#3803

BAT has done so much!
I am a smoker and will remain smoking even if I get my cigarettes illegally.
This is a ridiculous rule!

Adri Viljoen-Nel (Bellville, 2020-04-18)

#3805

It is an infringement of my rights

Phil Harvey (Pietermaritzburg, 2020-04-19)

#3808

Buying a packet of sigarette at Spar or PnP when I buy groceries really does not cause the spreading of the virus

Anel Botha (Secunda, 2020-04-19)

#3809

It's n stress reliever and at this time less craem in word.
Most tex on it and most workers lost there work by not going out.
There ather people robing the shops.
Please help as

Jaco Badenhorst (Benoni, 2020-04-19)

#3814

There will be more cases of coronavirus because smokers will look for smokes.

Elizabeth Kellerman (brackenfell, 2020-04-19)

#3816

It has already caused one death too many. There will be more violence while access to the black market will rise and the government will lose much-needed money.

Claire atkinson (Cape Town, 2020-04-19)

#3822

Smoker's never hurt anyone, we don't judge people with their faults... we just want ou cigarettes. Nothing else....

Alicia Pelser (Bloemfontein, 2020-04-19)

#3823

As a smoker u have driven my household insane by this ban! I did not choose this You did! You will mot prevent smokers from finding ciggarettes, you have only created a black market of thieves, and law abiding citizens to become scrangers looking for these black markets! Please lift the ban on tabbaco.

Carolann Hodge (Gauteng, 2020-04-19)

#3825

My husband smokes and without it he is moody. Its he'e choice If he wants to smoke or not.

Fran Figueira (Gauteng, 2020-04-20)

#3826

I'm a smoker and the struggle is real.

Ellen Kruger (Durban, 2020-04-20)

#3827

Even though I am not a smoker - I live with a man who is a smoker - and the withdrawal is more dangerous to than any possibility of picking up the virus through constantly touching the mouth - or the hazard of having lung disease as an underlying complication if someone gets the virus. Smokers have long ago made the decision to die whatever the risks

Cheryl Chilton (Johannesburg, 2020-04-20)

#3830

I'm signing this petition because there are thousands of jobs at stake here. Not only that but millions in tax money lost per day. This gives room for illegal cigarette vendors to sell at 3 times the price. This money is not going to the tax man. People are going to meet in secret to buy these illegal cigarettes and could spread the virus. Keeping a social distance while buying food is the same as keeping a social distance when buying cigarettes. Most of the time, the packer goes to fetch them anyway. Quitting will only make people sick and miserable. Coughing real bad is a symptom of quitting.

Leonora Laughton (Johannesburg , 2020-04-20)

#3831

I'm signing cause I cant buy any cigarettes. i bought enough for the 1st lockdown. But now we cant buy smokes

Please uplift the ban before 30 April !!!!!

Shantélle En Sean Guy (Polokwane , 2020-04-20)

#3836

This whole ban on cigarettes is just complete and utter bull shit!!! If this is classed as 'non essential' then how do you justify the lottery as 'essential' why are they not banning the lottery if they've already put a shut down on the casinos. How is the lottery still allowed??... Oh yes wait, its a parastatel , belongs to government and nobody must threaten the government coffers right?????????

Craig Demonse (Jhb, 2020-04-20)

#3837

I think that the ban is silly when stores are operating

Melasha Govender (Durban, 2020-04-20)

#3840

I am a smoker and I feel that the ban discriminates against my human right of choice to smoke.

Christina Dirker (Benoni, 2020-04-21)

#3843

I'm signing because I need to buy twisp cue pods

Karishma Madaree (Midrand, 2020-04-21)

#3845

As per your list

Lou Coetzee (Durban, 2020-04-21)

#3846

I'm signing it because it's impacting the economy in a negative way, a lot of people are left unemployed and at a high unemployment rate already in SA we cannot afford to loose more jobs. It is also putting families in lockdown under unnecessary emotional pressure, because of smokers acting out psychologically from withdrawal symptoms.

Adinda Cloete (Boksburg , 2020-04-21)

#3848

This ban causes unnecessary additional stress to smokers who are, like all others, already stressed in the lockdown situation.

Angie Naude (Cape Town, 2020-04-21)

#3850

Smoking make us chilled - which is what the government needs of South Africans during the lockdown. If the ban is not lifted smokers could turn violent and might take to the streets to protest - thus undoing all the good work about social distancing.

Lesley Daniel (Cape Town, 2020-04-21)

#3852

I want my vape juice to be delivered to my house.

Harrold Baggins (Stellenbosch, 2020-04-21)

#3853

I'm signing because this ban on cigarettes is ridiculous and I am about to go on a murdering spree which is going to be worse than Covid19 deaths if my smokes are finished before the end of the month!!!!

Sophia Nel (Margate, Kzn, 2020-04-21)

#3854

It's unfair and not logical... cant just take a substance that someone is addicted to.... should be available for home delivery. Because it's making us source it from other places such as the black market. And buying them from corrupt police who have confiscated them from other people or businesses

Richard Paice (Johannesburg , 2020-04-21)

#3859

I feel it's not fair to ban cigarettes due to the fact that it can be a stress reliever for many of people

Heidi Silversten (Kempton Park, 2020-04-21)

#3862

Reopening this channel will not cost anything, but continuing this political game with the Tabaco companies is causing real harm to real people. The ban is not worth the stress and problems its causing.

Natalie-Ann Powell (Gauteng, 2020-04-22)

#3866

Black market cigarettes is now flooding at ridiculous prices. People are out and about looking to find cigarettes

Elize Bouwer (Brakpan, 2020-04-22)

#3868

Its just unfair

Rekha Homraj (Durban, 2020-04-22)

#3871

The draconian measures must come to an end. It is your choice to smoke and drink. I am not asking government for handouts to buy ciggies and booze. Now, I am still buying from various people.government has lost nearly R40 billion in revenue.i simply cannot comprehend their reasoning. People will, and do find ways if buying cigarettes. And there is no sintax. Talking about shooting yourself 8n the foot - repeatedly. Hahahaha

Vilma Van Tonder (Cape Town, 2020-04-23)

#3873

It is my human right to smoke and it reliefs the stress of living and working in this country

Mary Ann Botja (Nelspruit, 2020-04-23)

#3879

No one should put a whole nation under such draconian conditions

Wiebke Kock (Cape Town, 2020-04-23)

#3880

The ban on alcohol...to some point i can understand...the ban on ciggaretes is simply stupid and reflects the level of education within the government...one shop keeper has lost his life as a result....cyril....i hope the death of this innocent man keeps u up at night coz his death is on u and all of those who enforced this ban....how can u expect a smoker to simply go without...there are ppl who have tried for years and not been able to kick the habit...so im not suprised by outbursts of violence as a result....tell me how this solves the covid 19 issue ?

Dean Parsons (East Rand, 2020-04-23)

#3881

I’m signing this because I’m a smoker and doesn’t want to go look for black markets and pay a lot of money just to get a smoke. Old people that smoke it’s hard for them because they have been smoking for years, they can’t just leave it for them to just leave it will cause more harm to them

Jasmine Lunat (Johannesburg , 2020-04-23)

#3886

It is my democratic right to smoke if it is my own choice. There is no scientific evidence to suggest that smokers are more likely to get the covid 19 virus.

Walter Botha (Brakpan , 2020-04-26)

#3888

Banning Cigarettes has NOTHING to do with Covid19. Nobody know WHY our clever Government came up with this ridiculous idea.

Len Swanepoel (Cape Town, 2020-04-28)

#3894

The government are now enabling the "black market". The tabacco farmers pay taxes, the traders pay tax on tabacco products. The smoker pay taxes. So where have these people's rights gone?

Gesina Swanepoel (Zeerust, 2020-04-29)

#3895

We want smokes

Jacques Van Der Westhuizen (Jhb, 2020-04-29)

#3899

its undermining the rules of social distancing as usual law abiding responsible smokers forced to find black market and illegal cigarettes

Hendrich Dickson (Roodepoort, 2020-04-29)

#3901

The country is loosing huge revenue in excise duties. Smokers are still buying cigarettes on the black market. SOUTH AFRICA NEEDS REVENUE, JOBS, NOT PETTY RULES

Sally Ferguson (Johannesburg, 2020-04-29)

#3903

I deserve to smoke. Its my personal choice

Leanne Boland (Gauteng, 2020-04-29)

#3905

I am a smoker and not a prisoner.

Andrew Wilson (Johannesburg, 2020-04-29)

#3906

Illicit traders is getting rich and we are loosing billions on tax

Gerhard Mentz (Ptetoria, 2020-04-29)

#3907

I am a smoker

Karika Van Huyssteen (Alberton, 2020-04-29)

#3908

Cigarettes help me to cope thru this lockdown they calm me down

Anouk Cleton (Mtunzini , 2020-04-29)

#3912

I need to have my smokes please

Kynda Benecke (Durban, 2020-04-29)

#3915

Allow us to smoke. We do not want withdrawal symptoms. I am working from home which is already stressful due to this unnecessary lockdown. You give methadone to drug addicts for their symptoms with our tax money. Looting will now become the biggest crime in South Africa.

Christiaan Basson (Randburh, 2020-04-29)

#3920

It's an unfair strain on the rights and sanity of law abiding citizens, we will be forced to support illegal sales instead of buying controlled products.

Tim Siemssen (Cape Town, 2020-04-29)

#3923

I am a smoker, i gave up drinking for over 20years and only smoke for stress relieve, please let us buy legal cigarettes

Elaine Labuschagne (Brits, 2020-04-29)

#3928

Nicotine withdrawal is a serious condition. It should not be forced onto people. Not only for the sake of the smoker, but for the well being of the innocent house hold members, locked in with a person forced into 'cold turkey'. Withdrawal symptoms includes aggression, depression, even violence.

Lydia Meyer (Mtunzini, 2020-04-29)

#3930

Because i feel it our free will to smoke or not smoke

Shaun Walker-Randall (Nylstroom , 2020-04-29)

#3933

It is my right to smoke not for you to decide if I may or not.

Gavin Candy (Cape Town , 2020-04-29)

#3939

Despite many reasons given, no valid reasons were given. What is the difference between cigarette sales and for instance coffee sales? It is a non essential, just like many other non essential that are still allowed and will provide a little bit of comfort and boredom relief while stuck at home as well as massive tax revenue for the government.

David van Rensburg (Pretoria, 2020-04-29)

#3943

I smoke and this Political Vendetta is a joke when the Tax looses could be extremely helpful in this time of need

Kevin Cleton (Johannesburg , 2020-04-29)

#3944

I am a smoker of 50 years and am now as a senior citizen told that I may not smoke for fear of people sharing "zolls"!! Who does dhlamini-Zuma share company with that gave her that advice? and who are the 2000 people that had direct access to telephone numbers to complain personally about a decision the president of our country had made earlier in the week to lift the ban? Us ordinary citizens have to sign petitions to have that privilege!! I am angry because I will now probably be forced to break the law to gain access to cigarettes which is putting a lot of strain on me and my family.

Rosemary Evans (Mogale, 2020-04-29)

#3948

This is my relief from life my one joy in life why are those that follow the rules being punished :(

Leandri Meyer (Vanderbijlpark , 2020-04-29)

#3951

Stop supporting illegal cigarette buying. Allow the legitimate tabacco industry to get back to work and pay their taxes. Allow smokers to get their fix while paying the sin tax. Forcing the cessation of smoking now does nothing to reduce the implied risk associated with COVID 19.

Lauren de Villiers (Midrand, 2020-04-29)

#3953

I feel that they should lift the ban on tobacco as it has no effect at all on the current pandemic.

Darryn Lewis Brown (Port Elizabeth, 2020-04-29)

#3956

I'm signing because I believe the ban is ridiculous.

Ronel Stofberg (Cape town, 2020-04-29)

#3960

It is my decision to smoke or not!
I cannot infect anyone else if I am not allowed near anyone else!
Toy cannot allow an addiction and them have it taken away.
Promised to return it and take it away again.....

Charne Noble Meano (Johannesburg , 2020-04-29)

#3964

I have been a smoker for the past 24 years and with your lockdown rules we are buying cigarettes illegally when drugs are supposed to be something that's bought illegally it is unfair on us cigarette smokers that we now have to endure buying cigarettes at double the price because we are buying illegal if this is the case how will we be able to support our families when we will be spending almost all of our money trying to support our habits and knowing that you have promised the nation we will be allowed cigarette sales this Friday you brought upon a relief that we no longer have to endure high prices and maybe we can afford to foot our daily bills for our families

Lutchman Vadivellu (Tongaat, 2020-04-29)

#3968

I need my sigarettes before I commit a crime!!!!!!!!!!

Charmaine Hengst (Pretoria , 2020-04-29)

#3970

The government is a moronic tyrant. Let us smoke. Let us drink. Let us work.

Arthur Brigg (Cape Town, 2020-04-29)

#3971

This ban smells a lot like bullshit

Hanlie Coetzee (Cape Town, 2020-04-29)

#3972

Those 2000 people who objected to the sale of cigarettes are they the ones selling cartons for R800.

Sharleen Durieux (Gauteng, 2020-04-29)

#3975

This is utter crap that we arent allowed to smoke.

Ash Groenewald (Johannesburg, 2020-04-29)

#3977

This is just going to encourage skelpers and the tabacco black market

Himi M (Johannesburg, 2020-04-29)

#3979

Not selling cigarettes legally has a huge economical impact on South Africa and also smokers will get voilent. I am not a smoker myself. This is crazy banning sales.

Diane Vorster (Pretoria, 2020-04-29)

#3981

Unjustified! I don't share my cigarettes!!! It's my right to decide what is good for me and what is not! The country is losing an enormous amount of money due to the banning of cigarettes and liquor.

Rina Cross (Randburg , 2020-04-29)

#3984

I'm signing because I smoke and it is NOT my choice to stop. I do NOT want to be forced to go the illegal route.

Sandy Green (Weltevredenpark , 2020-04-29)

#3986

It is my human right to choose to smoke, and the black market us flooded and selling cigarettes at exuberant prices to all people irrespective of your social standing. Government is loosing billions in su. Taxes

Nicole Rousseau (Johannesburg , 2020-04-29)

#3989

I need to smoke have been for many years

Sylvia Erasmus (Middelburg , 2020-04-29)

#3990

I’m signing because i believe we have rights, government have no right to take this away from us. They want to send our children out to school, risk their life's, it then is a choice if you want to smoke even of it ‘might’ Stand a change to get infected.

Este Nel (Limpopo, 2020-04-29)

#3994

I'm signing this because I can't understand how non-smokers got 2000 people to petition that 11 million smokers are denied the opportunity to legally purchase cigarettes. This despite the fact that sales of cigarettes generate tax income of over R127 million

Iona Joubert (Sasolburg, 2020-04-29)

#3996

This is my only pleasure that i allow myself in life ...
