Survival of delivery industry and thousands of jobs it beings

It will affect me getting to and leaving my property as well as my mother and disabled brother visiting.

I do cycle through the city to work several days a week but there are some days I need to take a large instrument and it isn’t possible to cycle or catch multiple busses with it. I’m sure the recent road closures near mill road have made the congestion worse. Small city businesses will struggle to survive if people are put off coming into the city.

A congestion charge is absolutely stupid & will cost every business in the Cambridge & the locals

Frank Gorman (Cambridge, 2022-09-30)

#212

I don’t want any congestion charge in Cambridge.

Artur Boyoko (Cambridge, 2022-09-30)

#217

It’s not a good idea

It will ruin the city . The shops, people going to work and living their everyday life , the residents everyone will suffer . I will consider moving if it comes to this please listen to peoples concerns.

Annabel Firek (Cambridge, 2022-10-01)

#221

The policy is unrealistic, especially when public transportation system is so unreliable.

E McLachlan (Cambridge, 2022-10-01)

#223

It is very unfair on every citizen living and working in Cambridgeshire.

Kamla Taffarello (Cambridge, 2022-10-01)

#227

We don’t need a congestion charge but better and cheaper buses
This will adversely effect small and large businesses in the city
Closure of mill road for a period of time has had a marked effect on businesses in the area
It kills the diversity of shops we are left with more eateries and food shops

Lesley Cooke (Cambridge, 2022-10-01)

#229

I’m a resident on the edge of the city & I use my vehicle for work to access the city on a daily basis

peter ramsey (Cambridge, 2022-10-01)

#230

Getting through this winter will be tough enough without added burden by CCC which will benefit only Cambridge. Selfish. Greedy

Joy Sennitt (Stretham Ely, 2022-10-01)

#233

It is wrong

Colin Merry (Cambridge, 2022-10-01)

#234

I am signing because I do not agree with the chareg

Katarzyna Marek (Cambridge, 2022-10-01)

I live in Cambridge and work at a supermarket 5 days a week. There is no direct bus route from home to work so have to use my car. If I had to pay £5 a day to get to work it would hardly be worth my while to go to work.

jane stubbins (Cambridge, 2022-10-01)

#239

I’m signing because this congestion charge will kill our city.

We need to give people reasons to come to Cambridge, not to punish them with a charge for using their cars.

The bus is not a valid or suitable alternative to most peoples livelihood’s. The only way to help with congestion is to include cars in the solution. If the options available are convenient to people they will use them.

Anne Froggett (Cambridge, 2022-10-01)

#243

The way the congestion charge is being proposed does not take into account the true requirements of the city and its citizens, and it does not show any expected outcome. Not to mention the fact that the recent cancellation of several bus routes makes the promise "then we will create more and better bus services" look like a lame excuse along the lines of "now you see it, now you don't ". There are so many things that the city can do to improve congestion and pollution before introducing a pointless congestion charge, that frankly looks like just an additional tax.

Andrea Barp (Cambridge, 2022-10-01)

#246

It's a bad idea that will cripple the residents of Cambridge and and be dreadful for trade in the city. Madness.

Madeline Kingsford (Cambridge, 2022-10-01)

#247

Our shop has been on Mill.Road for 30 years and services provided in Cambridge for over 35 years in Cambridge. If this charge goes a head will will be forced to move out of Cambridge.

Shaun Rutherford (Cambridge, 2022-10-01)

#252

The bus services from villages are not fit for purpose and have been further reduced recently. Fix these first, tackle cycle theft, and then only introduce a congestion charge when there is a proper public transport infrastructure in place. Do not include schools and hospitals in the zone!

Vicky Williams (Cambridge, 2022-10-01)

#254

I think a congestion charge is an unfair idea especially at a time when people are worrying about how to survive with higher energy and every other cost

Patricia Parkes (Cambridge, 2022-10-01)

#258

This plan is poorly thought out and will damage local retail, the life of the city and negatively impact local residents intensely. The zone also covers nearly the entire City, we're just not goddamn big enough to support or even require this

Kara Collins (Cambridge, 2022-10-01)

#262

I drive a vehicle which is essential for my business.
The new tax would result in my having to close down.

Liam Clift (Cambridge, 2022-10-01)

#264

I live in Cambridge, all this will do is kill shops to fund buses that people don’t use

Stuart Hall (Cambridge, 2022-10-01)

#269

There is not a congestion problem in Cambridge!
This is pure greed and is set to benefit no one.
Cambridge is not and must not oust its own home grown people, which it’s increasingly doing.
It’s abhorrent to take more money from people, especially at such a time where businesses and families are struggling to survive.

Sarah Watts (Cambridge, 2022-10-01)

#271

I’m signing this petition because as a resident of Cambridge we should have our say as this will affect my work life and home life have a big effect financially and it will destroy Cambridge

Caroline Deane (Cambridge, 2022-10-01)

#272

This is an undemocratic, unjust extortion of funds impacting thousands of people in and around Cambridge. A thin disguise for council incompetence and their intention of removing Cambridge residents free movement in private vehicles.

Tim Criddle (Cambridge, 2022-10-01)

#276

I am against the charge. I live 1 minute from the A14. £5 to drive half a mile. Shocking !

Trevor George (Cambridge, 2022-10-01)

#277

There is less congestion now and less pollution with more electric cars. Plus it is tacking away our freedom.

Richard Jackson (Cambridge, 2022-10-01)

#285

I don’t agree with it

Denise Smyth (Cambridge, 2022-10-01)

#289

I work at Addenbrookes hospital and I will have to pay out a lot more money every week

Anne Pellatt (Cambridge, 2022-10-01)

#293

People every day are being forced to live outside the city because of the astronomical house prices who still work in Cambridge, if they are then charged to come into work all the care homes hospitals and essential service will be even more under pressure.....and I who am lucky( or not) to live in the city centre already pay for the privilege to park ....sod having to pay every time I move it !!!😡😡

Amanda Squires (Cambridge, 2022-10-01)

#294

I have lived in Cambridge my whole life and love the city and the freedom and diversity it gives , by doing this Cambridge is going to loose ! Business (like our family run business) are going to suffer and the city will die . It will become a university/research/science hub with no community or life

Lisa Kantar (Cambridge, 2022-10-01)

#299

I disagree with a congestion charge

Allan Walton (Ely, 2022-10-01)

#301

As a resident in Central Cambridge I am appalled that the council are considering this ridiculous plan.

Angela Jewell (Cambridge, 2022-10-01)

#304

Will not anyone, stupid idea

Shanif Smartt (Cambridge, 2022-10-01)

#306

I teach Sen children in the community in and around the city I can’t take my boot load of resources from bus to bus !

Lesley Ridley (Cambridge, 2022-10-01)

#311

The idea of a congestion charge will drive people away from Cambridge to the detriment of small business. Inclusion of local hospitals in the zone is a tax on working for or needing the NHS

Pilsworth Joanne (Cambridge, 2022-10-02)

#320

I work at Addenbrookes hospital and get paid little enough as it is. The only way I'll be able to access work without paying the congestion charge will be to do a long detour, therefore wasting my and the world's resources and adding extra pollution to the atmosphere.

Lulu Kirby (Burwell, 2022-10-02)

#321

It is not acceptable to have to pay to enter cambridge? Its a small city and I'm a local small business and would not cope with having to pay this on a daily basis

Oliver Mills (Soham, 2022-10-02)

#322

This tax will further increase inflation and hurt the working class who commute in to or out of Cambridge. It will also hurt the sick who need to go to Addenbrookes immediately and families who need more than 1 shopping bag to feed their family for the week.

Marc Galler (Cambridge, 2022-10-02)

#328

I strongly think this is a very bad idea, I’m constantly driving in and out of the city boundary
Cambridge is not London!!!!

Karen Middleton (Cambridge, 2022-10-02)

#333

The proposal does not help those who live in the city, age in the city and require transport to seek health and care support to remain independent.

Steve Feast (Cambridgr, 2022-10-02)

#337

Utterly bonkers, £5 a day to come to work ! £125 extra a month i have to find on top of all other financial pressures. Use the bus they say, what bus? Ours has just been cancelled due to low use.. or so they say. But strangely the GCP are trying to force the C2C busway on us at a cost of £250mil, not sure how that works when one bus company says they cant do it as its running at 30% numbers.
The congestion charge will financially cripple workers, businesses and visitors to Cambridge, how anyone on the council and GCP think this is accepable shows they are inept, narrow minded and agenda set.. they all need replacing to get fresh ideas for our futures!

Nathan Smith (Cambridge, 2022-10-02)

#344

I have family in cambridge that I care for so will cost me to support them everyday. Also it will effect businesses that are already suffering.

Joanne Twinn (Cambridge, 2022-10-02)

#351

I am signing this petition, because I feel that we should be able to express our needs and opinions in decision that could be life changing for us, who live in Cambridge and would like to keep on living here in the future

Francesca Amor (Cambridge, 2022-10-02)

#352

I'm signing because it's an unreasonable and despicable attempt by Cambridge council to extort money out of the working public.

Sam Capes (Cambridge, 2022-10-02)

#362

Absolutely ridiculous shops are closing and now Cambridge wants to make it worse. We do not have reliable public transport so the car is a necessity.

Linda Lawrence (Newmarket, 2022-10-02)

#365

I do not agree with the proposal for a congestion charge for Cambridge. Living just outside the city (in Barton), all facilities, eg chemists, are within the city. As pensioners we get a free bus pass, but bus is being cancelled. So pensioners should be exempt from congestion charge as no alternative to using our car.

Catherine Campbell (Cambridge, 2022-10-02)

#368

I visit Cambridge regularly to see friends and this will make it harder. We do cycle and use public transport as much as we can but it isn’t always possible.

Deanna Nicholson (Haywards Heath, 2022-10-02)

#369

I disagree with unlawful congestion charges.

Paula Yates (Saffron Walden, 2022-10-02)

#370

I work in Cambridge and can’t afford to pay £5 per day. Our bus service into town is being dropped by Stagecoach and so I can’t rely on public transfer to work. My son also will no longer be able to get the bus into sixth form college every day, so this will add further cost. At a time when we are all struggling financially and really need to be able to access work, and when my kids have already lost 2 years of stable access to education due to covid, is this seriously the way you want to go? Let alone the damage you will do to Cambridge commercially. Try thinking past your own narrow agenda for once and consider how normal people are going to be critically affected

Emily Rigby (Cambridge, 2022-10-02)

#377

There should be better public transport and this will help kill off the high street. The council will lose money from parking.
Who on earth will want to pay 5£ in these hard times.

David Shanahan (CB23 7QU Cambridge, 2022-10-02)

#382

This plan is wholly irresponsible and illogical.

Jane Langley (Cambridge, 2022-10-02)

#384

This needs to go to a referendum

James Adams (Cambridge, 2022-10-02)

#388

The congestion charge will adversely impact on the ability for residents to continue to work and avoid tipping into poverty. This is particularly as cambirgde has a high cost of living but not privileged to London waiting. Public transport is insufficient and does not enable me to get to my place of work for the pm hours I work let alone since the cessation of bus services for. My village
Congestion charge will further drive shoppers out of the town centre onto online instead causing further shop closures and job losses

Andrew Thompson (Hardwick, Cambridge, 2022-10-02)

#392

I'm signing because I think the boundaries of any congestion charging in Cambridge (if it's ever necessary) need to be much closer in to the city than is currently proposed, and should definitely not include Addenbrookes hospital.

Eliot Kingsley (Cambridge, 2022-10-02)
