In my opinion the sentance was to lenient in the first place, being as he had already been convicted before for texting on his phone while driving.
Obviously he had not learnt his lesson.
6 years for taking the life of two people is not enough.
Never mind apealing for a less sentence it should have been a life sentence in my
Opinion.

#1004

I'm saying this because two innocent lives got lost and he should get longer

(Preston, 2018-10-22)

#1006

People need to learn that using a mobile telephone whilst driving is as unacceptable as driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

(preston lancashire, 2018-10-23)

#1010

They should stay where they are

(Preston, 2018-10-23)

#1014

6 years was not enough to compensate for the loss these families have had to endure. No way should it be any less

(Bentleigh, 2018-10-23)

#1017

Mohamed Salman Patel denied he was driving dangerously at the time of the collision but was found guilty in court. Patel has a previous conviction of using his phone while driving. In this case leniency is not suitable or proper in the circumstances.

(Preston, 2018-10-23)

#1019

i think it should have been a longer sentence

(presron, 2018-10-23)

#1022

Far too lenient, if he does get the appeal it doesn’t always mean he will get reduced sentence he could get more time added on, let’s hope the judge sees sense and add to his time.

(Preston, 2018-10-23)

#1023

I'm signing the petition because, I don't think he should have his sentence shortened,if anything death by dangerous driving killing two young girls who had there full life ahead of them had there life robbed.by this man no was no justice is absolutely horrendous what he got charged he should of been charged with death by dangerous driving, due care an attention n two life or manslaughter charges severing at least 15 20 years that way more people will pay attention to driving instead of using mobiles at the wheel wen driving he should of got longer.... He deservers locked up for good or electric chair for anyone to take a life should have there life takin too the justice system these days is f**k*d up... Think about the girls parents they have to live with this for life while that vile man still has a life wen he out by in the public were is the justice for these families who lost there baby's Rachel n Shelby r.i.p girls fly high never b forgotten always in our hearts xxx

(Preston, 2018-10-23)

#1026

its a disgrace deservese longer

(preston, 2018-10-24)

#1027

He should of got 6yrars for each kid disgrace sentence

(PRESTON, 2018-10-24)

#1028

Famillies been through too much poor things need justic

(Preston, 2018-10-24)

#1029

How he has the nerve to appeal 2 lives taken

(Preston, 2018-10-24)

#1030

The punishment does not seem to fit the crime. To allow early release would devalue the lives of the victims.

It is not like there is insufficient publicity about the devastation that using a telephone whilst driving can cause.

(Preston, 2018-10-24)

#1031

I'm signing because I feel it extremely important that this criminal is made an example of. What is the point in having a law if you're not even going to enforce the pittance of a sentence that was already handed down? If this man is allowed to be set free then a very dangerous precedent is being set and the people will be in uproar.

(Preston, 2018-10-25)

#1034

I personally believe this mans sentance should be increased not appealed he ended two young females who had at least 70 years if life infront of them if not more also the chance of having there own children and happeness ,and that was all taken away because people think its ok to drive and use a mobile phone discusting he can even think about appealing the familes of these two young females my heart goes out to you and i hope his sentance is increased

(Preston, 2018-10-26)

#1036

The sentence this man got is not right, he killed two young girls he should of received 2 life sentences

(Presto, 2018-10-30)

#1039

Miscarriage of justice!!!! Rip shelby and rachel

(Preston, 2018-11-03)

#1042

I am signing this as Ria has found it so difficult without her best friend no one should ever be taken so young. Shelby had her whole life ahead of her she was only just starting it when she was taken from this world.

(Bristol, 2018-11-05)

#1045

It is obvious to me that this driver was more intent on his own business, that of texting to his partner, rather than on watching the road ahead and driving responsibly. It would be a disgrace to grant him an appeal. His sentence was already too lenient and should be reconsidered. Having NO understanding of what he had just done, until after pulling over to the side of the road, demonstrates that his concentration must have been elsewhere. Other motorists are shown to have registered advanced knowledge of the position of the people in the road! Yet he had no idea they were, or had been right in the path of his car, even after he had hit them!

(Thornton-Cleveleys, 2018-11-05)

#1046

This man deserves to have a longer sentence than the pitiful one he got, he killed two innecent girls and destroyed two families lives. No sentence can bring back Shelby and Rachel but he should be made accountable for this actions.

(Preston, 2018-11-09)

#1047

This person. Should be locked up for two life sentences. He took two innocent lives.

(Preston, 2018-11-09)

#1048

I’m signing because it isn’t right that he get off if it was his little girl he would think differently but he won’t even accept he’s done wrong

(Preston, 2018-11-11)

#1058

I was at the scene of the accident and it was carnage. This guy did nothing to help the girls that were dying at his hands and was only bothered about himself. He needs his sentence increasing as serving 1.5 years per life taken is a joke - he isn’t even remorseful

(Preston, 2019-01-13)

#1066

Because 6 years for killing those two girls and nearly killing others that day where's the justice

(Preston, 2019-01-13)

#1074

Disgrace it is murder horrible

(Preston, 2019-01-13)

#1078

Rachael was my best friend

(Preston, 2019-01-14)

#1086

His sentence was a sham and to already been done for using his phone

(Preston, 2019-01-14)

#1087

Because it should be classed as murder far too lienent

(Bedworth, 2019-01-14)

#1101

I’m signing because real justice should be done for Rachel and Shelby, no matter what excuses people can give about them ‘being on the road’. Innocent lives were lost because of this vile creature

(Leeds, 2019-01-28)

#1107

The system is a joke. Should be life for a life.

(Preston, 2019-01-28)

#1109

It’s not long enough sentence!

(Preston, 2019-01-28)

#1110

I’m signing because he needs to serve he’s sentence and I feel he should have got longer

(Preston, 2019-03-09)

#1111

He does not deserve to have a appeal he should of hot longer

(Preston, 2019-03-09)

#1114

I'm signing because 6 years is not enough. Should be life for a life. In which case he took 2 lives that day. If he doesn't get longer then I will never trust the justice system!

(Preston, 2019-03-09)

#1115

It’s the right thing to do .

(Preston, 2019-03-09)

#1116

3 years is not enough for the girls or families they have to live with their loss for life, throw away the key

(PRESTON, 2019-03-09)

#1117

I am signing this as although it won’t bring them back I think the sentence was to light

(Ashford, 2019-03-09)

#1118

I’m signing this petition because I’m against this “gentleman” getting any reduction to his sentence which was far to lenient in the first case.

(Preston, 2019-03-22)

#1120

He should get longer scum serve ur sentence Rachel Shelby were more than capable crossing a road your to blame rip beautifuls

(Preston, 2019-05-13)

#1121

Drivers have to know it's wrong to use a phone while driving and causing unnecessary deaths

(Preston, 2019-05-13)

#1123

Rachal was my best mate and this is for her and her mate that past away with her RIP love u both xxx

(Preston, 2019-05-13)

#1124

His sentence was already too lenient

(Preston, 2019-05-13)

#1125

1.5years!! that’s what he’s getting for taking a life I mean they were 17 and my age (23) it’s just horrific because I’ve studied a course longer in college than this guys doing for “Commiting” murder, it’s crucial that he understands what he has actually taken away and broke up right there in the selfish act, I didn’t personally know either one of the victims, but I have close friends and family the same age, I feel sick even thinking about the thought of one of them telling me “I’m off out” and not coming back afterwards because some tool has gotten a chub on speeding thinking it’s cool. That would tear me in half but 1 and a half years in prison!? And if I’m correct only half of that for good behaviour unless that’s a myth not sure, besides the point is this fella is essentially... Getting away with murder. #JusticeNeedsToBeServed

(Preston, 2019-05-13)

#1126

Our justice systems a joke the guy has killed 2 girls and he only has to serve 3 years that’s ridiculous, give him a proper sentence those 2 poor girls can’t get there life back and think about there poor families and friends this is absolutely heart breaking

(Preston, 2019-05-14)

#1127

I’m signing because Shelby was one of my best friends and I want her and her family to have justice!she the most talented girl and would of been able to follow her dreams if it wasn’t for him

(Blackpool, 2019-05-14)

#1128

These two girls were friends with my younger brother, it has affected many people in different ways the loss of these two special girls

(Carlisle, 2019-05-14)

#1133

He killed two people one of these girls was my friend. 6 years isn’t long enough in the first place.

(Preston, 2019-06-08)

#1135

Its disgusting he.s even allowed to appeal
Also should have got alot longer sentence
6yrs for 2 girls lives is an insult to their familys

(Blackburn, 2019-06-10)

#1138

Disgraceful waste of tax payers money ..judicial services and incredibly cruel to the victims family

(Darwen, 2019-06-10)

#1139

He should have his sentence doubled.

(Lancashire, 2019-06-10)

#1142

I firstly think the 6 year sentence was to soft for these 2 ladies losing there lives and his appeal should be thrown out

(Blackburn, 2019-06-10)

#1149

I believe 6 years is too lenient in any case. To reduce it further would make a mockery of the legal system & is an insult to the families.

(Preston, 2019-06-10)

#1159

I'm disgusted! Driving whilst using a mobile phone is bad enough but killing 2 people and a 6 year sentence... where's the justice for these poor families??

(Accrington, 2019-06-10)

#1160

Texting whilst driving should be given a stronger sentence whether a death has accused or not.

(Todmorden, 2019-06-10)

#1161

6 years is nothing to pay for taking the lives of two young girls, the fact he is trying to get it reduced is disgraceful he clearly has no remorse. The sentence being served by the victims can’t be reduced why the hell should his ??

(Blackburn, 2019-06-10)

#1162

The very fact that he is requesting an appeal, proves that he shows no remorse whatsoever. If anything, his sentence shpuld be increased to reflect the seriousness of the consequences of his reckless actions.

(Burnley, 2019-06-10)

#1163

the orginal sentence was too lenient.

(Darwen, 2019-06-10)

#1164

the horrible monster who murdered these lovely, innocent girls, has no remorse whatsoever, he should hang

(Accrington, 2019-06-10)

#1167

6 years for 2 lives is not justice

(Isparta, 2019-06-10)

#1171

Simple. The law is never on the side of the victims, and sentencing is a insult to the families of the victims.

(Accrington, 2019-06-10)

#1173

The sentence is already too lenient and should not be reduced.

(Lancashire, 2019-06-10)

#1174

I'm signing because this man pleaded not guilty to causing the deaths of these two young women, and despite the jury taking only 41 minutes to find him guilty, he continues to show neither remorse nor any responsibility for his actions. He deserves to spend more than the 3 years e will spend in prison.

(blackburn, 2019-06-10)

#1178

A asad

(Blackburn, 2019-06-10)

#1180

The sentence he has received for the two lives he has taken is an insult, the minute he picked up his phone he knew he would be distracted from driving his car and that alone should carry a prison sentence, let alone the 2 lives he has taken and the families he has destroyed

(Lancashire, 2019-06-10)

#1182

This driver should not have the right to appeal his sentence I cannot believe the cheek of this man it’s a absolute disgrace that he is considering an appeal. let these to girls rest in peace.

(Darwen, 2019-06-10)

#1186

three years for each victim of murder was to lenient,he pleaded not guilty ,I would double his sentence

(blackburn, 2019-06-11)

#1187

I feel that Mohamed Patel got of lightly with the original sentence, and that it should be increased not reduced.

(Accrington, 2019-06-11)

#1188

Six years for one life would not be enough but two lives. What has happened to real justice in this country.

(Darwen, 2019-06-12)

#1190

It’s an offence to use a phone while driving so therefore he has no right to appeal guilty as charged

(Lancashire, 2019-06-13)

#1191

In my opinion the sentence is already too lenient.

(Burnley, 2019-06-16)

#1195

I find it appalling that he killed two young girl's and his sentence is only 6 years. It was no accident as we know not to use our phones whilst driving. He should have been given a life sentence. These girls have no future why should he!!!

(Blackburn, 2019-11-17)
