The fence is aesthetically pleasing. Is causing no obstruction and protecting the property.Louise Hubbert (Ripon, 2021-04-27)
#604
This fence looks unintrusive and provides some extra security.Craig Young (Pontefract, 2021-04-27)

Its an absolute scandal that this family cannot protect their property and privacy. The bylaws need to be brought up to date, not persecuting families unreasonably.George McPadden (Leeds, 2021-04-27)
#611
Bureaucracy gone mad.Fence provides security and does not look out of place.
Brett Sidebottom (Barnsley, 2021-04-27)
#612
It's a lovely fence and helps with security.Hayley Moussaoui (London, 2021-04-27)
#617
First of all, it seems a practical reason to protect their property. Secondly, anyone should have the right to build a fence around their home.Christopher Burrows (Leeds, 2021-04-27)
#620
Because its ridiculous that somebody who is trying to make their property secure and tidy looking is being persecuted because their neighbours don't like the fence which clearly is looks tidy and is better looking than an over grown hedge which many people on broadway seem to have.Michelle Thompson (Leeds, 2021-04-27)
#622
The fence enhances the area and is well cared for and maintained. There are higher hedges in neighbouring properties streets so I feel it’s deeply unfair to victimise this one residentAngie Talbot (Leeds, 2021-04-27)
#625
The fence is a nice size not at all intrusive.it looks neat and tidySarah Todd (Leeds, 2021-04-27)
#628
Its an utter jobsworth to demand lowering of five foot fence when two metres high is the national legal limit. That is why I support this petition.Valerie Lennard (Bradford, 2021-04-27)
#631
Security is essential to these guys and the fence takes nothing away from the surrounds at all.damien McNaboe (Leeds, 2021-04-27)
#633
This is ridiculous of leeds city coucil, you have invested your own money to improve YOUR property, this fence appears completely within keeping to its surroundings, looking at the picture the fence is marginal higher than the gate of the next door property, bushes and plants appear same size as fence.Messages to the leeds coucil- actually invest your TIME and MONEY and true problems, rather than trying to hinder people lives and security!! Be there for the people not against!!
This person has done something positive and improved property would you rather they vandalise or let a build become dilapidated to an actually eye sore. Silly silly silly

I am having a similar issue with my fence. Its 5ft and all other fences in my street are between 4-7ft but I am the only one being singled out by the council. If a do as they say and reduce it to 3 ft my German shepherd will have a great time chasing every dog/cat/bird/bike/blowing leaf up and down the street. I wonder how many complaints I would get then. I think I am entitled to the same security as the rest of the street.Angie Mcgaharon (Morley, 2021-04-28)
#637
It looks niceJake Hobson (Leeds, 2021-04-28)

It's there house they are trying to keep there property safe. Let them have there fence. Just because some sad person doesn't like it doesn't mean they should have to change it.Laura Small (West Yorkshire, 2021-04-28)
#641
Lovely fence a real improvement on what was there before. Don't understand the height issue as it's well away from the road and doesn't impose vision for drivers. Maybe spend more time tackling the actual problem (thieves and vandalism) you should be able to feel safe in your home.Richard Green (Leeds, 2021-04-28)
#643
It is not an eyesore, people are entitled to their privacy...Alison Gordon (Leeds, 2021-04-28)
#649
People should be free to protect their homes, a 5ft fence does not seem extreme to me and it looks smart.Angela Brady (Leeds, 2021-04-28)
#651
5ft fence, looks good, stops unwanted visiters and one complaint, the council is wasting money over this...really!!Paul Seavers (Bradford, 2021-04-28)
#653
Its not doing anyone any harm its helped keep their home safe so i don't see the problem so who ever it is need to stop being a moaning myrtle and just get on with their lives its kinda sad really crying over a fenceJane mctear (leeds, 2021-04-28)
#658
Because it's nobodies business if someone wants to protect or stop Intruders coming into the garden. Plus it looks lovely. Clean and tidy.Shona Boyes (Leeds, 2021-04-28)
#660
Either sort the crime out, or let them keep the fence. It looks good, does the job (that the police paid by OUR taxes clearly aren't doing) and most of the neighbours like it. Planning permission should not be a problem here in this case.Daniel R (Leeds, 2021-04-28)
#662
This is pathetic. It looks neat and tidy. Not as if it’s an eyesore. Pity Leeds city council haven’t got anything better to do. About time they started diverting some resources to assessing the state of some of the road surfaces and getting them repaired instead of employing someone to deal with tosh like this.Sally Greenough (Wakefield, 2021-04-28)
#666
The fence is more appealing than an unkept hedge and looks very tidyRoand Barret (Leeds, 2021-04-28)
#667
Lovely fence, both bringing the aesthetic of the area up and warding crime away from the area. This should be commended not vilified.Ian Simmons (Whitehill, 2021-04-28)
#668
This couple are not breaking any rules. They are trying to keep their property and possessions safe. It's moronic to tell them to move it after a year.Siobhan Pinder (Leeds, 2021-04-28)
#669
Absolutely disgrace on LCC behalf once again, i too was in same position but eventually granted it. LCC need to get their priorities right and inspect gardens that aren't to a standard and all them people who bring the neighbourhood down. Good luck to the couple and peruse itSarah Godfrey (Leeds, 2021-04-28)
#673
The council state no fences over 2 mtrs without permission, not under!Mick Watson (Leeds, 2021-04-28)
#676
He has put the fence up to protect his property which has worked. He did the checks prior. Council should be thanking them.Debra Egan (Leeds, 2021-04-28)
#677
I'm signing because the council should understand the need for a higher fence and not hide behind rules and regulations. One mean person shouldn't have the power to have the fence taken down. Mr. Dudley has the right to feel safe and protect his home.Maria Peart (Leeds, 2021-04-28)
#678
The fence looks brilliant and if it keeps the theifs out then well done why take something down that looks perfectly ok.Whats wrong with people theses days. I say leave it in place.Angela Gee (Leeds west Yorkshire, 2021-04-28)
#681
There is nothing wrong with the fence. They are in guidelines that Leeds city council have them self. The fence looks nice and has given them security from been robbed.Louise Warner (Leeds, 2021-04-28)
#682
I have suffered from a malicious neighbour , no-one in authority will support you.Linda Hellaby (Leeds, 2021-04-28)
#684
They have a right to keep their property safe. People work hard for nice things and if the fence keeps scrotes out then why shouldnt they have it. I've been burgled and know how awful it is.Karen Broom (Wetherby, 2021-04-28)
#685
It just shows the utter stupidity of Leeds council.surely this helps and improves the neighborhood cutting crime can only benefit the community.Richard Peet (Bradford, 2021-04-28)
#686
What kind of sad individual goes out of their way and takes the time to fill out a compliant over a fence, a fence that is inoffensive, doesn't block light onto another persons property and is clearly well constructed. More to the point though, how much time does Leeds Council have on its hands to actually look into this and send a representative round for ONE compliant, like seriously...... this is the world we live in now, you can have 1000 people vote for something but if a single person objects then the world grinds to a halt and we have to ultimately only consider that persons feelings, over a fence!!! Honestly the world has gone mad, instead of going after this gentleman for trying to protect his hard earned possessions, why don't you actually do your jobs and provide better neighbour security, increased policing, more CCTV in the area and take proper preventative action then this man wouldn't have to take such actions and all of this wouldn't be an issue, i am so sick of the world going after the little guy when ultimately the book starts and stops with you.... the councilOliver Burton (Huddersfield, 2021-04-28)
#687
I am singing this because, the gate looks lovely, looks like it adds to the property & street & is clearly causing no harm. Allow them to protect their home!Thiopia Benjamin (Leeds, 2021-04-28)

#705
The council need to get their priorities straight. The fence looks nice and rightfully secures this family's home.Jessica Plumbley (Leeds, 2021-04-28)
#707
I believe the fence looks attractive and not at all out of place. The hedge/fence next door is not significantly lower. Given the security issues, I would say the fence is both required and entirely suitable. Petty council “rules” and individuals with an axe to grind, should not overrule common sense in this case.Simon Blackburn (Ripon, 2021-04-28)
#709
There is nothing wrong with this fence and it looks a lot better than what was there before.I would have done the same to protect my property

#719
the fence is far tidier and at the end of the day it looks far better than a 6/7 ft privet (which is allowed by the way !!!) and far less maintainenceJanet Patterson (Leeds, 2021-04-28)

3 foot high fences are outdated now due to security issues and impossible to keep dogs , except the very smallest, to be contained securely in the garden without leaping over the topLinda Jackson (Selby, 2021-04-29)
#745
The fence looks lovely and is clearly needed!Alex Saunders (Leeds, 2021-04-29)
#746
It's ridiculous not a high fence at all and the hedges over the road are higher . If we have to do certain things to protect our selfs and our properties then so be it stop the crime! and we wouldn't have to go to such lengths I have 3 cameras and a very high fence and no one as told me to take it down not after getting a shot gun throw the door and guess what wrong address so you must do what you need to do to be safe and to protect your selfs and your property .Lawrence Burnett (Leeds, 2021-04-29)
#748
It's 100% ok to have a fence up to 6' high without planning permission - as per the Leeds Council website. Sounds like whoever complained is the person planning on robbing the place and are upset they can't get in as easily!Tracey Dixon (Leeds, 2021-04-29)
#750
The fence is looking good and if it is keeping the property safe surely that is better than having to call on the police to try and catch who ever is responsible.Ann Hemingway (Leeds, 2021-04-29)
#751
I think this fence should be allowed as it looks great fits in surroundings near and tidy not like some people hedges allowed to grow over public pavements and blocking light.Louise Mellor (Leeds, 2021-04-29)

They should have a right to protect themselves and their property from future burglaries whether the neighbours think it looks good or not is none of their business.Kathleen Ann Parsonson (Meanwood, Leeds, 2021-04-29)
#763
I'm signing this because I believe people should have the right to protect their homes at any cost. One person. A moaning sh*t(karen) neighbors don't have a problem and a 3ft fence isn't going to protect their homesNina Dolan (Leeds, 2021-04-29)
#766
I feel government and nosy neighbours should not be allowed to infringe on a person's rights.Julie Frein (Leeds, 2021-04-29)
#771
I’m signing because I prefer common sense to prevail over a bureaucracy that ignores the people it’s been set up to serve. Nothing worse than mindless jobsworths not caring how their decisions affect people.Karl Baxter (Leeds, 2021-04-29)

I think it’s pathetic that someone has to change the structure of a fence as if they’ve committed a criminal offence! Pun intended. But seriously, what’s the issue? Just let the couple live in peace! They’re not hurting anybody! There’s much more bigger issues to worry about in the city of Leeds. How about we start with them?Ayesha Imran (Leeds, 2021-04-29)
