Save our green spaces - land between Bassett Close and Lower Earley Way in Wokingham Borough, Berkshire

Ever since Lower Earley was built, ther hs been a substantial green corridor running the whole way between the hosuing estate and Lower Earley Road. This is a vital wildlife corridor for bitds, animals and insects, as well as roviding the facility for residents to walk on green space for over two miles - especially appreciated in lockdown. The proosed development will shear through this corridor. The proposal spills outside the desginated urban envelope. It should not be allowed to reduce the width of the green barrier necessary to protect wildlife.Judith Clark (Reading, 2021-01-28)

I’m signing because I have grave concerns about the following areas that this development poses:Pressure on primary and secondary schools in the area.
Pressure on doctor surgeries
Lack of parks and activities to cope with additional population increasing crime in the area.
Loss of green spaces
Increasing the pressure on the river Loddon and flooding
The additional noise pollution during social and unsocial hours due to truck deliveries for Lidl and the extra noise of cars. The average household has at least 2 cars per household. This is fact. 40 housing units meaning an additional 80 cars as a minimum.
The location of entrance practically sitting on top of the roundabout and very close to Chatteris Way entry.
There was a serious problem with cars ending up in the ditch by this roundabout until the Council changed its layout. The traffic will be stacked up again causing accidents around that roundabout if this goes ahead.

Green space is vital for wildlife and public mental health in an already overdeveloped area, and the design submitted to the public consultation shows a potentially dangerous vehicle ingress/egress situation close to a roundabout notorious for accidents.Ann Memmott (Earley, Reading, 2021-01-31)

I'm signing because Reading is getting very overcrowded and we need to preserve our green space.David Leake (Reading, 2021-02-06)

We are losing too many green spaces, we need to stop now. We don't need another supermarket. There are plenty of supermarkets already in this catchment area... Asda, Marks and Spencer, Iceland, Sainsbury's not to mention retailers at all the petrol stations too.Anthony Heard (Lower Earley, 2021-02-09)

I'm signing this petition because this is already a densely built up area and every bit of undeveloped land is precious to wildlife, but also to local people, as sort of lungs.Sue Auty (Reading, 2021-03-23)

We need to protect our green spaces from over development. There must surely be more suitable brownfield sites available for this purpose. I am not convinced that development proposals generally fully take into account the potential for brownfield development. Good luck with the petition.Elaine Macaulay (Lower Earley, Reading, 2021-03-27)

Nature and open space is too important, plus we need 1, 2 and 3 bed houses, not 4 and 5 bed houses for the richA PAUL (READING, 2021-03-28)

Let's not erode our green spaces any more than we need to. Pretty soon there will just be buildings all the way to the M4 if we don't put a stop to it.ADAM DAVIDSON (Reading, 2021-04-06)

I don't want to see anyone destruction of meadows and open space. We need this area for our mental health and for the wildlife. This area is already far too over crowded with housing and traffic.June Daniels (READING, 2021-06-02)

We deserve to keep our green spaces, instead of yet another unneeded developmentAndres Groves (Lower Earley, 2021-06-03)

There are a huge number of new houses in this area still with no increase in necessary infrastructure such as doctors/ schools or park facilities. The little natural spaces we had for safe cycling, rambling & dog walking have already disappeared with construction of motorways houses and shops. The last thing we need is more houses in Lower Earley & especially not here. It is one of the last places that many animals live in what was undisturbed land.Celia Smith (Earley, 2021-06-15)

I do not wish to see further housing development, bringing yet more traffic, in an unsuitable location and at the cost of green space.John Ferguson (Reading, 2021-07-06)

I am signing this petition because the clearing of trees and vegetation and plans for building of a Lidel supermarket on Swallows Meadow is taking over a community green space, wildlife habitat and longstanding public right of way and detrimental to the local residents visual amenity. This could instead easily be built as priorityon the part deralict Cutbush Lane industrial estate . As a local resident and council tax payerI object strongly to this clearance and development planIan Palmer (33 Swepstone Close Lower Earley RG63EZ, 2021-07-06)
