Call for action to make the roads safer around Sutton in Craven

Comments

#201

Sutton in Craven is a small village and the road at Sutton Lane is extremely dangerous due to it being narrow and no footpath. There should be a footpath installed and 20 mph speed limit. I fact there should be a 20 mph speed limit throughout all the village.

Jean Done (Sutton in Craven, 2021-09-21)

There isn't a safe route to walk into or out of the village when coming from or to Eastburn, Steeton or some parts of Crosshills particularly when dark. There is a path alongside the beck however st night this is dark and not a safe route. The road does not have a pavement, is narrow and sadly has led to the fatality of a young boy.

Brendan Simpson (Keighley, 2021-09-21)

#208

Something needs doing to make the village safe, 4 schools are in the vicinity 3 of these are primary schools.

Tracey Ickringill (Glusburn, 2021-09-21)

#212

Sutton Lane is a speed run. Unfortunately common sense seldom prevails. One young life lost already on this road.

Judy Cowgill (Sutton in craven, 2021-09-21)

#217

The roads around Sutton are dangerous, people speed without thought of others.

Joanne Simons (Sutton in craven, nr Keighley, 2021-09-21)

#219

The fatal incident on the 17th Sept was only a matter of time!! We all know it yet nothing is done. This must change. A pavement is the only answer to prevent any more unnecessary deaths, that along with better street lighting and clear speed limit signage. There are 4 schools within a mile, 3 of them primary age and the speed of traffic is excessive.

Georgina Jones (Keighley, 2021-09-21)

#221

Sutton Lane needs a pavement, it is used by pedestrians but is dangerous

Paul Burrows (Keighley, 2021-09-21)

#222

Something NEEDS to happen quickly before something else happens.

Jack Harrison (Crosshills, 2021-09-21)

#224

Sutton Lane as long been an accident waiting to happen. No footpath and poor lighting. The tragic event of last week highlights the need for alterations along this stretch of road

Bren Tretton (Steeton, 2021-09-21)

#226

The roads around our beautiful village have become very dangerous and the tragedy we have witnessed this week shouldn’t be repeated. So sad that despite previous concerns the road on Sutton Lane End wasn’t made safe before. Stop putting money before safety.

Paul Jackson (Sutton in Craven, 2021-09-21)

#229

The roads are terrible and paths are unsafe for walkers.

Kaye Waite (Keighley, 2021-09-21)

#230

Because the road speeds are totally ignored all the time , double parking opposite the church and near the park, sutton is used as short cut when other roads are congested .

Robert Lee (Sutton in craven, 2021-09-21)

#235

The road is to dangerous one part of the road is 60 to fast for cars

Davina Forsyth (Croft hill, 2021-09-21)

#244

I lived in Sutton when I was a child and still have family there. The road is not safe to walk along and desperately needs a footpath.

Caren Hull (Halifax, 2021-09-21)

#252

We don’t need another accidental death on this road

Liz Green (Keighley, 2021-09-21)

#257

I have lived off Sutton Lane for 27 years and it feels less and less safe each year to walk along it to my home with no footpath.

Helen Cook (Bradford, 2021-09-21)

#266

I’m signing because something needs to be done to prevent another tragedy like this from happening. Deepest condolences to the little boy’s family. Hopefully a positive move to make the area safer can come from this devastating situation.

Catherine Kopec (Steeton, 2021-09-21)

Kevin Richardson (Sutton in craven, 2021-09-21)

Libbi Morris (Halifax, 2021-09-21)

#272

I do not want to see or hear of another family's heartbreaking loss of their family or even mine, the road needs to be lit up & kept safe to walk on..

Andrea Thompson (Bradford, 2021-09-21)

#275

The roads around Sutton in Craven aren’t safe to walk as people are driving through our village too fast

Tracy Felgate (Keighley, 2021-09-21)

#277

There definitely needs to be something done with Sutton Lane to make it safer. Footpath and lighting is a must!

Carl Johnson (Silsden, 2021-09-21)

#283

I'm signing this as I feel the highways/ and the local council are not doing enough to provide safety on the roads but miss a payment of your council tax it's a different matter

Jonathan Coombes (Skipton, 2021-09-21)

#287

I live in Sutton. I'm afraid for my families safety. It's like a race course on a night.

Emma Daft (Keighley, 2021-09-21)

#288

Too many vehicles come through our village at inappropriate speeds for our narrow streets - and especially along the Sutton-in-Craven part of Sutton Lane which has stone walls to either side and no pavement.

Hazel Martell (Sutton-in-Craven, Keighley, 2021-09-21)

#290

It shouldn't take the death of a child to make the authorities sit up and listen, it's heartbreaking. This has been discussed time and time again, we've needed this for a while. Bridge Road is also bad, considering its right outside my children's school people speed up and down there. Plus the residents on church road have decided to block all the parking outside school so we now have to cross bridge road when there's no need to. We shouldn't have to worry about our children being safe in a quiet North Yorkshire village. It's the one and only thing I hate about living here. Please please do something.

David Slater (Keighley, 2021-09-21)

#291

There needs to be something done about drivers speeding through our village

Michelle Thornton (Sutton in craven, 2021-09-21)

#293

My friends son died in Sutton last week this is unacceptable and should never of happened.

Jonathan Phillips (Eastburn, 2021-09-22)

#295

visiting family in sutton, we have often met people walking on sutton lane in the dark and know to drive slowly on that road.

I would want to add that Ellers Ghyll road is appauling, I now drive to keighley to avoid having to use that road, it is dangerous in every sence of the word. people drive at speed both up and down, having several accidents at the top end, then meeting someone at the lower end where only one car is passable having to reverse when visibility is so poor. It really is a wonder that more accidents don't happen on this road.

Fiona Lawton (leeds, 2021-09-22)

#296

I used to live at knott lane where sadly the young lad lost his life. There needs to be a safe footpath along the road.

Nicky Williams (Burley in Wharfedale, Ilkley, 2021-09-22)

#301

My friends lost there son and something needs to be done before another life is sadly taken.

Jodie Astin (Nr keighley, 2021-09-22)

#305

I am signing this petition because we may live in a rural area but we are entitled to be able to walk in safety. We are entitled to pavements just like all urban areas

Catherine Anderton (Sutton-in-Craven, 2021-09-22)

#308

I’m signing this petition because it’s about time a footpath was made along Sutton Lane. It has been needed for years. It’s taken a death of an innocent child to make the authorities take note. Surely the landowners would donate the land. It’s not a lot of land needed and there’s never a lot in the fields

Rachael Thompson (Keighley, 2021-09-22)

#310

I fully agree with John that we need a footpath on sutton Lane and traffic lights at the end of Sutton lane.
So sad a young boy has lost his life, this must not happen again!

Rosarie Bradford (Sutton in Craven, 2021-09-22)

#316

I live up Knott Lane which means my children have to walk along this dangerous road every day to school sadly.

Dean Beck (Keighley, 2021-09-22)

#320

No family should ever have to go through the loss of a child again.
That road has no path and no lights - surprised this hasn't happened before. Please do something before it happens again.

Miss e hopkins (Sutton-in-craven, 2021-09-22)

#323

I care

Wendy Gawtry (Bradford, 2021-09-22)

#327

The speed of car day and night on sutton lane and through the village is well above 30 miles per hour. Its used as a rat run. Many roads need to be made one way particularly mill street and traffic calming needs to be in place.

Beverley Clarkson (Keighley, 2021-09-22)

#330

I’m signing this because this stretch of road does need to be made safer. People do need to be able to walk down Sutton Lane safely and it is very dangerous with having no footpath.

Kathryn Ripley (Eastburn Keighley, 2021-09-22)

#332

IT is getting ridiculous, no Police presence or detergents.

Someone is going to get maimed or worse.

Keith Jackson (Sutton in Craven, 2021-09-22)

#334

We need to make sure no more unnecessary deaths happen so measures need to be in place.

Scott Succoia (Cross Hills, 2021-09-22)

#336

I’m signing because I know first hand how devastating it is to loose someone to dangerous driving. My mum was killed by people racing through the streets and it tore our families lives apart.

Sam Rees (KEIGHLEY, 2021-09-22)

#337

My friend lost her little boy

Krista Royston (Bradford, 2021-09-22)

#339

I have family with children walking to school along that lane. Footpath needed there for their safety.

Annette Quinn (Bradford, 2021-09-22)

#340

Traffic calming is long overdue on these village roads

Julie Stevens (Nr Keighley, 2021-09-22)

#342

I’m signing because this road is dangerous. Extremely dangerous. Having walked it once, I would never do it again. No footpath and speeding cars. Action needed NOW.

Ali Metcalfe (Eastburn, Keighley, 2021-09-22)

#347

The road to Sutton is dangerous, its so narrow and lacking a footpath in certain parts!

Judith Wilkinson (Cross Hills, 2021-09-22)

#349

People drive too fast through and around the village. We don't want any more accidents or fatalities because of speeding cars and dangerous driving.

Carole Howorth (Sutton in Craven, 2021-09-22)

#354

I live in the village,it is a dangerous road and we need to prevent another tragedy happening

Christine Brisland Was Tennant (Keighley, West Yorkshire, 2021-09-22)

I am a resident that lives on Main Street and I am sick and tired of witnessing drivers speeding well above the 30mph limit in force.

Neil Garside (Keighley, 2021-09-22)

#366

These small roads ate not safe for walkers and runners. We need footpaths to avoid tragedies like the one last week.

Maureen Pinder (Keighley, 2021-09-22)

#369

The speeding in the village is ridiculous.

Jade Davis (Keighley, 2021-09-22)

#370

I think the roads around the Craven area are very dangerous with speeding drivers and sadly a young boy was killed recently

Alison Bacon (Skipton, 2021-09-22)

#371

The speed limit needs drastically lowering

Sonya ryan (Bradford, 2021-09-22)

#373

The roads are very busy in the area and some do not have footpaths so are unsafe. There are a lot of schools in the area including a large secondary school which children walk to and from and with the amount of traffic in the area the roads need to be safer.

Rachel O'Hara (Keighley, 2021-09-22)

#375

I am signing this petition as I have friends that live in the Sutton in craven area and want to make the area safer for them. What happened to the young boy should never have happened as I know what the roads are like some safety measures should have been put there years ago

Matt Denniss (Huddersfield, 2021-09-22)

#376

We can’t keep on having people lives out at risk

Gill Crook (Eastburn, 2021-09-22)

#377

I agree with the above, we need a footpath along Sutton Lane and speed bumps.

Ann Fearnley (Steeton with Eastburn, 2021-09-22)

#378

No more deaths

Margaret Livock (Keighley, 2021-09-22)

Andrew Heys (Silsden, 2021-09-22)

#385

Sutton Lane is dangerous day or night. I get scared walking a long their in the day light

Nicola Gott (Keighley, 2021-09-22)

#387

Action needs to be taken and quickly. I have lived in Sutton my whole life and enough is enough. Sutton lane is incredibly dangerous as shown this weekend. The village was not designed for this amount of traffic and cars and it’s incredibly unsafe in many places.

Ella Beaumont (sutton in craven, 2021-09-22)

#388

I'm signing because my Grandchildren have to walk this road daily, too and from to get to the bus stop for school.

Peter Beck (BRADFORD, 2021-09-22)

#391

I live in the village and see cars speeding through the village regularly. The recent tragedy is close to my heart and something needs to be done on sutton Lane before something like this happens again.

Jade Keeton (Sutton in craven, 2021-09-22)

#398

This road is unsafe and this has been proven in the recent tragic even of a young 9 year old who was killed on this street.
