses and children. Robberies for sigs and even murder to get sigs.

Natasha Castillo (Cape Town, 2020-05-03)

#109

It is my right as an adult to choose whether to smoke or not. The ban on tobacco sales has only driven the trade underground, which is far more detrimental than allowing tobacco products to be sold legally.

Alison Smekal (Cape Town, South Africa, 2020-05-03)

#110

Illegal market making money from poor people. It's everybody's human right to decide if they want to smoke or not.

Lorraine Edwards (Benoni, 2020-05-04)

#112

I am a smoker and I pay tax, VAT & Customs on my cigarettes. I deserve to make my own choices on my lifestyle without prescription from anti-smokers
